It was a slow week for the Scottish games. Where were all the people? That being said, it's an experience, not just a restaurant. Phone orders. Ugh. She doesn't take phone orders. Just the other night, she had an order for five cheese pizzas. Five. And she had to put everyone else off until she got those done. Did they pick them up? No. No pickup, and what do you do with five cheese pizzas? You tell me, what? These people order, and never pick up, so you can come in, order like anyone else, and the food will be ready after it's cooked. Otherwise, they don't take phone orders. Phone orders take away from the customers out front. These people. You know, she got this place off a loan from her brother. She made payments, every month, and you know what he was doing? Interest. He got interest. Every month. She didn't find out until he was dead. (Crosses self). Rest his soul. But seriously, he was charging interest. To his family. Doesn't family mean anything? It used to. Now she owns it completely, has since 2001. No more blood money. And to think, she never knew until he died. What kind of person does that? To his sister? Interest schminterest. It's just uncalled for. Okay, I know it says, "pasta" on the sign. She doesn't do pasta. There's no pasta there. If you want pasta, go somewhere else. If you want food, look at the menu. Pasta takes too long, and she can't be helping other people. Just like these phone orders. Just come in and order. You order, she makes the food. It's how you do things. All of this over the phone stuff These days... Anywho, if you're looking for more than just a fast bite to eat. If you're looking for an experience. If you want to wait a bit for food or service, but then be given a rich cornucopia of lore, suspicion, and flat out grateful thanks for lifting her industrial mixing bowl (the doctors have her a plastic shoulder, and she can't lift it now), head here. She's deaf, caring, and doing her best. The food was delicious, and her stories were more than worth the price of lunch. Would recommend going at a quiet time. She takes each order very seriously, and orders are handled as the previous order is fulfilled. You want to go somewhere else? Go for it. Good luck finding better food.

I went in with my husband and mother-in-law. She ordered the chicken parm sub, which she loved and my husband ordered the cheese steak sub, which he thought was good. I didn't order anything because I was having a terrible gastritis flare-up, but she felt so bad that she offered me free lasagna (which I politely declined) then offered me a creamsicle (which I happily accepted). She was so sweet and great to talk to.

Atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. After a long afternoon of hiking we wanted a quick meal before the drive back and this place did not disappoint. The woman running the restaurant (didn’t catch her name and that’s on me) was very friendly and personable. $55 for four subs, four drinks and nice seats above the river. Best meatballs i’ve had in years and ample parking. I’d eat there again.

Old school atmosphere. Reminded me of places I used to go with my father. Give Barbara the owner, a break. Where have you ever seen an 83 yr old woman owner, that does all the cooking, register, cleaning etc. She is amazing. Outspoken, forgetful, no filter, but the pasta, pizza crust, sauce , meatballs, all homemade. Prices extremely fair. If you are pressed for time, maybe pass her by, but you won’t get pizza where the locals get pizza. She is a gem and worth a smile

A year later I’m still laughing about my experience here. I’d look at the menu and ask for something and the lady would yell at me, “No! We’re out of that! Scratch that off the menu!!” Same thing happened multiple times before I asked “what do you have?!” To which she replied, “What, are you illiterate? Order anything from the menu! What’s wrong with you?!” So I tried a fourth thing on the menu… “No! We’re out of that!! Scratch that off the menu!!” Felt like I’d stepped into a sitcom with somebody’s angry Italian grandma. Had me seriously asking myself “is this real life right now?” You should definitely check this place out if you want to have an UNFORGETTABLE experience.

I absolutely LOVED this woman and this place. An experience that will last a life time. Best pizza around and the service? To die for. (just don't be to slow deciding what you want to order or you'll get scolded 2-3 times for it. Hahahaha!). Well worth the stop.

4 of us stopped while driving by for a pizza. It's ran by 1 lady named Barbara, she does it all from serving to cooking. The menu is smaller because it this, but the pizza was great! She was very friendly towards us and made nice conversation, we all enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend!

Glad I went with my intuition! This place is everything I expected. Quaint country cabin feel with Italian grandma vibes. The lady is as sweet a June honey with a touch of spice. The food is delicious and from the heart. We called ahead for takeout and the pizzas were cooked to perfection with great homemade fried raviolis. I felt like I walked into my Nonnie’s kitchen. If you’re looking for that vintage memory meal this is definitely the place.

Barbra was wonderful. My boyfriend and I arrived in the evening. She was an older woman, who was listening to the 40s music on her radio. Very chill vibe, very old school, and she was a sweetheart. The pizzas were phenomenal and definitely a hidden gem. Personally I think people going in there should have an open heart and mind regardless if she may seem "rude". Just don't take it personally, go for the basics, and something traditional. You will be happy. And we will be returning.

Limited to takeout pizza at time of visit (late Sept 2021) but it was great. The lady at the counter was friendly and seemed to be doing it all...greeting/taking order/making pizza. She was singing along with the radio as she did her thing...a funny experience!
