We popped to this restaurant by chance exploring Turkish places. The food was amazing we have taken some pictures for you to see. Mussels fresh everything pretty much made from scratch. We have also had an impeccable service from Ferdi who was very helpful, friendly and polite. We shall be back again. Thank you for a great experience!

I recently dined at Salela a Turkish restaurant, and I must say that the food was absolutely amazing. The flavors were rich and authentic, truly capturing the essence of Turkish cuisine. One highlight was their sharing platter, which was incredibly generous in portion size and allowed us to try a variety of delicious dishes. The grilled options were a standout, with perfectly cooked meats that were tender and flavorful. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience at Salela, friendly staffs too.and I recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of Turkish cuisine.

My partner took me here last Friday for my birthday and it was amazing. We got the closing times wrong, yet they let us in last minute and were extremely accommodating. The food, the customer service, and the atmosphere were great. Definitely will be going back.

Foods were so delicious but our waiter Ahmet is the best!! He was so kind, greeted us pleasantly and service was pretty quick. We actually felt like home there, and it is the best Turkish food that I ever had in town, highly recommended!!

The food was so good and delicious and the service was top. we were serviced by Hulya who was friendly and helpful. today was my daughter's birthday, we told Hulya and she surprised my daughter with a cake and song. it was good experience. I can recommend that restaurant.

My overall experience is nice, the staff were friendly. The breakfast was tasty, but we were with the group, so as expected because of the crowd, we didn’t receive some items on time or never. But, we would like to try one more time to see and taste better.
Good location and clean restrooms.

Absolutely recommended restaurant. We order breakfast and it was amazing. Really tasty and quality Turkish food. I would like to thanks especially to Ahmet, he made sure everything was perfect for us. We will come back, for sure!

For last 20 years I've been regular guest in Selale. Very friendly owners and staff and best Lamb & Aubergine (Ali Nazik) in whole Haringey.
Luka Vardiashvili
The food was most excellent! The wine service was extremely wonderful… there was a sense of flowing energy with food and an expression gentleness from Deniz.
He served us with deep empathetic kindness, helping to make the birthday of a dear friend, special, gentle and kind for a wholesome, organic and humanist evening with old friends.
Though there was a slight perpetual moment of the revealing of red petals within its poetic phrase this; conviction was met with humour and ultimately strong and expressive service, helping the three of us to travel and sit and listen to each other, with just enough of a touch of guitar music softly lilting in the background.

I got food poisoning from this place and stuff treated me badly as if I'm a tramp or begger or something and the meat quality is no good of their doner, just avoid this joint as there are much better ones on the same road.

Always crowded. my favorite is lahmacun. I tried sish but it was very sour. Service is very good and the dessert that comes with the check is great!
Nico
U always know you're going the enjoy a kebab, but Selale is like no other ✊🏽. Priced a little bit more than ur average local, however without the grease and oil. You can taste the difference here and this is what sets it apart from others💁🏽♂️. Overall food 4.5/5. However location wise isn't really the best.
Ali
I didn't get how this restaurant has got this score. We ordered Adana, Hummus, and lahmacun. Honestly, i didn't like them at all. Price is not cheap but reasonable. And the reason why I gave it 2.0 is that the service is good.
MercedesMac
Lovely place situated right on Green Lanes. Would highly recommend the House Special for larger groups as we ordered one and it was more than enough for our whole group. 5 Meze starters came it with it as well which was a great start to the meal. Great desserts and even a complimentary Tiramusi for the table! The Staff waiting our table were great. Would go again
Arwa
Love the fact that they served fries on the side!! Most Turkish restaurants don't offer that~
I really like the vibes within the restaurant and service. Attentive and fast service.
The food is filing and veryyy tasty! Definitely worth the price and more.
Arif Nathoo
Visited Selale on a busy Saturday night, even then, the service was absolutely superb. The attention by staff, the speed of service, and quality of food was great.

We had a hot mezze for starters, and a house special for main - side of fries and sausages - can't knock the taste at all, really good stuff.

4 of us couldn't finish what we were served, so very generous portions.

