Steak 'n Shake

I walk in side and there was a little line and they have 4 ordered stations. The dining room have crums and stuff on that tables and was full of lingering smoke. The food didn't take long but the burger was chard and had some hard bits that was uneatable. The cheese sauce tasted old and have a different taste. I don't think I will be returning.

As you can see on my receipt I did NOT add lettuce tomato or mayo. But from my sandwich you can see all 3 items clearly. I can't eat mayo on a hot sandwich. It will make me violently ill. I had already taken my order home before realizing their mistake. When I tried to call several times there was no answer. As I live out of town and was not about to drive back. So since no one wants to answer the phone I am left with no other choice but to publicly shame a once favorite restaurant.

Great food and great service! Ordering only available through kiosks, which at first we were skeptical of, but it made ordering from an unfamiliar menu a breeze and actually helped all of us get what we wanted quicker and easier. Food arrived rather fast, we didn't have too much interaction with staff but when we did they all seemed very nice. Our food was enjoyed by all and made correctly. Dining area could have been a little cleaner, but it was lunch time when we stopped and they were extremely busy so that was understood. Definitely recommend stopping here!

Do not go here. I've never seen a dirtier restaurant. The floor has sticky with dried catchup, non of the tables were cleaned after customers used them. I had to effectively bus my own table just to sit and eat. Couldn't tell you I'd the food was good, I just shoveled it into my month to get out of there asap. Saw an employee empty the trash before we left, but when we took our tray over, even that was disturbingly dirty. If your the manager or owner, please institute a better cleaning policy. Someone needs to be out in that dinning area every 15 min cleaning tables. And a quick mop every now and then too please. Don't throw your investment away like this.

No servers to come to your table. Place your order at a kiosk, and wait for your number to be called. I liked it much better when servers came to your table. Food was good but the atmosphere was drab. Hardly anyone in the place at 7pm on a Friday night. Paper straws with a milkshake just don't work! Had to go ask for spoons that should've been offered when I got the milkshakes. Burgers are very thin. Order 2 or 3 if you want some real meat. Tasted good though. Not sure if I'll come back.

They no longer have servers or cashiers, so instead of a diner, it’s now a cafeteria. I’ll admit, it’s more efficient, but also more impersonal. Not a place I’d enjoy eating if I were looking to sit and enjoy a meal. Considering it was empty on a Saturday night, I imagine other people feel the same. It’s now just like any other fast food joint, except the shake machine works…

I would give this place 0 stars but I had to put one to make a review so my review is everything is kiosk here. I tried to order food but employees ignore customers questions and kiosk doesn't except USD cash money. this is the first time since the pandemic started to come here and now on I'll never come back here again even so this is the last restaurant in Illinois and would rather starve than come back here. I tried getting the employees attention but get ignored. so I'll be going to a mom and pop place to eat and have menus in hand and pay USD currency of actual money in hand.
