Staff are attentive and efficient, little mix up with the steaks but we were a large party so its an easy mistake and they still both enjoyed their meal before any one of them had noticed. Drinks were served quickly at the bar and the atmosphere is always lovely here. The food was amazing, I have never had a bad experience. I used to eat here with my foreign friends when they come visit Liverpool for the full english breakfast. Highly recommended.
Albert's Schenke is such a nice bar. There's a staff member at the door to welcome you in and the setting and layout of the bar is excellent.
They have lots of great beers on offer, from around the world and the UK.
Prices are slightly higher than surrounding bars, but the service and quality of the beer make up for this.
< AN EXCEPTIONAL SUNDAY ROAST >
The star of the show was the pork knuckle, which was cooked to perfection, tender on the inside and delightfully crispy on the outside. Paired with the amazing Yorkshire pudding and rich, flavorful gravy, it created a symphony of tastes and textures that left me thoroughly satisfied.
What sets this restaurant apart is the fact that it's one of the few places in Liverpool that serves pork knuckle, making it a unique gem in the city's culinary scene. The attention to detail in each element of the dish was evident, from the carefully prepared sides to the presentation of the meal. The addition of sweet potato mash as part of the roast was a delightful surprise, adding a touch of sweetness and creaminess that perfectly complemented the roast.
The combination of flavours, textures, and the perfectly complementing beer made for a delightful culinary adventure. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot to gather with friends and family for a leisurely Sunday feast.
If you're in search of the perfect Sunday roast that includes a mouthwatering pork knuckle, delectable Yorkshire pudding, and a satisfying beer, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. The skill full execution of flavours, along with the inviting ambiance, creates an experience that captures the essence of a Sunday well spent.
Stopped by this modern and inviting bar and restaurant one weekday for an early dinner and it was well worth it. I tried the specialty schweinshaxe which was a bit of a huge meat eaters feast and well worth it. The taste was satisfying with largely tender and juicy meat that was well coupled with the braised red cabbage, sweet apple sauce and generous gravy. The only thing I would have hoped for would be crispier skin as the skin was infused with sauce reducing pretty much all hope for crispiness.
The Haus Scotch egg was also delicious, crispy on the outside filled with a slightly runny egg and meaty sausage. I'm not totally convinced about the acidic brown sauce accompanying the scotch egg, but the pickles were a nice addition.
Service was fantastic. I was served by Dorrie who was so friendly and helpful and made the meal even more enjoyable.
Our server was lovely, super nice, smiley and attentive!
Prices are all extremely reasonable, very good cocktail menu.
Had the cheeseburger, very good! The huge, sauce was great, the patties were cooked well and the grill it was cooked on was lovely and greasy.
Wursts were MASSIVE!! But not heavy, the brioche was toasted but light a fluffy.
Steak chips were also massive with the Steak Fritz, basically quarter potatoes!! Because they were so big meant they weren’t all cooked evenly, very crispy but quite dry.
Overall really liked the place, the food was good, staff were super friendly and prompt. Can’t ask for more!
I went there with my family for our day trip in Liverpool, and I booked our table through their website. The staff was welcoming. The environment was nice. The Sunday roasts were AMAZING! The roast beef was perfectly-cooked, the pork knuckle was huge and delicious, and everything was well-seasoned.
Large open plan seating, large selection of beers & various drinks 🍹 broad food menus with good Vegan options. Authentically Bavarian 😋
A great bar with a great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, and the food is lovely 😋. Highly recommend.
Took a group of 10 for Sunday Roast to Albert's Schenke (Hanover St, Liverpool) & was not disappointed. Service from Doreen was exceptional throughout our stay. She helped find the right meals for my guests who had a variety of dietary requirements. All the meals were excellent in quality, portion size & value. Well supported by a vast range of wines, draught beers & cocktails. Highly recommended.
Albert's Schenke is essentially a German themed restaurant serving dishes such as pork knuckle and bratwurst, in addition to favourites such as fish and chips. The food is of a high standard and the eating area is light and airy. The service is excellent being both professional and friendly.
The wine list is limited and not particularly imaginative but the wines on offer are reasonably priced.
There is also a bar area and serves up some very good cocktails and a variety of beers. Sandwiches are also on offer.
This restaurant is certainly worth a visit, if only for the German food experience, but it certainly offers a lot more than that.