Why not 5.0 for my rating????? Too much of a canteen feel, I prefer a better ambience.
Dan Torrance
Great value, the Selale specials really fill everyone up, plus the mezze and salads you get as freebies including the turkish tea and flatbreads are a nice touch. Great service too. We have several sets of guests who when asked if they'd want to eat out in the area choose Selale as their default choice.

Some good house red choices too.
Skye Lloyd
This place is really close to where I live and serves some nice food. The food is freshly prepared, and while you wait, you can have some yummy bread. The ambiance here is nice, and so is the service. The staff is quite polite and welcoming too.
Ananya Atwal
This place was very wonderful in my opinion, in fact this is quite a place to check out! The ambiance here is delightful and the staff very attentive and efficient. The major attraction to this place would definitely have to be the awesome prices which are very appropriate and pocket friendly too.
The food too is yummy, The quality was super refreshing and heavenly. I recommend trying the flavorsome and value for money meze starter ,kebabs and turkish tea , all of which were delightful and came in substantial portions.
The staff won us over with their complimentary semolina cake which fulfilled a sweet lover's fantasy.
Loved it, do visit.
Owen Cross
I had a wonderful culinary experience at this place. The place is usually bustling with locals which is a good signs and the true barometer of a good place. The food here is absolutely delectable and very delightful. All the dishes we ordered were very well-prepared and mouth-watering good. The food is also reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place.
Annabelle Wall
To stand out in a location which is flooded with a score of Turkish restaurants, is a pretty amazing feat.
I am absolutely in love with the place and can hardly find any fault.
The interiors are in tune with the Turkish feel and the little details of 'eye' like traditional items. The value for money is also pretty amazing with the heavenly food on offer which are high in flavor and are innovative too.The portion size is more than substantial and i have never left the place hungry.
The free pitta with hummus served before the food is serve is an awesome touch! Definitely pay a visit.
Callum Johnston
We visited this area to visit a well-known place, but it had a really large queue, and put off by that, we decided to visit this place. I came here after reading the review of a well-known critic online, and I am glad I did. The setting is not the most stunning, however, the place is very nice and roomy. But whatever they lacked in setting, they compensated for in the food and service. Immediately upon settling down, I was greeted by a waiter who took my order. I asked for his recommendation, baffled by the wide array of choices, and he pointed me towards the lamb shish bar. The main course was served with a salad with pomegranate dressing. Also came on the side some hummus, tatsiki and pita bread. We were also given tea at the end. I was impressed by the personal service.
Ruby Bryant
After reading a lot of good reviews about this place, I decided to visit this place with some friends a couple of weeks back. We ordered the Hot mix meze for starters and Hummus and the salad for the main course. The Hummus was absolutely delicious and the salad was great too. The place is clean and the environment is pretty lively.
I would suggest everyone to visit this place and you'll have a great time.
Alice Turner
The best thing about this place is that you will get free Turkish tea and dessert when you finish your food , isn't that great?
This place is very good for groups and you can bring your free wine too so you really need not to worry about paying load of money for wine.
The food is also good and fresh.

