Arrived on foot having walked from Southend on a gorgeous sunny Sunday in to Leigh-on-Sea and this was the first of a few seafront restaurants I came across. An old pub with bags of history, character and oodles of charm. Couldn’t resist. Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, a gorgeous view from the terrace overlooking the Thames Estuary, wonderful atmosphere and beautifully presented food which didn’t take too long to arrive. What more could you want. I had the fish cakes, triple cooked chips and salad which was beautiful and such a reasonable price too. The service, from start to finish was excellent.
Don’t usually eat this amount of food whilst out walking the England Coast Path but I just had to stop and enjoy this fabulous spot and everything it had to offer. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ye Olde Stack Inn in Leigh-on-Sea, and I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable experience.
What truly sets this establishment apart is their exceptional staff. In particular, I must give a special shout-out to Chris, whose attention to detail and extensive local knowledge enriched my visit beyond measure.
The atmosphere at Ye Olde Stack Inn is cozy and inviting. The menu offers a delectable range of dishes, and the food was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was prepared with care and packed with flavour, leaving my taste buds delighted.
Thanks to Chris and the entire team for making my visit one to remember. This hidden gem in Leigh-on-Sea deserves every one of its five stars!
One of the popular pubs In Leigh on sea. Delicious foods, good atmosphere and good staff. If you are lucky you can find table In balcony. We are love here and recommend everyone
Lovely atmosphere, the staff were amazing, fast, friendly and good humoured. The food was delivered quickly to our table and most of it was lovely, the burgers were exceptional. Sadly the fish & chip dishes were really tasteless and watery, wouldn't order that again.
Set in a lovely location, Dog friendly, serves great food inc Vegan. The staff are always friendly and helpful, especially kat, who kept our dog happy with treats.
The Pub itself is really cute, and there are outside tables which looked lovely! The service was okay, which is fine since we went without expectations.
The food was okay, we had the menu of the day (forgot what it's called). My wife and I half everything, and we both gave the mussels an 8/10 and the beer batter fish and chips a 5/10. The fish was watery and missed flavour. In general, it looks nice to go for drinks and have a bar snack.
We were recommended this little spot by a friend and it was fab! Atmosphere were great, staff too. And a special shout out to Chris for accommodating 2 little fussy eaters! Definitely will be back again
Review only for the place and the fish and chips :)
Location 10 out of 10 small old village next to the river.
Old pub look 10 out of 10. Sat inside out of the sun and heat at mid day. It was lovely and cool inside and look fantastic.
Now for the fish and chips. Like the rest 10/10 portion size good and taste great. Triple dip chips.. and malt vinegar.. this was a traditional experience all the way. Thanks for a lovely lunch and thanks to the staff for great service.
Nice pubs overlooking the water, friendly staff and very great food!!
Squid at the top! Mash potatoes at the bottom tho.
We had very nice beers by the tap, toilets were clean...
Oh yes they are dog friendly.
👌👌👌
Weather was good so few tables left outside. Food was very nice, fish & chips, nice sized portion, fish nice and fresh, chips nice and hot. Took awhile for our empty plates to be taken away. Empty glasses left on tables for sometime. Would go back. Reasonably priced.
Fantastic pub in Old leigh. Fabulous views. Great selection of food and beers. Highly recommend 👌
Lovely pub with a great terrace out the back came here had a freezing cold beer on a sunny day what more could you want,, also met some very friendly people had a lovely time will def come back
Nice pub with some good beers on. I went in on a Wednesday night, and the place was almost empty, which is a shame as it's a nice friendly pub.
Maybe better food or better advertised food would pull more people in as the Peterboat next door was packed.
I will say the beer was excellent, well kept and a really good pint
The Smack is a lovely pub by the beach in Leigh-on-sea. The food there tops all the others in the area and the drinks selection isn’t far behind either. The staff are lovely and very welcoming and often put a smile on my face. Would 100% recommend paying a visit if you’re in the the area!
The Smack is one of my regular dog walk pubs. It’s dog friendly and even has a treat and water station. The owners are great, but the service is slow when there’s more than a handful of people in there.
Inside, the pub is nicely furnished and comfortable and large so, unless it’s really busy, you can often find a table.
The food is pretty good for pub food and the selection of beers is good. The only things that let the place down a little are that it’s expensive (tourist prices due to location) and the staff, although friendly and a polite are very slow and do the most hated thing of all pub-goers, they just look up and say “who’s next?”. You can regularly watch half a dozen people come and go whilst you wait endlessly.
Overall a nice pub and well worth a visit though.
Loved this! We sat outside with our drinks and truly enjoyed the view and chatting. We didn't eat but the food coming out looked good and empty plates went back in! I hope one day to return ... lunch there will be top of my list.
Lovely views and fantastic staff, especially pleased with Chris! His service alone warrants coming back time and time again, let alone how good the food was. Think I’ve found my new favourite spot!
My favourite place to drink in Leigh-on-Sea! The back garden overlooking the estuary is gorgeous.
Got phenomenal service by James C., a delightful bartender. Charming jokes, lovely man. Absolutely a regular spot for me
So this Sunday I was meeting up with a friend and while walking around Leigh On Sea, we decided that it would be good to fuel up. Decided to visit most visible choice that was on the way. The prices were ok, choices enough to wonder. As per quantiry of customers one can see its good place and dog friendly. We had a nice meal and felt cosy. Its clean and staff looked after us well. Thank you, might visit again, unless just want to experiment with other places ;)
