Had the breakfast with their name on it. Always a good option I find. If a restaurant puts their name on a dish this is a must order for me. The Pera breakfast was exactly what we were after on a sunny autumn morning. We sat outside and enjoyed the food and watching two different sets of newly weds leaving the town.

Pera Restaurant on Upper Street used to be Tod’s Grill, then it was the Brasserie on Upper Street. It now appears to have found its place in this hood. It is also a tastecard member, so there are deals to be had here with 2 for 1. Please note, you need to call before you dine. We arrived on a Monday night to an empty restaurant, but were told that phoning is required. They were nice enough to let us stay, that and the fact there were over 5 other tastecard restaurants nearby waiting to take out business if it was a real issue.

Pera Restaurant hasn't dramatically changed the menu. The Mediterranean grill options available from its predecessors, are still present such as stuffed mushrooms, calamari, garlic king prawns etc. In fact, the menu is not dissimilar to Mem & Laz down the road. Regardless, they all do their thing quite well. It won't get them a Michelin star, but it lines the stomach for local gigs, cocktail drinking or dancing locally.

Prior to a gig at Garage, we opted for Pera Grill as it was at the closer end of Upper Street. I went for the king prawns in a tomato sauce with rice and a side salad. Jacki had a mixed iskender (kebab), chicken and lamb, with yoghurt and tomato sauce.

It's a cute space and the staff are friendly enough. A good option for quick and tasty food. For tastecard holders, its 2 4 1 from Sunday to Thursday for up to two diners.

If you’re in the mood for a varied Mediterranean menu then look no further than Pera in London. Situated on Upper Street between Angel station and Highbury and Islington Pera is a delightful restaurant, especially in Summer as they open out the front doors so you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the busy people of London pass you buy.

I discovered Pera when searching for a restaurant that accepted Tastecard and straight away the restaurant stood out as it had top marks and a high number of fantastic reviews. Mediterranean food is one of my favourite cuisines and after having a peep at the menu and seeing they had such a varied menu I was excited to head down and try it out.

The restaurant is decorated beautifully with it’s wooden decor, little trinkets and big open window section which lets you sit out the front. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in providing suggestions on what to eat. Craig was set on the lamb cutlets which were glazed in a honey and oregano sauce served with sautéed potato and we both wanted to try the mix vegetable mezze. I couldn’t decide what to have and finally opted for the chicken shish however, when we went to order we were informed that with a tastecard you are only entitled to 2 starters and 2 mains. That wasn’t a problem as it meant we could try even more dishes. As we were getting the mezze main to share I decided to mix two starters as a main and opted for the grilled mixed sausage skewer and the goats cheese served on bed of mix leaves topped with caramelized red onion and smoked red pepper. The sausage skewer consisted of chorizo, cumberland sausage and Sucuk (Turkish sausage) served with mix leaves and toasted baguette. The portion was a little on the small side however the taste was very good and before the starters we were given freshly baked pitta which came in handy to have with the sausages plus I then had a big size portion of goats cheese and salad.

It was bread overload by the time our mix vegetable mezze platter arrived which consisted of Humus, cacik, smoked aubergine with yogurt, ezme salad (chilli tomato onion cucumber salsa), ratatouille served with pitta. The ratatouille and smoked aubergine were the highlights to this dish as they were flavoursome without being too oily, I have had aubergine before and found it can sometimes repeat on you if there is too much oil. Craig’s lamb cutlets were extremely tender and the honey sauce was sweet and addictive, I kept dipping my pitta bread in it to soak it all up.

We were heading to the cinema after and were pushed for time however when I next go back I will most certainly get dessert, the cakes looked incredible. I would say it’s worth even just going in to Pera to get a cake which are kept behind a glass counter as you go to pay (good bit of marketing there as I was super tempted just to pick one up for the road).

Good value for money, lovely staff and delicious food Pera is extremely reasonable (especially if you have tastecard) and will leave you full and satisfied and most likely coming back again.

Came because the sign said "best shakshuka in town". It didn't disappoint. I haven't tried all the shakshuka in town, but this was really good, and great value (<£10 for shakshuka with a coffee).

Great little Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant in Islington. We stopped by for a quick break. The hummus - cold and hot servings - is beautifully done, with plenty of spices and splashes of lemon. The restaurant has an easy atmosphere and service is excellent - the owner / manager was warm and welcoming, and very accommodating of customised orders. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is lush but not overdone and the coloured lamps hanging from the ceiling add a nice glow. The bathrooms are below street level and have really interesting bronze taps. Great place, decent prices, and excellent service. Will definitely come again.

Fabulous simple food. I've only been here for the menemen, tomatoes, peppers and spices with baked eggs, but it's delicious, so delicate yet filling served with home made bread. A really healthy tasty brunch. Everyone should really come here and try it. It you don't like it you're just wrong.. But you'll love it. Plus the service is warm and familial.

Very nice home made baklava, good food (eggs royal with generous amount of fish), friendly service. They serve delicious warm bread as a starter with shish. They have fresh juices. Cozy design and calm music. No baby changing facilities.

Was a busy Saturday night and we were 4 people. The service was amazing and the prices are really nice. The quality of food you bet is worth it. There is also a three meal course for £15.95 - worth trying out. The atmosphere is very nice as well.

Service was very fast & attentive, with some Turkish mezze served at the start of the meal. Had the chicken soup which was delicious (creamy & a bit spicy). Also had the garlic shrimp with mushrooms in the hot starters section & wasn't a big fan of it (overcooked). They offer a takeaway service as well if needed (I've taken the chicken soup away :)
