A special birthday dinner. Really divine food - oh lord, that burrata! - and brilliant service from our waiter. The restaurant was busy and buzzing but still managed to feel intimate and personal. It was wonderful to meet James too: it's a genuinely legendary family restaurant. We are very lucky to live nearby and we'll be back!

This fantastic place gets booked out for dinner every day! Fantastic dishes and service staff.
We left to the waiter to decide the dishes for us and he delivered the best in the house. I particularly love the squid ink pasta and the bolognese, very well made sauces paired with al dente pasta. The beef steak (can’t remember what it’s called) is so tender and addictive.
They also have homemade ice cream and I tried pistachio, which I thought it was superb. All round an excellent meal!

Real treat to eat lunch here!
The food was all very well prepared, fresh & extremely tasty. Good choice, as well as, additional.options for veggies like me.
The staff were lovely, kind and very efficient.
I enjoyed the whole feel of Il Portico, the style, atmosphere and experience.
Whilst I was being treated to lunch, so not paying, I thought cost of the meal was very good too - great value for a delicious treat.

Great ambience, friendly and attentive service, gorgeous food, 100% recommended. The pasta with ragu was amazing, in fact everything we had was delicious. James and the team really looked after us. We will be back.

The experience was incredible. I messed up the reservation time and they still seated us. The food was delicious and the wine recommendation was fantastic. The tiramisu was one of the best I have ever had.

Phenomenal dinner, service, just perfect. A special place for a special evening. The wine by the glads is a FULL glass. Cannot say enough good compliments about quality and taste of the food, the exceptional wines, and the absolute best service. Will come back to London to eat hete!

A very authentic Italian restaurant right by Holland park. The squid was delicious as was the tagliatelle wild venison & pork belly ragu, excellent staff. Reasonably priced for this area, a very good experience. Will definitely visit again.

I will give this place 7 stars if I can. The lamb, vongole, chicken and tiramisu were superb. The restaurant has a very cosy ambience, and the staff are as amazing as the food. Thank you James, Costas, and Dave for the memorable birthday lunch!

Having stuffed myself with pasta for a year living in Rome, I am a tough critic when it comes to Italian food. In Il Portico I can just about imagine I am back in Italy. The family-run restaurant is pretty authentic and the service is good. <br/><br/>The food is decent especially if you stick to the more simple dishes, but you won't necessarily be writing home to Nonna about it.

My favourite Italian restaurant :-)). This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. It feels so comfortable and homely. James and Francesca treat you like friends and remember what you like to eat. In short, great quality and service are taken in to account here. I would definitely come back.

Perfect place for an evening out. If you are interested in impeccable service, wonderful food, a warm atmosphere and a lovely evening, this is the place. The family will welcome you as one of their own and you will be well taken care of. The food is delicious and they will accommodate the most finicky children' s palates with grace (and speed) so the adults can enjoy themselves as well. Il Portico will never disappoint!
