Authentic Kerala restaurant, very well balanced costal flavours. The beef fry / Ularthiyath is infused with coconut oil and light spices intermingled with curry leaves. Other stars in the ensemble were poratta, avial, Kuttanad fish curry, chicken vartharachatha and dosa.

Date: Monday 23.07.18
Time: 19.30pm

Had the following dishes:

B.D.F (BEEF DRY FRY) - Amazing Crispy Beef Starter - Highly recommend this dish. Full of flavour and spice.

BEEF ULARTHU - Also called as Beef Fry in Kerala. The most popular and the best Beef preparation in Kerala. Dry preparation of Beef cooked in traditional Kerala style with aromatic ground spices, onion, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. When the beef curry is reduced of its sauce in slow heat, all the flavours and taste are absorbed into the tender beef. A Must try Dish from Kerala - I must say this was another favourite of mine which some great spices and not something i have tried before but I will be sure to have this dish again. Beef was so succulent and the spices are to remember for sure.

LAMB MASALA DOSA - Rice and lentil pancake stuffed with mildly seasoned potato and Lamb served with sambar and chutneys - I have never seen a lamb version of this dish but i have had a duck version from another place and i am sorry to say there is not much flavour in this version so would either stick to the normal version or skip this as you can get better in other places.

MALABAR LAMB BIRIYANI - Biriyani is a favourite Indian dish made with rice and meat, fish or vegetables. Our biriyanis have an indigenous recipe from Malabar (North Kerala). This delicacy from the Malabar region of Kerala is very popular among the biriyani lovers. Long grained rice flavoured with exotic spices like saffron, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, cinnamon etc are layered with lamb, chicken, fish or vegetables and cooked in a thick gravy. All our biriyanis are served with raita and pickle. A nice dish with egg as well which worked well but i must say the other beef dishes were so good it took the edge of this as there was less taste and seemed more like the usual biriyani just with the egg. Not a bad dish but there are better dishes on the menu worth getting instead.

GULAAB JAMUN - This delicious Indian dessert is a soft, melt-in-mouth, fried dumplings traditionally made of thickened or reduced milk, soaked in rose flavoured sugar syrup served with vanilla ice cream. Served warm and large balls which i was told is home made which i believe but i think there were a few issue in that there was little too much syrup and the outside was not crispy but the centre was nice and fluffy. Unfortunately i really wanted to like this dish but there are better places

Cost: £200 for 9 of us.

Conclusion: Not a bad location as it is located within easy each of a number of tube and train stations and very good friendly service. I was in a large group hence i did not really get to try all the dishes ordered or was able to take any photos so i plan to go again to do another full review. They have a large menu which usually means quality of the food suffers but the beef dishes were excellent and there are a lot of dishes i have never heard of so i want to come back to try some more. I would recommend a visit. The decor is not anything special but still was comfortable and there is AC.

This was really excellent experience. I expect great food, but it overcame my expectation. It was absolutely perfect. But what surprised me the most, was the level of service.

Once in Kilburn or near Queens Park, you must visit.

Really hidden treasure between a lot of ordinary restaurants and fast foods.

I loved the two varieties of fish curries (one with a coconut and raw mango base and the other with tamarid base), the beef ularthiyathu, the appam, and the porottas. It took me back to my home in Kerala.

You always judge a restaurant by the classics they can cook, and the innovative dishes they can come up with. They have kept true to the classics and having spoken to them about the innovative dishes they are going to introduce in their menu, I have no doubt they will be the next big center for all food lovers.

I will definitely be going back there again.

Beautiful Food. I'm constantly amazed at how quiet this place is given the quality of the food, superb service and fantastic prices.
Have been going here for over 15 years and if anything, the food is getting more delicious!
Highly, highly recommended.

Should get more attention. Vijay's, a couple of doors down, get's talked about a lot more than Anjanaas. I like Vijay's but think the food here just shades it, especially the MASSICVE masala dosas. Well worth a try

Wonderful. The new Geeta. Same location as the old Geeta. An even better restaurant. Same excellent value prices and great cooking. Enhanced cooking skills are evident here. Menu is new but with all the old favourites as well as many new things to experience. Breads are still great , more delicate. Chutneys and spices are very good. Even better the decor has been enhanced and is now excellent without being 'suburban'. Who would have thought this? Geeta was always 'underdecorated' and not the place for a first date... now it is!
Have been here 3 times in 6 weeks. Even some of the dishes we were less keen on have been upgraded. I've seen many of the regular visitors.

Absolutely delighted by the Onam Sadya at Anjanaas Restaurant! The food was nothing short of a lavish feast and the taste took me straight to Kerala. Each delicacy, from creamy avial, piquant sambar to sweet palada pradhaman, were cooked to perfection; each dish telling a story of rich culinary heritage. An authentic representation of Kerala cuisine on a banana leaf! The ambiance and staff added to the pleasant experience. Kudos to the chef for preserving the unique flavours! A visit here is recommended for anyone in search of a truly delightful Onam Sadya experience.

Food is alright!. Nothing to brag about. I had chicken masala dosa, beef ularthiyath and prawn fry. Taste is also in the same order with dosa filling being just a filling. Prawn fry and appam was very good. So if you want some Kerala food and if you are in the visibility then try it. Not worth sitting in the tube for an hour !

Goood food, King prawn curry was great (spicy side), appams were okay. The grilled fish was good, the mushrooms steamed in banana leaf was nice, i wouldn't order it again though. Overall the seafood dishes seem promising. Would definitely return.

The sadya was excellent - beautiful food, each of the dishes was extraordinary. It was a perfect balance between taste and richness, although we ate to our hearts content, it felt like home cooked meal. The staff were very kind to accommodate us without a booking The meal itself was very hearty and Authentic. I’d be very happy to go there again next year with a larger group. Service was also of good quality. The seating inside is a bit congested and can take improvement in aesthetics and decor. It’s a great place to go in if food is priority. Not the best fit for a long evening. I’d highly recommend them for a special occasion though.

What a fabulous Vishu sadya (traditional Kerala feast) Everything on our banana leaf was delectable and authentic! Traveled over 2 hours each way for the food and it was definitely worth it!

Really pleasantly surprised with this takeaway! The korma wasn’t as sweet as you get from elsewhere and had a little bit of a kick to it, which was lovely! The peshwari (sweet) naan was delicious. And the paneer makhani was excellent. Would definitely order from here again.

Awesome food with real mallu taste. (I wish I knew what chilly they are using in the curries). Had porotta - was very soft and fluffy; Beef dry fry - was a bit sour (I guess it it cow meat, and not buffalo) but otherwise crispy and fried good; chicken curry - another excellent item. Staff was friendly. Washrooms were clean. Was a bit pricey. Good ambience. However, not very quiet. They charged 10% service charge. Not sure if it is normal/legal in UK though. Had to travel for an hour to reach there. No regrets.

Delicious South Indian meal that tastes incredible. Thé food almost felt home cooked .Loved the simplicity and authenticity of the coastal flavours. Beef ularthu is my fav and I order it everytime . I would recommend you to dine in if you want to eat Dosas . The sambar was delicious too . The appams and Malabar parathas were perfectly soft. Highly recommend Anjanaas for a tasty South Indian meal .
