Village Eatery

I booked a table of 3 for 16:20 on Dec 10th 2023. I called to state I was running 5-10 minutes late. Once we arrived at 16.30 we were in a queue behind people who had not booked at all. Once we were at the front Teresa (FOH) informed me that as we arrived later than ten minutes the table had been cancelled. Even though I called to say we would be late. She informed us that they only hold the table for ten minutes. This was never relayed to me when I called. I can understand holding a table for only ten minutes IF the customer hadn’t called to inform the restaurant they would be late. Then, I explained we’re only over ten minutes because of the queue of people that hadn’t even booked. To which Teresa replied, ‘You’ve not been waiting that long!’ May I politely suggest that Teresa take part in further customer service training as her behaviour towards us made us feel unwelcome. To the point that we felt perhaps we were the wrong race for the establishment? I sincerely hope this is not the case. Working in hospitality myself I wouldn’t dream of treating customers this way! On the plus side the large plate was generous in size with plenty of meat, fresh veg, of which there was plenty to choose from and the roasties were crispy. Just how I like them. Perhaps the pub was under staffed today but that do not excuse Teresa’s behaviour towards us.

Ideally located with good transport links. The carvery was of a good standard with plenty of choice and was well topped up. The price overall was very reasonable and all the staff members we dealt with were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months and a good sized car park. We will certainly visit again when in the area.

Our host named Jody (who has served us before) went absolutely above and beyond to provide us the best experience yet again. She is very friendly, welcoming and helpful and defines outstanding hospitality. Nothing was too much even getting us a box to take our leftovers home for the dog (pass on that buddy said thank you). All your staff in aintree are wonderful but Jody really is exemplary and we all hope that she is commended for how fabulous she was. Safe to say we’ll definitely be returning soon for our regular roast with our usual host xx

Best carvery I've had in ages an that says a lot because I'm so selective with my roast dinners. The staff were so nice, they even gave me more mint sauce because I'm a mint sauce fiend. They also gave me the best looking Yorkshire pudding so thanks for that, really filled the Yorkshire pudding shaped hole in my heart. Really cheered me up because I was having a bad day after being falsely accused of being an imposter, but I didn't feel like an imposter at Toby carvery Aintree.

There unfortunately was queues to be seated and longer than expected queues at the Carvery obviously location I anticipate makes this a popular choice for many and it was Sunday also. Food at the Carvery was steaming hot. Our server Joseph was amazing, couldn't ask for a better server nothing was too much trouble honestly he is wasted In the kitchen.
