As I took a bite, I felt my eyes moisten and I felt as though I'd been transported to grandma's house. Everything was absolutely perfect 🙇🏽♀️
Roll up your sleeves & tuck into some flavor busting. The injera and the honey wine was succulent and decadent. My first time trying Ethiopian food and we were all replenished by the food offered. Ultimately an Ethiopian laddle of love, with the power to make you lust after injera and great options for vegetarians..
Be prepared to wait as the food home cooked by the owner.
Incredible food and friendly owners. Value for money. Highly recommend!
Ignore the location, go for the food. I'm from Sydney where there's not an Ethiopian restaurant in sight, so was happy to find a few in London! The location of the place is not the greatest (ground floor of a council block), but it was easy enough to get to using Google Maps.
Dining alone, I opted for the mixed vegetarian dish as it allowed me to sample a few different things, for about £6 - it was delicious., especially after eating so much terrible processed supermarket rubbish, the home-cooked vegetables almost felt like a "detox", but with flavour.
The staff were very friendly and will always make recommendations if you're stuck with what to order. I'll be back to try the beef tartare!
Very friendly, a true understanding of hospitality. Food: flavoursome, decievingly simple, but truly declious! Lentil soup highly reccomended!
Wonderful food and a very hospitable host. Auntie will treat you like family and this is some of the best Eritrean/Ethiopian food I've had.
Amazing food very friendly cafe/restaurant for pre games at Arsenal - Best African food in North London I've had, great value.. We go there often as it's our local. We go there for the amazing food as much as the friendly atmosphere created by the owner. She is one of the most bubbly friendly waiter/cook restaurateur we came across. The interior is humble but nice with some Ethiopian artwork hanging on the walls, with candles on the tables. Saying that this is more of a cross between a cafe and a restaurant rather than a romantic place. If you've seen the movie Broken Flowers and like Ethiopics - Ethiopian jazz - you'll like the music here. And yes it's close to the Arsenal Stadium making it convenient but not overcrowded place to grab something different and really tasty to eat for next to nothing - around £11-£15 pp incl. a bottle of St George - Ethiopian beer. If you've not tried this sort of food before I recommend the lamb in rosemary sause on injara - traditional bread.
East African hospitality. For anyone out there who has not tried Ethiopian cuisine I highly recommen losing your culinary virginty here. It is a bit out of the way though not dificult to get to at all.
The owner is the sweetest lady you will ever meet and ever thing is fresh as its all made right there and then. The decor is not much to be desired but you do not go out to eat lght bulkbs and decirations do you? Great food each and everytime. I have exhausted this menu several times over and still cannot tire of it. This unassuming lady and her restaurant WILL provide you with the best Ethiopian food north of the river
Strongly recommend the Ethiopian coffee
If you feel like having authentic Ethiopian food, this place is for you. Run by an Ethiopian lady and her daughter, serves you real, traditional food, and even teaches you how to eat it. With your fingers! Although, if you're not happy with that, you can always get a fork and eat it more "British" way.
The choice of dishes is huge, and some of them are combinations of smaller portions of other dishes, so in a way you can sample three or more as one "dish". Served with a traditional bread - called injeri - fills you up very quickly. Vegetarian dishes are clearly marked, as are mild/spicy ones. The majority of dishes are spicy.
The owner can answer all your questions about the food, or culture, or what not :)
If you're going with a bigger group, it's best to phone earlier and book a table, because the place isn't that big. Also, if a group is bigger the owner must buy more food, so that's another point to notify her earlier.
It's a bit away from central London, but well worth the trip! The decor is pleasant, and creates a bit ethnic atmosphere.
