A good friend and I recently went to this well-regarded restaurant in the heart of Marylebone, an area that exudes quiet sophistication. The restaurant is run by husband and wife team Giulia Isola and Eduardo Tuccillo. Eduardo’s first introduction to food was in his grandmother’s kitchen in Naples where she fed 16 grandchildren. He went on to become an international chef cooking in places as diverse as New York and South Africa and has been awarded two AA Rosettes. He and wife started Twist Kitchen five years ago and it has now got a formidable local reputation.
great night with friends Last night dining at twist at crawford st. Relaxed Atmosphere , few good fresh tapas, and a really good T-bone Steak , Full of Iron, Vitamin B-12, B-6, magnesium etc.. Tender and Medium rare with nice sides. Satisfied!
I was looking for somewhere cute but special for a celebratory lunch and Twist popped up on my radar. Hidden away near Edgware Road station, Twist was a cosy find and a perfect way to celebrate a birthday. The staff were great and once we had told them that I was vegetarian, they were able to recommend their favourites from the vegetarian section.
Stylish place offering delicious food
Cosy 2 floors restaurant with a very creative range of food, a very interesting unpretentious interior design, and extremely friendly service if they are not too busy. Get ready to see thing in the menu that you won't be able to find anywhere else, and that might be mind-blowing. I would repeat with pleasure!
Great tapas! Surprisingly good quality food with great taste. The service was pretty good as well. Probably the second best tapas place in london just after barrafina
Superb tapas, very tasty quality ingredients sevive also very good and a lots of
attention friendly and smiley deftly my favorite restaurant in Marylebone
going back soon.
went there for a client lunch and ordered every single tapas dish on the menu. they were mostly very good. the standout dishes were the octopus, the beef bavette and the courgette flower dessert special orgasmic !!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing little jem in Marylebone. Nice decor and super staff. Great wine list and obviously, what make this restaurant great is the food! Sharing tapas that you cannot stop to order. Will go back again and again
Brilliant restaurant, amazing food and super staff. Every dish is to dye for. Tapas are delicious and portion are quite large and you can share them so that you are able to order more and taste different dish. This is my favourite restaurant in London!!!
Charming fusion tapas in Marylebone. The menu is mostly tapas with inspiration from Spain, Italy and even Japan. Service was outstanding and the space is intimate, casual and charming with a nice open kitchen. The full review with lots of picture is on my blog.
Impeccable service and food with great potential. The menu includes mostly tapas sized dishes with a mix of Spanish, Italian and even Japanese influences. The home made pasta and risotto were to die for. Some of the josper oven dishes were also very good and some could use more seasoning. The chocolate tart is yummy.
Twist: Cozy Local Restaurant in Marylebone serving Tapas with a Twist.
A new restaurant called Twist recently opened on Crawford Street in Marylebone and I decided to try them out for brunch.
My order of ‘Twisted Eggs’ - baked eggs in a pan with tomatoes and marjoram leaves - were delicious and made me keen to check them out for dinner. The restaurant has a warm cozy atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive. I liked the rustic decor of the place though be warned – there are one or two tables with some uncomfortable chairs!
We started with some classic pardron peppers and some Jamon Iberico. I’m a big fan of croquetas and their delicate crumb fried Cavolo Nero Croquetas with Ramesco sauce were delicious. A must-order dish.
The next time at a dinner I discovered the menu, despite having a quite few Spanish dishes, is less about serving quintessential Spanish tapas and more about ‘fusion tapas' (in their own words). There’s a mix of Asian and Mediterranean dishes - I guess this allows the chefs more creativity.
We then had Sea bass Ceviche with fennel, radish and black current – a very pretty looking dish with spirals of fennel and radish creating a charming visual but that aside, it was a bit disappointing since the sea bass got lost among all those spirals and the combination didn’t work. I liked Ahi Tuna with a Yuzu dressing but it wasn't especially memorable.
I’m happy to report though the rest of the dishes didn’t disappoint. The marbled skirt steak marinated in smoked garlic and parsley was seriously succulent and juicy (I wish the portion size was bigger) and the Pig’s Cheek with shallots and ham was exactly how you would imagine it to be – slow cooked meat that literally dissolves in your mouth.
In an attempt to have a balanced meal we ordered some rather nice roasted vegetables and truffled potatoes. Desserts were also good - we had the the Salted Chocolate tart and the Granny smith Pannacotta.
Overall, a pleasant dinner though given the whole tapas concept you tend to order a lot more dishes since the portions are small and in the end the bill was much higher than I expected (around £50 per person with a bottle of wine). Still I think Twist on Crawford Street is welcome addition to the neighbourhood if you live in Marylebone or near Edgware road.
It’s got the nice relaxing atmosphere of a neighbourhood local with friendly staff where you can aalways manage to get a table. Since they are new, I hope in the next few months they can fix their weak dishes - I think with their chef’s creativity around flavours, this little local restaurant has a lot of potential.
lively ambiente. somewhat chaoic seating though very comfty setting with excellent serice at all times highly attentitive. the italien style tapas was very authentic and tasty made with lots of passion. the spanish side didn't really unfold over the course of our dinner. the by the glass was rather disappointing though cheap. tried the sicilian and the toscany wines. the latter was a slight improvement. will perhaps go for the tempranillo the next time as the spanish influence is maybe more acentuated through their wine selection. overall a good foodie experience.