This place is a typical Turkish fare but it is way better here than any other day place on the lane. The staff is friendly but they are slow if the place is packed. The meat is grilled just right ,salad portions are huge ,the freshly baked breads never stop. The place is pleasant with its clean decor. I love all the flowers in the outdoor seating. When it's nice outside and the windows are wide open its a delightful place for eating with friends and large groups. The prices are very affordable considering the amount of food on the platters. They also have beer and wine, and are open quite late into the night on weekends.
Harvey Law
This place tops all my other experiences with Turkish cuisines. Highly recommend the Tapas and the Special Kebabs. The sauces are rich and tangy, and I loved everything, including the Chicken salad, which I usually don't care much for.
Corey Hayward
I visited this place last night and was delighted by my experience. The staff was attentive and quick. Our drinks were brought to us in almost no time, and were accompanied with bread, salad and a serving of delicious chips. We tried a restaurant special, and it arrived to our table piled high with chicken and lamb. It was sumptuous, perfectly cooked and accompanied by more bread, rice and bulgur. The food was so generous in quantity that we had to pack some of it to take away. We finished our lovely meal with yummy desserts and Turkish tea. A beautiful food experience, to say the least.
Sonny Harper
The place offers authentic Turkish food and is one of the best places in town for Turkish food. This place was recommended by a friend and after the first visit I have become a fan of this place as well as the cuisine. The staff as well as the owner are quite hospitable.
Akshay Gaba
This place serves really delicious Turkish food. I had kebabs and also tried a variety of dishes. The entire meal was quite authentic and had all the flavours evenly spread out and the meal was a delicious one. The staff was also very polite and the service was top notch.
Blake Henry
This restaurant is one the top my list of places to recommend, in fact i am a regular here and would call myself a loyal one at that!
This is your perfect location to have all the different kind of meals, whether for business or for intimate private ones. The service here is absolutely attentive and efficient and the food incredibly awesome.Clearly a fan of the Turkish cuisine, i love the place and think that they are the best.
The value for money too is pretty high.I believe one will have a life changing experience here after trying their hummus and desserts and teas and the grills of course.

An underrated place, for the best service and kebabs in town do drop in!
Ryan Willis
I've been to the strip Green Lanes for decades and have seen the strip change a lot. Now seeing more of upmarket middle class, well thought out joints, big restaurants and great atmosphere. This place is consistent, wonderful every time, with nice semi outdoor eating areas and the staff is so attentive and welcoming. I'd highly recommend this place.
Frederick Nicholson
I, along with my family, went to this place and had an amazing meal over there. The staff was polite and the service was unbelievably quick. We all had char grilled meat and salad both of which were very well-prepared and presented. The food was mouth-watering and we all had a very good time there.
Molly Lee
This place is usually very busy, so it took me time to be able to visit. But I am glad I was able to try it out. As appetizers, we tried the meat meze- it tasted wonderful and was perfect for two people. My main entree was the lamb ribs which were juicy and tasted perfect. The food was also priced well. If I had to make but one small criticism, it would be that the place felt slightly overstaffed- so much that a lot of the waiters were standing idly. However, I was satisfied by my experience and will definitely repeat a visit.
Freddie Grant
The staff was very welcoming and gave us an option to let us chose the tables where we want to be seated. They serves some beautiful and appetizing Turkish dishes and portions as well are quite generous. We went for their house special that is enough for five people. As soon as you are seated, they give you a basket of complimentary breads and also free tea and a dessert once you are finished with your meal.
Joseph Osborne
I have been visiting this restaurant for several years and would like to mention that the décor has improved a lot. This place also offers ample seating space and you will easily get a table if you are planning to visit this one. The staff has always been amiable and the service is also a pretty standard one. I must commend the chefs for the kind of authenticity that they maintain. The portions are quite generous and they also offer some freebies. However, there are few dishes which are quite expensive. Nevertheless, the food is great and you will definitely get the value for your money.
Lucas Dawson
Yet again, I have another fantastic meal at this place. It is always advisable to book a table earlier due to its high popularity, especially on a Saturday night. The staff is so organised and seems to be a part of very well choreographed ballet. As soon as we placed our order, we received complimentary bread, salad and dips. We ordered the Selale special which was supposed to be enough for 4 people but was enough for 6. As soon as we made it clear that we were stuffed, the table was cleared and boiling hot Turkish tea with sweets was served, which was again, complimentary. We came out after a very pleasant time and made plans for our next visit. I highly recommend this place. It's the best Turkish food I've ever had.
Harrison O'sullivan
I had an excellent meal here. To make it better was the amazing price I paid for all of it. It was so reasonable, for all that I ate. I got a huge basket of pitta bread, which was my favorite. The rest of the dishes to go with it were as good. I sampled a Turkish tea to wash down all that I ate.
Phoebe Cartwright
The place has been renovated for larger space and gladly nothing else has changed. the food is as delicious and delectable as ever. In Fact, on this visit the taste seemed to have enhanced. not a place for a romantic date but if you are looking for a decent place serving satiating food, do visit!
Ashton Carroll
I had a revolting time here. It was so disappointing! I had to wait almost an hour, until the waiter decided to show up and say they had made a mistake with my order.
To top it all when the food came, it was terribly average and so very overpriced! The service was no better and was horrible to say the least.
Isabelle Green
I don't understand the reason to some of the reviewers comments as a 'horrible experience'. Believe me people, I have bee visiting this restaurant for years now and I have always found their staff amiable. The service has always been spot on and the prices charged are in a fairly competitive range. The quality of food has always been impeccable and I must recommend you all to try the place on your own if you want to have a better hang of it.
Gerard
One of my favourite Turkish Restaurants in Green Lanes and there are loads of good ones to choose from. Always busy, but great service. Kebabs are as good as it gets, salads, breads and dips that come with them are great. Fantastic floral display outside seems to sum this place up - they take pride.
Amit Purgass
Friendly and welcoming staff. Food is really good too.

