A pub with character and history. Also a very nice atmosphere amongst the patrons. Mostly locals the afternoon I visited and really friendly.
I only gave a one star rating for food because they don’t serve any! No problem with that in my opinion. The real ale is very well kept. The best I have had for a long time.
I will be going back for sure.
Great old Liverpool pub great atmosphere lovely friendly staff, a must if visiting Liverpool the pub also has strong connection with the Beatles.
Great atmosphere.. so popular, many of the beers had sold out..
I was here just recently. My son and I met these really lovely locals. Anyway, a few hours later, these regulars were well what can I say, very well lubricated. They were aged in the late 80s. The staff ensured that they were taken home safely and carried them to a taxi, giving the taxi driver a few quid to look after them and the other end.
The staff really care about their patrons here, so go and spend some money.
Great pub full of friendly characters. A strong selection of lager on offer.
'Proper' old pub in the middle of the party district. Historic for the back lounge where band managers used to sit in the back and pay the bands their salaries - including, you guessed it, The Beatles.
Bar man was overly accommodating even walking us to the back lounge to show us where there were seats.
Takes card.
We enjoyed a few drinks sitting outside the white star with our dog.
However when I walked inside with his to ask for a bowl of water was asked to leave, when I pointed out that we had already been served twice with the dog out side and I was simply looking for water I was given pint glass for him
Absolute gem of a Liverpool City centre pub . Very nice range of real ales on tap to choose from . Friendly service and nice mix of background music to make you want to sit back and stay a little longer than you originally planned.
After searching for a decent pub we found the White Star. We met a lot of lovely people and the Landlady and staff went above and beyond to get us a taxi due to my disability. There was a brilliant singer/ Comedienne. When they found out it was our anniversary it was brilliant. Once again thanks to the Landlady and her staff. We will return