Walked up and down this street and never have I noticed this place before. It probably would have stayed that way, but someone recommend this place to a friend of mine and since I live close by they asked me to go. They told me it was a tapas place and I didn't want to go as I just had tapas the day before. But I went anyway and I'm glad I did it's not your typical tapas restaurant they had interesting combinations on the menu it was like a mixture of tapas, Italian, French and Asian food. I was very hungry as usual and I went for the Morocan lamb cooked in their Josper oven/grill. Meat was cooked exactly how I like it and it went well with the sides I ordered truffled potatoes and daily market veg.
I was very boring and went for the safe options and next time I go I would like to try something new. The experience was good staff were friendly and the decor of the restaurant was quite homey.
Small restaurant but very cosy and has a great atmosphere, perfect for dating.
We ordered the tasting menu which was delicious from beginning to the end. The highlight was the pork shoulders!! It was so tender and flavourful! They added some sort of fish eggs on top of the chargrilled meat to give that extra umami. Highly recommended!
The bone marrow with caviar was another highlight too. The portion was plenty, we left feeling super full.
Service was good but they do charge 15% for service charge.
all dishes were good, except that the stuffed agnolitti was a bit salty for us. especially enjoyed the courgette flower and pork with kimchi sauce, both had layers of interesting flavors.
This is a great hidden restaurant in Marylebone. They have a very extensive wine selection. The best thing to try here is the steak - very nice!
A really welcoming and inviting restaurant. Flavours have a subtle hint of Asian inspired ingredients. A nice evening overall
Had a truly wonderful meal. Every dish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The mussels in sherry and the agnolotti were stand out. The chef came round to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal and if you sit in the Ground floor you get a fun view into the open kitchen.
Will definitely be back!
We came here for a dinner on Friday evening. The restaurant is located within 5min from Marylebone station.
We ordered quite a few tapas dishes to share between two of us. It’s recommended to have 3-4 dishes per person. We order 4 veggie and 2 meat dishes. They were all AMAZING!
The price was on the high end. We ended up paying £60 per person. The environment of the restaurant was quite cozy but decorated with thought.
Will come back for some special occasions.
Eating at Twist is always a treat one should give themselves, the atmosphere is cozy and makes you feel like you are personally taken care of. I’m a regular at connubio, and every time the food seems to get better. This time we had the fried onions, with pepper sauce and it felt like a great spin on such a simple concept. As main we had the T-bone steak, medium rare obviously, and a lovely chocolate mousse with salted caramel ice cream and crumble as dessert.
The service was on point, warm and friendly; which makes me wanting go back for more!
Really enjoyable lunch with good atmosphere and great food. We had the set lunch at £28 for three courses which was good value. We would definitely recommend and will visit again.
Visited for the first time recently and had a really great evening. Sat on a bar table at the window, watching the world go by. Atmosphere is authentic and great service. Food was very good, especially the Iberico pork - wow. Super wine list too.
This meal is perhaps one of the best, if not the best, meal I have ever had. We are both big foodies so that is saying something! We went for the a la carte tasting menu with the paired wines as it was a special occasion for us and we were not disappointed - it's pricey but worth every penny. Our only real regret was that we couldn't just keep eating! Some standouts: anchovy butter, the tomatoes, the oyster mushrooms (I don't even like mushrooms but these were so good!) and of course the T bone steak which was cooked to perfection. All the wines were perfectly paired and delicious and we got to try some wines we wouldn't normally go for including a fizzy red wine. On top of all that, the service was top notch too. We can't wait to come back.
Lovely tapas and the tasting menu have great options (small, medium, or large) and good value wine pairings - 3, 4, 5 (I think) glasses respectively.
We ordered bone marrow which was the highlight of the evening!
Lovely, didn't let us down for our anniversary dinner!
An absolutely amazing meal! Had a lot of the choices on the menu and every dish was pure deliciousness and left you thinking about what flavours you were tasting. I also liked the textures of the dishes, they were unlike anything I’ve had before! I strongly recommend this place!
A fabulous dinner experience for our group of eight. Paulo was extremely welcoming and helpful. The food across the menu was superb, accompanied by beautiful recommended Spanish wine. Aside from once having to request water and wine refill, the service was very good and friendly. We will be back and highly recommend this restaurant to others.
Delicious tapas-style Italo-Spanish restaurant. The interiors are rustic and modern at the same time. It develops on two floors. The kitchen is open and at the back of the restaurant so that you can see exactly how the food is prepared. Some top tips. Get the bone marrow dish. It’s scrumptious. Same goes for the octopus. The mussels are cooked Italian style, with NO cream. Delicious. The desserts sound all very good. We opted for the hazelnuts cremeux. The staff is super friendly. Good selection of wines and spirits.
We capped off a week in London at Twist Connubio. What a meal! The food was exceptional - Iberico pork cheeks, three meat agnolotti, oyster mushrooms… every dish was a hit. We had lovely, good humoured service and the chef was kind enough to check on us at the end of the meal. If you are looking for delicious tapas, great wine, and a warm atmosphere, you can’t do better.
My friend and I ordered the 61£ steak, and it was very tasty. It was a bit undercooked because we asked for medium-well, but it was still delicious. The steak was supposed to be 1KG but ours was a bit heavier so we had to pay an extra 17£.
Had the most fantastic meal after our wedding at Marylebone Town Hall.
Paolo was a great host to us and the team were very attentive. The quality of the food was fantastic, we were a group of 13 and every person was talking about how tasty all of the dishes were.
Paolo also made great wine recommendations for us and I will recommend Twist time and again. Cannot wait to come back one day.
Thankyou to you and your team for a great experience
Great selection of tapas dishes with a nice atmosphere. Would recommend the octopus and the courgette flower. The special the night we went was white truffle pasta which was delicious! Great for sharing multiple dishes and trying different options.
