Decent coffee, not the best and a bit inconsistent, never bad. Food is a bit expensive but is nice. Staff are great and the interior is nice enough. Great garden out the back when the weather is nice

The food is simply superb, the pulled pork thingy is fantastic. Good coffee as well as you would expect from a kiwi place, friendly service, sometimes a bit too relaxed. Will be back -again.

Great coffee, good food & friendly staff. Their garden in the back is great on summer days. Family, kid & pet-friendly. Wheelchair accessible, as well.

We love this place, we come every day for years for the coffee and sometimes sit for food. We are so impressed with quality we always take friends and family when we can.

Loved this place, nice vibe, nice art, friendly staff. Food was really good as you can see. Wasn’t too busy either as there’s more seating than it appears from outside. Outside area looks nice if wasn’t so cold today! Pictures that show: creamy pesto mushrooms for (11.50 with egg) and a Benedict with spinach and bacon for £13)

This is truly a hidden gem! The place is small and unassuming from the front but wow! The food is outstanding, fresh, delightful! I really can't say enough good things about every item we ordered. Even the simplest dish - fried eggs on seven seed toast - was exquisite! If I lived closer, I'd be back weekly!

I've tried it and it's true! Tried and True is a great place. I called to reserve a table for 4 with my 84 year old dad. The guy who answered was super pleasant. No, they don't take reservations on a Sunday for brunch but the wait is rarely longer than 10 minutes. He left me feeling super positive about my visit. When we arrived we were looked after quickly and the very same person I spoke to pointed us to a table that would be free in 5 minutes or so. Very pleasant waiters came to take a drinks order promptly then followed up with food orders later. The pace and attentiveness of the service was just right. They were on it but not too fast. We went for their award-winning pulled pork and corn bread thingie, a vegetable pesto dish and scrambled eggs on toast. All were great dishes. If you're particular about your scrambled eggs tell them and they'll make them runny, dry or in-between. Tried and True is a great place. It feels cosy and local. The coffees and food were great and the service was spot on. They're a lovely bunch of people and look forward to coming back soon.

Went for brunch, it was fantastic. Great menu with a good selection of dishes, served all day which is a big plus for those of us who like a little lie in at the weekends. The pulled pork Benedict was really tasty. Will definitely.l be back to try more !

A lively cafe with good coffee and food We were here on a Saturday morning (maybe closer to midday but it's Saturday so who's counting) and the place was very busy with most tables taken. Despite the busyness we were seated quickly (as were most other groups that came in while we were there) and the friendly staff took our orders without any wait. The coffee was our first and was strong and good. I ordered pancakes (as I had heard they were good) and I wasn't disappointed, they were light and fluffy and very filling. My girlfriend had one of the many scrambled eggs options and enjoyed them too. The menu had lots of options for all day brunch so there should be something for anyone. Prices were reasonable for the quality.
