Awesome location, hidden away and when you go down the steps the cave ooens and is illuminated. The atmosphere is incredible inside and will be made enjoyable when indoor dining is available again. We ordered a salvadorian coffee which was good and a hot chocolate which was delicious. We tried a tuna sandwich and a egg salad sandwhich, they were decent. Dessert was rocky road and lemon and almond cake which were both delicious. Will definetly come back again.

Delightful! The barista was charming and amusing, made a superb hot chocolate with the works - my husband said "it's good enough to come back for, even with the hill!" The sandwiches were delicious, just perfect for lunch, and reasonably priced. The book selection is eclectic (and I was amused to find a German copy of the Geisha) and the sofas super comfy. Charge me rent, I'd be happy to stay! πŸ˜†πŸ¦Ž

Lovely little cafe! Loved the organic lemonade and coffee walnut cake. Their tea's are a must try! The guy at the counter is super friendly which makes the entire ambience so much more interesting.

The most charming little place! This building used to be a cellar...and it's nearly 1000 years old (hence why there aren't any toilets - but there's some just up the road inside the Castle grounds, where you buy your tickets). Really good prices for the food and drink...and such comfy sofas!

Just randomly fell upon this place wanting a quick brew and a cake. Sat outside watching the world go by and was delivered freshly ground superb coffee in a french press with delightful little cups. Husband had rocky road which he said was a good balance of all ingredients with a good bitter chocolate. I had gluten free lemon sponge which was soft bitter sweet and so morish. Would recommend

What a lovely place to visit. I've walked past this place nearly every week for years now and never actually been inside. But today i saw it was open and decided to order a coffee for my partner and I. The coffee was perfect and the man behind the counter was very friendly. We had a chat about all sorts while the coffee was being made and how him and his dad have owned it for 8 years now. I really hope this place makes it through the pandemic as it's a lovely coffee shop and would be a shame.

Absolutely great! The guy serving was really friendly despite being busy and having to cope by himself. The atmosphere of the cafe was great. A relaxed feel and the place was definitely what the name suggests. If you want cake, coffee and you love books I'd say this place was definitely worth a try.
