The Yuet Ben is possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Liverpool. It has certainly stood the test of time and been there for as long as I can remember. The food was excellent as usual and I would recommend the chilli beef and carrots and the toffee apple! Don't just take my word for it....book a table and give it a whirl! We had a three course meal with two drinks each for just under £50!!! Highly recommended X

Great food, not heavy food like other chinese restaurants. Warm and friendly. Real Chinese food as it should be.

Back in Liverpool, UK for Christmas I had a hankering for a great Chinese banquet. Bizarrely my parents remember eating here in the 70s so when it popped up on Yelp we thought it would be fun to try. The decor is nothing to write home about, it's clean and functional, laminated menus. And the food? PHENOMENAL. We chose one of the banquets for 4 and everything was just perfect. Chicken & Sweetcorn soup was full of flavor (not at all slimey as it sometimes can be), my brother was very happy with his Hot & Sour soup and my Mum raved about some kind of mushroom soup that she chose. Ribs were next and the meat just fell off the bone. We ordered an extra portion of sesame prawn toasts, I've eaten lots of these in my time and they were hands down the best ever. Just the right combination of prawn mixture to bread with crunchy sesame on top. Ahhh, peking crispy duck and pancakes. Other than bacon sandwiches this is the #1 food I dream about eating on trips back home. We've spent many evenings in Chinese restaurants in Chinatowns in Boston, NYC, San Fran trying to find this dish in the US and the pancakes are always thick and floury, the Hoi Sin sauce medicinal tasting and the duck flabby and dry. Not at the Yuet Ben. Perfectly moist duck meat and crispy skin. You must get duck!!! Main courses were delicious esp the chicken cashew. We had a few beers with dinner and the service was just right - not too in your face but there when you need something. 10/10 to Yuet Ben.

The best Chinese food I've ever eaten. Located in Chinatown Liverpool. Fabulous food - also the first time I ever tried crispy seaweed! Have eaten in Yuet Ben often over the last few years whilst on trips to Liverpool and it's just amazing. Lovely friendly staff and some superb wines as well.

The best Chinese food of my life!!! Its like a trip to China with your best friend!! We asked the owner (who is legendary friends with several big hitters in the music biz) to serve us his favorites and the hits kept coming! The food was incredible and the conversation memorable. One of our best meals across the Pond!!! Highly recommend!

Yuet Ben is a family-run restaurant, and it is clear to see from looking at the website alone that it is a popular one. Situated in China Town near to the Gate, it often goes unnoticed sat quietly on the corner. However, Yuet Ben is not like the majority of other Chinese restaurants in the area that stay open til 4am and cater mainly for drunks. Yuet Ben offers gorgeous food at good prices and it is obvious they take pride in everything they do here. The sense of family extends to the customers, even if it's your first time here, and it is somewhere you always mean to go back to but, if you're like me, you keep forgetting. With a fair few celebrity fans as well, this Chinese stands apart from the others and is worth looking into on the odd occasion you might actually want a proper Chinese meal and not a pissed-up beer quencher.

Simplicity is best, and in the modern age it is actually refreshing to see that some restaurants are sticking to the simple formula of sticking to traditional dishes with traditional prices. The only thing worth talking about with Yuet Ben is the food, and by Lord it's good. Now I'm not normally a soup fan, but the chicken, mushroom and noodle soup here is so full of flavour that you might want an encore. What a great starter to your meal. Always a bonus that, if you get off to a flying start. It's always a good sign! It goes so well with the customery prawn crackers to boot. The mains come in neat sections, Pork, Beef, Lamb, poultry and seafood. This is again nicely complimented by a simple side helping of noodles or rice. Or alternatively you can order a proper rice and noodle dish which comes in a bigger portions, such as mixed meat chowmein or Yuet ben mixed fried rice. Average cost of a meal will come in roughly under £15, in which you will be able to well and truly gorge on arguably some of the best oriental cuisine dishes. Doesn't get much better than that formula does it. I just love this place I really do,the dining experience is just so damn satisfying. You leave well and truly fed to the max and without too much damage to the wallet. It definitely has an upper hand on all the other options in Liverpool in my estimation, which is the main reason why you should at least have a gander next time you feel like a Chinese. Badda bing "Ben" bosh!!

While Liverpool's Chinatown may be small, it packs the punch of a district twice its size. It's heaving with Oriental restaurants and it happens to be the oldest Chinese community in Europe. Yuet Ben (translating roughly as 'welcome, honoured guest') is one of its best restaurants, and its bright and bold decor reveals a confident, brash 'look-at-me' attitude and an ambience that's buzzing. You don't find as many Chinese customers in here as you would in Mei Mei, but don't let that put you off because Yuet Ben's had some great accolades over the years. Plus only the tiniest amount of MSG is used in the cooking so there shouldn't be an issue where that's concerned. I'd heartily recommend the hot platter of appetisers to share, it's great if you've got a few dining companions and gets all the classics in there like prawn toasts, spring rolls and won tons with amazing dipping sauces. Delish. The spare ribs here are the only thing that's brought me within biting distance of breaking my pescetarianism. I used to adore spare ribs as a kid and the sight of them sticky and gloopy with Chinese sauce just kills me. Remember I'm a non-meat eater due to experience, not due to ideology. My negative memories of the bad times associated with meat have put me off and there were only two things keeping me from grabbing the ribs - the fact that the meat texture vom association would probably have me Technicolor yawning all over the table, and the fact that... they're messy. Like, embarrassingly messy. A tip. Don't order them on a date, whatever you do. The mains are equally yummy, and there's plenty of stuff on there that strays from your boring Chinese takeout fodder. The service is the only downer really. It's good, by all means, and efficient, but a little clipped and schoolmarm-ish. At least, it was when I visited. I could be wrong about the other staff. All in all it's definitely a worthy Chinese restaurant in the district and I'd heartily recommend it if you're in the mood.