We had just flown in to London and really didn't know where we wanted to go. We googled this spot and walked there since it was only down the street. As soon as we walked in, everyone was very welcoming. Very lovely spot! The service was on point. The food was amazing, we had the mixed Doner and stuffed mushrooms. It really made me feel like I was in Turkey. Everyone was super professional. So far I haven't been a big fan of this city, but this place really changed my attitude.
Highly recommend this place. It's literally the closest you'll get to authentic Turkish food, while in a foreign country
lori g.
Not only a fantastic menu but authentic in every dish! Had a fantastic dinner w four courses n a little wine for two. 60 pounds! A real bargain for a great meal. Service is excellent and very attentive, our waiter Romi treated us like family! What a incredible asset to the restaurant. All staff are accommodating kudos to the owners for great staff, great service and great food,
Al O.
The portion sizes here are like something off Man vs Food. Ridiculous for the amount you pay.

To be honest, I had come to Harringey Green Lanes because I wanted to try out the food at Gökyüzü, but when the line at this place was out the door, I consulted the Yelp App and it pointed me in the direction of Selale. I have to say, it was the review of Yinnie C. that made me come here; I trust her opinion and if she says that eating at Selale has made her rethink the idea of a kebab, then I should come here as well.
And indeed, my dining experience at Selale was great. The place itself is not very special: it's pretty much a big room with loads of tables and mostly unoriginal design. In fact, I actually thought they were trying to hard...but what it was lacking in terms of design features, Selale made up in terms of food and service.
I sat down and soon a waiter came by and asked me for my order. I easily get overwhelmed by the sheer choice of different items at Turkish restaurants and so I simply asked the waiter what he would recommend. In a very friendly manner, he then placed a hand on my shoulder and pointed me to the lamb shish. I asked him if I should go for the mixed shish (chicken and lamb), but he nudged me into ordering the pure lamb shish...and, boy, am I glad I did. It was delicious!
Here at Selale, every main course comes with a mixed salad, topped of with a delicious pomegranate dressing. Also, they serve humus and tzatsiki (cacık) alongside oven fresh pita bread. At the end of the meal, they also offer you a free glas of tea (çay).
When I was about to get up the waiter shook my hand and I left happy as a puppy...that's what I call a great experience!
Joice T.
Great Turkish restaurant that is always busy no matter what time of the day you go.. Food cooked fresh and guess what I don't even watch lamb... The chicken wings are my favourite and I do love the fresh bread and free salad with your main.. Harvester eat your heart out!!
To be honest, I've not had a bad Turkish meal down green lanes so don't worry if you can't easily there are more choices...
The one annoying thing is parking.. However if you are going for dinner then get there early to grab a spot and a table. .
My brother loves their lamb soup.. And the accompanying sides really looks and taste delicious (according to my brother of course)
All in all a great place for a well cooked meal.. Bring friends so you can get the platter is much better value..

