Used to live in the area so when we came to Liverpool we decided to have a meal and a visit to the pub. We weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly, the prices reasonable and the meal lovely. It was nice to have a gluten free menu on the table without having to ask for it. Will be going again when we visit Liverpool next time.x

Didn't have the food so I can't comment but everything about this place was great, Jordan was a fantastic member of staff
Just popped in last Sunday for a late lunch. Wasn’t looking for a traditional Sunday lunch so chose from the main menu. Food was good, reasonably priced and served in a relaxed and friendly manner. Wanted to mention that Nikki Williamson was particularly helpful and friendly.
Boss pub with a boss atmosphere. Been in a good few times now, usually on a Tuesday for the poker nights and thoroughly enjoy it. Other customers in there seem lovely, but what makes it great for us is that the food is top notch, and the bar staff are great, especially Amy, who is very attentive and really makes us feel at home. Never service without a smile and never a dull pint
Dave and Sarah were so welcoming from the moment we stepped in the door, thought it was great that dogs were allowed in and made a fuss of! Would definitely recommend the food as well, delicious, hot and came quickly! 10/10
Fantastic pub with excellent pub food. OK, it's cheaper to goto Toby and get bigger, but you don't get the location and the history Childwall Abbey has.
Great service, great pub food, great choice. Puddings are great. Did I say its great? Sherry trifle, apple crumble omg salivating again!
Great place for breakfast and lunch and dinner. You get a very warm welcome off all the staff but I will particularly make a mention of Amy the bar lady she is super friendly and has a nothings a problem attitude.
Amy is a absolute credit to the abbey pub and is never backwards in flashing her warm and welcoming great smile.
I will 100% be back.
I don’t often leave reviews, but I feel compelled to for the Childwall Abbey Hotel. My husband and I were driving past and thought we would pop in for some breakfast. We couldn’t seem to get in, and the weather was awful so I said that we should just leave, but someone saw us through the window. A young lad answered the door and when we said we were just hoping to get some breakfast he explained that the housekeepers were still cleaning up, and we were still welcome to come in if we didn’t mind. We didn’t mind at all, and our experience was absolutely lovely. It’s such a cosy place, the breakfast was beautiful and the service was wonderful as well. Everyone was so nice. Can’t wait to return!
Love this pub! Dave and Sarah are amazing hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The Sunday roast is wonderful, I'm happy as they cater for vegans.
Good local pub with lots of character. Great bear garden and some ok kids play equipment although adding to and updating these is long overdue. Has a bowls club as well. Good range of quality beers and decent parking across the road. Always a good number of people here and a good atmosphere. Dogs welcome also in half of the pub.
Beautiful pub/inn with a church across the road and great view. Friendly staff, comfy beds and good drinks.
Picked for proximity to Liverpool Hope University we checked in extremely late thanks to the gracious staff (normally it’s 9!) and had a lovely chat enjoying a drink after a long drive.
The rooms are easy to access above the pub, with large (king-size, maybe super-long) soft comfy beds, a good-sized Tv, WiFi, basic coffee/tea mirror with hair dryer and en-suite. The windows don’t open fully but do allow in enough fresh air.
The bathrooms were retro-fitted and have macerators - you can definitely hear yours, seemingly anytime you use the plumbing. So a little consideration is needed but wasn’t woken or disturbed by anyone else’s.
It’s a shame we missed breakfast as it smelt great, and if you give a little time you might hear stories like the brides etching their names into the glass on the front windows. Everyone we encountered was friendly and thoughtful.
Think characterful stone pub with 3-star rooms and staff with personality. Would definitely stay again, arrive in time for dinner and take time to savour the view.