Yuet Ben is a well established Chinese restaurant on George Street Liverpool. As far as I know it's a family restaurant that has proved very successful over the years. It a very spacious restaurant and they offer a massive menu. I went here with my friend Emma and she is a vegetarian and she loves it hear because the offer a good range of vegetarian foods. This place is idea for families and the prices are quite cheap. I love it here because I love Chinese food and there is so much to choose from. They have several banquets that could pretty much cater for everyone as far as am concerned. As you walk past the window you can see that it is generally always busy, the good this is you never have to book a take because they always seem to have room. Not ideal for dates but ideal for meeting up with friends and having a good meal

Yuet Ben was established in 1968 at 29 Great George Street, a stone's throw from its present premises. Since then, Yuh Ho Yau and his family have consistently prepared, cooked and served dishes with the authentic flavours of Northern Chinese Cuisine. Yuh Ho was born in Yantai, Shandong. He learned his culinary skills in Dalian, from the very early age of sixteen. Before settling in Liverpool, Yuh Ho had worked in restaurants in Beijing/Peking, Hong Kong and New York. The restaurant is today run by his daughter Theresa and her husband Terry Lim. They and their staff endeavour to maintain Yuh Ho's high standard and consistency. Yuet Ben means Welcome Honoured Guest and believe me you will be treated as such- wonderful food and service.

Yuet Ben is a great restaurant. Excellent service, wonderful food and reasonable prices. It's on the very edge of China Town and unless you were looking for it, it's easy to miss. However, this is definitely a place to search out. The decor is simple and the restaurant has a nice relaxed ambience. Although popular, it never seems to be overrun so you can enjoy a meal without feeling crowded. Great place for a special meal.

Lovely setting with great views over the Chinatown gate. Lovely curries (we had garlic prawn, blackbean beef, hot spicy chicken and sweet sour fish. Egg fried rice was lovely. Prawn toast wasn't our favourite but was fine. Prices reasonable and the deals for two look like good value. Nice elegant setting, lovely manager and good curries. Interesting vegan menu too

Absolutely fantastic food with incredible service. Excellent value & highly recommended. I believe this is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Liverpool and there is great reason for it. The prawn toast was very delicious and freshly made. Highly recommend asking for their own made chilli oil which was scrumptious. The spicy lamb was tender and full of flavour. I asked for it to be extra spicy which they kindly obliged. The prices are very reasonable. The service is very friendly and the chef & owners greet & interact with you. Highly recommended

Fifty years since our last visit!! Still the gold standard in Chinese food, after all these years. We were once their best customers when it first opened—-at least three times per week. Travelled far and wide since then. Still outstanding

After a Chinese New Year visit, we decided to eat in Chinatown late Saturday afternoon. Only 2 Restaurants open and, we picked the best! Although the portions aren't the biggest, they are the best. Its been years since we've had a decent Chinese meal. The Welcome was good and the service excellent 👏 It will be our 'Go To' from now on.

We have eaten at The Yuet Ben for many, many years and have never even once been disappointed. We have also had many take aways ( collections) from there and they have been brilliant too. The food is second to none. We visited the restaurant last night with our young grandchildren who won’t eat any other ribs apart from ‘Terry’s ribs ‘ !!!….’ they have got very good taste, they are amazing !! As usual all of the food was superb, freshly cooked and swiftly served by great staff. We finished with the toffee apples which definitely deserve a mention ! We have been patrons of this restaurant for many years but somehow you never seem to think to give your favourites a review - I am rectifying this now and I would advise anyone to go and visit Terry and Theresa and enjoy some wonderful food which is always consistent. You are in for a treat !

We had our best ever Chinese meal here last week. Can honestly say we enjoyed every mouthful. The starters were amazing - especially the spare ribs and crispy duck with chilli sauce . We had Menu B but swapped the chicken for King Prawns and that was such a good decision as the Prawns were cooked to perfection. Just wish that I’d had room for dessert as my husband thoroughly enjoyed his .Meal was very reasonable and we had a lovely view of the lit up gate. Can’t wait to return to Liverpool again so that we can visit this restaurant again.

Visited for a take away, picked here as they have a full separate Vegan menu. Loads of choices which isn't always the case at a Chinese! The sweetcorn soup is AMAZING! Can't wait to go back and have it again! The whole meal tasted super fresh and for a take away it tasted clean, not greesy at all. Highly recommend. Staff lovely too

First time visit after my brother and his wife have been visiting for decades and I can’t believe I hadn’t been here sooner, everyone agreed the food was delicious, the staff/owner was lovely. We will be making this our go to Chinese restaurant in Liverpool City Centre from now on.