One of them many turkish restaurants on Green Lanes. Service is good, there is a host to open the door for people. Food is generously portioned as usual in turkish eateries. It was the first time I drank "sex on the beach" so I presume that's how it should taste The food on the plate was about £11-£12 and as hungry I was I couldn't eat it all. The humus and the garlic sauce were oily so I had to ask to be changed-first time I ever received them floating in oil. Now I don't think the banoffee "cake" they have should be served as an iced concrete block (I had to wait about 5 mins to be able to eat it). Also for £4 I find it expensive and small. The ambient is pleasant, nice interior and good atmosphere.
Andrea F.
Don't be fooled by the freebies. Despite the opulent decor, I wasn't as impressed by this place as I'd hoped. The staff were nice enough, when we could flag them down, but service was pretty damn slow.
I'm a huge fan of Turkish and Greek food, having lived there for years. So I've got to be honest here:
The cold mezze was great in parts, ie the thick creamy tzatziki, but the hummus was gritty, the taramasalata was full of food colouring, and my usual favourite - baba ghanoush - was just terrible.
Most of the salad ingredients were not fresh, including over ripe olives and dried up cucumber, but at least the Greek salad didn't contain lettuce (my pet hate.)
The spinach filo parcels too were weirdly soggy, and a bit too salty.
Shame to see such a poor effort from such a promising place.
Grace K.
Based on the reviews, decided to check this place out. SO GOOD! I've been going to a bunch of Turkish restaurants around NorthEast London and so far, this place tops them. Every time it gets better and better so throughout the reviews, I think I've said they've all been my favorite. Each spot has it's different highlights.
First off, the complementary salad. It wasn't ice burg lettuce with some veggies...it was mixed greens, nice dressing and it was big. Super tasty. Also got a yogurt and tomatoey dip. Wasn't a fan of the yogurt one (just not my cuppa tea), but the tomato based one was great. So, you get complementary salad, dips, and bread....what's not to like so far?
Ordered:
Lahmacun pide (£2.90)- Bread was perfectly thin and tasty toppings.
Aubergine dip (£4.25) and Kisir dip (£4.25)- Made traditionally so no surprises. Delic.
Mixed Shish (£10.90)- Lamb was juicy and not too gamey tasting and chicken was moist and good.
Tavuklu Pide (£8.50)- Bread/crust was a bit thicker than expected. Tasty, but I recommend ordering a meat plate for your main than a pide. It's good...but the meats are really good.
After we finished we got complementary tea and dessert. The tea was good and the dessert...it was like a sweet tapioca ball. It wasn't too sweet and it was the perfect finish to the meal.
The only thing is is that there's a £5 corkage fee. But after all the nice and complementary eats you get, doesn't matter. Worth it.
Staff are nice and the space is nice and big. Will def be back again.
Paul S.
Ok so this place gets packed and when I mean packed I mean PACKED. You do really need to
Pre book a table or you will end up waiting for an age. Ok so the food. It was nice. The calamari was extremely fresh and tasty and the food is brought out extremely quick so once you have placed your
Order you won't be waiting long at all. Will I be coming back you ask. ? Well I don't know. Although the food was nice It never pull up trees, I have had better. All in all good food Extremely quick service for the amount of people in the restaurant. That's about all I can.
Musca D.
Great restaurant, fantastic Turkish food and impeccable service. The four of us took the "Special of the house 2" and couldn't have more than half of it!
Definitely recommended!
Andrew Q.
It may be typical Turkish fare... But why is it better here than any other day place on Green Lane? The staff I'd friendly but they do get slow if the place is packed... Which it is often. The meats are grilled just right. Salad portions are huge. I mean HUGE. The freshly baked breads never stop. Just ask. Really its all there for the asking. Then there is the feel of the place with its clean decor. Almost modern. I love all the flowers in the semi enclosed outdoor seating. When it's nice outside and the windows are wide open its a delightful setting for eating with friends and large groups.
The prices are exceptional considering how much food lies on the platters. The best deals are the manager group meals. Two people. Six people. Awesome. Rice, all the difference meats, I've never walked away from here thinking I am still hungry.
They have beer and wine and are open quite late on weekends. Go, no disappointments.
David I.
