Flora Indica restaurant is named after a book with the same name by Sir Joseph Hooker. He was one of the botanists and explorers discovering over thousands of new exotic plants whilst travelling in India. These findings were captured in a book by the same name published in 1855.  Flora Indica plays homage to these Scottish botanists. Located in the triangle of Earls Court, South Kensington and Old Brompton Road.

Loved the design of the place: a lot of attention has been given and there are some really good quirky details.  The food is good but not exceptional for the price in my humble opinion. Nothing really sent me to food heaven. Maybe my expectations were very high. Some really good dishes like the Jerusalem artichoke chaat and the Malwani prawn, yellow tomato chutney. The soft shell crab and lamb chop were disappointing at £8.50 and £9.50 price tag for very small portion. Chutney Mary does a better cutlet (not cheaper but in St James) .We shared a slow cooked duck leg in coconut sauce (good but not spectacular)  with Slow cooked black lentils and kidney beans (very very good) and a chilli and garlic naan which was soft and warm and a real delight (but small...)It s a very good addition to the neighbourhood but would I travel there again and again if not local? Not sure. Great wine list and service.  Overall very good but pricey for what it is and it has a lot of competition with Cinammon bazaa, Kricket...

Indian food really is my one true love. It’s my dessert island choice of cuisine and I eat it more than any other. At its most basic level, Indian food still manages to offer flavour in abundance and comes in many different guises. The UK foodie boom has also turned our love for old-fashioned Indian British restaurants, into modern ones serving traditional Indian food. With that in mind we recently found ourselves at Flora Indica in Earl’s Court. A new Modern Indian restaurant specialising in small plates.

We're constantly being told that 2017 is the Year of the Taco, and while I'm obviously delighted with this development, especially if it means more places like Breddos opening, it seems to me that a bigger story is what's happening to Indian food in the capital. It may not be just coincidence that January has already seen me post on two separate and equally exciting (in their own way) Indian restaurants; first the high-end Jamavar with its elegant and sophisticated take on the classics, then Kricket with its innovative English-Indian small plates concept.

When I first moved to West Brompton, the current site of Flora Indica was a Chinese restaurant.  It was a little tired even then, though I remember being fascinated by the full wall aquarium in the basement dining room.  The transformation has been extensive and the result is stunning.  Flora Indica is now a fabulous tribute to the Scottish Botanists such as William Roxburgh, who, during the reign of Queen Victoria,  travelled throughout India cataloguing the exotic plants they found and publishing Flora Indica in 1855.

Living around the corner; it’s been years I’ve been eying this restaurant and finally got around going there. Food was delicious; everything we tasted was full of flavours. We took one snack, one starter, two mains and three sides. It was a lot of food but portions were huge either so we managed to finish. The broccoli side was particularly special I thought and the naan melted in my mouth. We paid 88£ for two without drinks and with service charge. Staff and service was good; our waitress gave us good tips on the menu and helped us order as there was a lot of items to choose from on the menu. Atmosphere was buzzing also; the restaurant is very cosy and full of cool decorations. The tables and seating is very comfortable and luxurious. I would definitely recommend and comeback; thought it was good value.

It is hard to imagine a better experience than we had this evening. The service was friendly, attentive, and expedient. The food was the most tasty fine Indian cuisine I’ve ever had. If you are in South Kensington (or anywhere nearby), treat yourself and your taste buds.

Hiya folks! It’s your silly American here! I just have to say this spot was INCREDIBLE. It was probably our favorite place we dined at. Not only was every bite a delight, the service was lovely. Our waiter was friendly and visited us a couple of times to check in. In Europe in general, wait staff takes their time so don’t go in expecting American service and don’t be a jerk. A woman next to us was extremely rude and didn’t want to pay her service fee. Read up on some European etiquette, chill out, and enjoy your food! The atmosphere is chic and gorgeous. It can be a pretty romantic spot so take your honey and enjoy.

The restaurant has existed for many years and was recommended to us. The tip was worth its weight in gold! Flora Indica doesn't have the "classic" indian dishes in the form of various sauces with different proteins, here there are delicious fusions from the subcontinent in a modern london style. Vegetarians will also find what they are looking for on the menu. We were surprised that even the platano chips were freshly fried - delicious! Drinks menu is very extensive, prices are reasonable (beer and wine normal; cocktails, mocktails and spirits very expensive). The Flora Indica brews its own beer in cooperation with the Portobello Brewery - highly recommended! Compared to other indian restaurants in continental europe, this is the best I have eaten in. Definitely call and reserve a table!

Wonderful tasting food and excellent service. We had all vegetarian options. The Kurmure Okra fries were perfectly spiced and would highly recommend. The Papdi Chaat was terrific I really liked the addition of crispy artichoke. The only reason why this is not 5 star is the paneer starter and the paneer main although currently described differently are identical, same sauce, same paneer texture and cooked in the same way, just presented differently. For the main you get 2 pieces of paneer and for the starter you only get 1. As we were sharing we got both paneer dishes and it was really disappointing that this was near identical. For sides the poppy seed and red Leicester cheese naan is a must try, it worked really well with the black lentil and kidney bean makhani. We had mocktails which were a good portion, tasted lovely and refreshing. I recommend and would go.

Shout out from Seattle, WA! My husband and I were in London 25 years ago and had some amazing Indian food. We brought 2 of our 3 kids this time and were in search of a similar experience. We tried one restaurant in downtown London and left feeling a little let down. We found Flora Indica on our last day and it was completely perfect. We loved the feel, the service was great, and the food was just what we were hoping for. I'm a fan of the small plates because you get to experience more flavor! My daughter, 23, was in heaven. This is the first review I've ever written. It was the perfect end to an amazing trip, so thank you!!

She’s done it again - she’s taken down 2 full Indians in one meal 🇮🇳 - she ate 2 curries 🍛 , 2 naan bread 🫓 , 2 large portions of rice 🍚& 3 starters🥟🥟🥟 I wish I got a chance to try some of the food as it looked delicious but she recommended the beef rib starter & lamb rogan Josh
