Traditional no-frills pub with tasty fish & chips and friendly approachable service. The name is tied to the Mayflower, the ship in which the Pilgrim Fathers made their voyage to America, which was either built or owned in Leigh. One wall lists the names of all who sailed on the Mayflower. The pub sits at the rear of the Mayflower Fish & Chips and soft scoop ice cream parlor. The interior feels cozy due to the low ceiling and views of the Thames estuary. The outside area is cramped and not inviting. The haddock and chips (£16.50) were perfectly cooked - crispy, flakey, juicy and lightly seasoned. .

I always grab an icecream from here whenever I visit Leigh On Sea. The flavours were awesome on my last trip - Malteser & white chocolate honeycomb. The price is also reasonable too.
I've had the fish n chips before. It was good.
There's an outdoor area to sit down. The ice-creamery is a counter on the corner & you don't need to go inside the pub to order.

Always a nice visit when In the area.
The fish and chips (I usually have Rock) are fantastic, with fresh, large portions.
The cask ales are always well kept and are well priced.
Friendly service and a nice traditional pub atmosphere.

A lovely “old fashioned “ pub with great views of the Thames estuary, really tasty food & friendly staff, also looked to have a great outdoor area but it was a bit cold to venture outside for us.

Always some good ales available and has a small deck outside. Has a proper deep fat fryer for excellent fish chips, eat in or takeaway. Parking can be a challenge on busy days.

A superb pub. Great choice of cask ale, decent fish and chips and friendly staff. Bert than a few other unnamed pubs that we popped into along this stretch

Lovely old pub, serves great choice of ales and alcohol beverages.
Best chips in town
A few more vegan options please! Love to order vegan fish n chips ( banana blossom)

Great place for fish and chips! We sat outside on the benches because it was packed inside with no space to sit because of the rain, shame about the weather but either way the amazing food made it up! Good quality fish and chips.

Best beer in Leigh on Sea - second to none. Fresh fish and chips from the restaurant in front served in the bar straight out of the fryer (seasonal times apply).
Tom is probably one of the best barmen in the town.
My first stop and often my last as I really love the place.

Good proper Pub in Leigh. Always a range of decent Ales and a good atmosphere (somewhat lacking in the rest of town).

Review on The Mayflower at Old Leigh. (Breakfast)
We decided to go for breakfast this morning and then take the children crabbing at Old Leigh beach. We ordered the breakfast and drinks at the bar and then sat down. We had to wait over an hour for our breakfast and when it did arrive it didn't all come at the same time! Our pots of tea never arrived, and even though we asked for it twice! We ended up finishing the breakfast and then said to the waitress not to bother making it and asked for our money back, (I wish we asked for all our money back!!!) The breakfast was over priced for the quality! The bacon roll had a rasher of bacon in a cheap roll. The full breakfast was £5.95 for 1 egg, bacon, sausage, beans and toast. All the eggs were over cooked, bacon and sausage was cold! Even though we complained, the staff never offered to give us a refund! If you fancy a breakfast never go to the Mayflower! We had to go home for a cup of tea! Not good!

Lovely pub with lovely friendly staff. Food was yummy and our dogs were even allowed in to dine with us while the lovely bar lady brought them out sausages. Can't wait to visit again soon

The young school girls they employ as waiting staff are extremely rude. Go into the Mayflower quite regularly with my partner. I really used to like the pub but now I think it's going down hill. These girls they employ put these scented perfumed candles on the table every evening aparently. Which is annoying especially if you have an allergy to perfume or suffer from Asthma or Hayfever. We told them not to light it. They still did it. So my partner blew it out. Then this rude blonde girl insisted we have to have it. Which we don't. On top of that we don't get reconized as customers. As CAMRA Members we are always asked to see our card. Even though we are regulars. Won't be rushing back unless we meet friends in there. Unbelievable!