This is one of a large number of Turkish/Kurdish restaurants in Harringay and my wife and I have eaten here a number of times. It's never been our first choice, but we seem to have bad luck with the restaurants we like on Green Lanes closing down, so we have been here several times as a second choice. On the plus side, the food is very good, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The problem I have with the restaurant is that it's noisy. I don't find it a relaxing place to eat because it is usually packed out with diners, especially at weekends, and the barn-like interior with bare walls seems to make the noise of people chattering (and shouting, in some cases) bounce around. The overall noise level I find to be way too much and, as I say, the end result is that I don't find it relaxing to be in there.
Rich R.
I read the reviews, so made the trek to come here for dinner, it was well worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, we got the hot mix meze as a starter and there was nothing left when we were done. We did the lamb shish with yogurt and the bream fish. The hummus is supurb and the salad that comes with dinner is great.
I don't know what to write that will convince you to try this place but imagine you just read it, Go try this place you will not be disappointed.
We will be coming back when friends and family visit. The atmosphere is lively and the place is clean.
Kai B.
It was our first time at the restaurant, and we're happy to say that we'll be back for me. Very reasonably priced, authentic Turkish food. We had the chicken shish and the lamb kebab, both were excellent and came with a salad, rice, flatbread and various dips on the side. The meat was tender, juicy and full of flavour.
The service was very attentive and welcoming. Were greeted with a handshake when first entering, and even give a Turkish tea and a dessert on the house! Total price was around seventeen pounds, very much worth it considering that we were very happy and very full after our meal.
Hannah P.
Selale is a much raved about favourite of many Harringay resident's. There is always much debate over which Turkish restaurant is the best on Green Lanes. As far as I'm concerned this wins. Not just because the food is consistently good, well priced and traditional. Really what wins me over is the friendliness of the staff and the fact they have the 'outdoor' seating area which is a lifesaver in the Summer and great for people watching. My menu favourites? Lentil soup, feta salad and one of their daily stews followed up by nuclear Turkish coffee and one of their milk puddings. The ultimate comfort food.
Faruk G.
As a Turkish person living in US, this was what I have been craving for! Even better than restaurants in turkey.
Shaun D.
One of the many establishments on Green Lanes offering extremely good chargrilled kebabs. We came in for a takeaway but they still looked after us as if we were customers who would sit in. We were offered complimentary tea while our dishes were freshly cooked. The food was so tasty and the meat was perfectly cooked, still juicy and seasoned really well. Always get the lahmacun as a side or even as a snack if you don't want anything big! They even threw in more complimentary desserts into our bag as we left. You can't go wrong. (Takeaway - 21/01/2015)
Sophie B.
Great food, great value. My friend and I shared a lahmacun, a pide and a kofte and between that and the delicious complimentary bread / salad / zaziki were very full. The meat was very well prepared, well spiced, the portions were generous. I found the lahmacun (thin topped flatbread) more exciting than the pide (thick topped flatbread), but maybe that's just personal preference. Total bill for the meal for 2 including a few glasses of tea was £24. Great value. The atmosphere is a bit neon-y, two tables of Turkish children's birthday parties when we were there. Everyone was super friendly though, and our waitress was very attentive.
I haven't tried any of the other places on Green Lanes (will try to do that soon) but I've had a fair bit of Turkish food over the years in Austria / Germany and Turkey, so I feel confident to say that this is the real deal. I'll be back to try one of those big plates of grilled meat that everyone seemed to be eating.
Darryl I.
Believe the reviews - seriously a 5 star local casual spot. My favourite part is you get loads of free sides before you order (salad, hummus) and after you finish your food you get a free Turkish tea and Turkish dessert! Prices are cheap and definitely worth it. If you're from Central London, it's quite a trek up to Harringay, however, it's worth it. Great for groups. They even allow you to bring your own wine, however, they charge a £5 corkage fee. And whilst you're up there check out the Turkish markets and dessert shops near by - lots of good deals and different foods to be found (and eaten!)
Jessica G.
Make sure you arrive here starving! The meals are massive and amazing. You will be greeted with complimentary bread, starters etc. The service is attentive and the setting is relaxed. Loved it. Will be back.
