Lovely open fire and quiet bar. The chairs may have needed to be recovered but they were very comfy. Low beams and very chilled out. Bar closes at 2.30pm till 5pm I believe. I could have fallen asleep 😴 meals were large and really cheap. We had 2 meals one side and 2 soft drinks for £20!!!! Toilets
Lots of history, lovely bar. Food was okay. Definitely needed a little more footfall and investment, but I was visiting for business on a dark and wet Friday night, so perhaps wasn’t at its busiest. It was Valentines Day; probably saw 4 other people. Staff very friendly...
We came for lunch on Sunday. We were welcomed into the restaurant, the staff were excellent and very friendly. The food was delicious. The prices are very reasonable when compared to other local establishments. It made a change from eating at the local Wetherspoons, the presence of which has made a
Lovely hotel, great staff, the double room I am staying in is equipped with a fan in this heat! A kettle along with teabags and coffee complemented with some delicious cookies! The reason for 4 stars is the room is the bathroom facilities could updated as the bath seems a little used. Saying that ev
Gorgeous old building, loved the 'quirky' stairs and beams in the ceiling.
Had a good couple of nights there for a birthday, had a lovely meal on the first night in the restaurant. Breakfast was good, too. Slight issues with the wi-fi, a bit slow sometimes, but, did not ruin our stay. Staff friendly
Very pleasant stay. Great breakfast, big enough to satisfy any appetite. Friendly staff. Room well appointed although trouble flushing the toilet on our final morning which we reported, so hopefully the hotel will fix this for the next guest. We were evacuated for a short time on our first night wh
As an attendee of the Test Card Circle convention I've been staying at the Talbot annually for at least 10 years.
This year the staff we saw were excellent. Very pleasant and helpful. The whole hotel was clean and room valeting perfect.
However two big problems. The food served is barely edible, a
I stayed for two nights and found it good value, clean, fairly quiet and in a central location. The facilities included parking, internet, coffee/tea and cookies. The room furnishing was ok, but perhaps a little tired, nonetheless I'd be happy to stay here again.
Very nice pub/restaurant, food was great. Only giving it do it stars because we had a 40 minute wait for food, but only due to a tickck break down in the kitchen, however we did get a complementary drink to say sorry for the wait. Overly all very pleasant experience.
Very friendly staff. Hotel is lovely and our room was very good. Breakfast was amazing. Very tasty and large portions. Will definitely stay here again.
We couldn't fault the roast dinner at all. Cosy little place, friendly staff & very relaxed. Would've been happy to spend a night there but just popped in for lunch.
Good food. Old and getting a little tired but it is a coaching inn after all.
Restaurant is good. Beer is good and pleasant setting. Rooms are abit of a rabbit Warren layout
Perfect for a over night stop on a walking trip
Bar was friendly. Few lights did not work in my room and has the feeling of being a bit worn but ideally for my needs
