The food was very good. We had a good variety of dishes around our table, and everyone was happy with their choices. The servers were attentive and were frequently buzzing around the table, refilling drinks and clearly plates. This was actually quite impressive considering how extremely busy it was this evening. The only thing to consider is that the wide open dining room gets very loud with all of the competing conversations happening. So, at times, it was difficult to hold a conversation within each other

Great restaurant with amazing ambiance! The food was very delicious but definitely on the pricier side. The portions were surprisingly filling and we recommend sharing the sides cause they’re actually quite big for one person to finish. The staff was attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner!

On arrival this looks fairly small, but that is ground floor reception, down the stairs to a significantly larger space spanning several ground floor front doors. Great menu, dominated by steak, no surprise there. We were there on a deal, two courses. A great tomato and cheese salad starter. Both went for the steak mains, medium rare - fantastic The some brilliant deserts . Only drawback is as the vast space filled up the noise level got too high!

UPDATE: I was invited to try the steak and it was overall a much better experience this time around, largely due to how they cooked the steak. The flavour from the meat was better - because the steak was less well-done. Onions rings are a must have, sweet and crunchy - They're the real star of the sides. I liked the house made tomato sauce a well. I know other reviewers have recommended the sauces but I didn't really think that the steak needed it. Even so, I'd recommending ordering a half-step under what you want i.e. if you want medium, order medium rare. Old review -Disclaimer: I had the express menu, so it may not be reflective of the full Hawksmoor experience. Service is great, staff are really helpful and friendly without being overly pretentious. I enjoyed the starter which was a spring salad of radishes and herbs. The problem for me was that both steaks were poorly cooked - very dry around the outside edges. I ordered mine medium and felt that it was more medium well (definitely grey and well done about 1cm from edges). My partner's was similarly cooked. The beef was good quality though.

What amazing food! Atmosphere is really good - huge place but not loud inside even when full, fantastic service - happy to have us at the bar over 45 minutes early due to weather, everything very smooth and easy - fantastic steak. Many thanks.

I recently dined at this amazing steakhouse and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The food was impeccable, and I couldn't find a single fault. Every bite of the steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. The service was top-notch, adding to the overall delightful experience. I can't wait to go back!

Hawksmoor is a delightful spot, ranking high among London's steakhouses. The recommended menu items align with popular Google reviews, signaling their widespread appeal. While the Rosso Braida Hawksmoor was a delightful choice, the price at £62 per bottle may not suit all tastes. The variety and quality of steaks (T-Bone, Rib-eye and Fillet), and the Bone Marrow, stood out, though some may differ on their preferences. Accompaniments like the Macaroni and Creamed Spinach were equally impressive. The portion sizes for the Fries and Peppercorn Sauce might leave some wanting more for the price. The Sticky Toffee Pudding lived up to its reputation and was a standout dessert. I look forward to trying the Peanut Butter Shortbread (which was recommended) next time. The service was competent, though it lacked a personalised touch for the price point. I did appreciate the consistent water top-ups though. While bustling with after-work crowds, the ambiance hinted at a scene from The Wolf of Wall Street, perfect for a lively Thursday evening. For a more intimate experience, perhaps a weekend visit would be ideal.

Came here for my friends birthday and would say that it is really great quality of good. It is quite a pricey restaurant but that's expected for the food and service you receive. Generally expect the same quality across the chain as I've attended others and they've all been great as well.

Havent been for about 5 years but the food was as good as i remembered. Pictured is the scallops, fillet steak and lobster, sticky toffee pudding and a melon daiquiri. Not pictured was the beef dripping fries and bone marrow gravy - all delicious! Staff were very friendly and attentive as well.

We had a good time in Hawsmoor, excellent food and services. Daniel, who was the front of house, look after us thorough the whole evening. Hawsmoor's ambiance was inviting, and the steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavour. In summary, our experience at Hawsmoor, coupled with Daniel's attentive care, surpassed all expectations. It was undeniably one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. If you seek a top-notch steakhouse with divine food and impeccable service, Hawsmoor is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Nice steakhouse for any occasion. Delicious food and drinks. We celebrated my sister’s birthday and they gave her a free appetizer, so sweet. My sister had a steak and I had the Monkfish. We both had mash and gravy with spinach. Everything tasted soo good and hot; freshly made. My sister’s steak cut straight through almost gliding and it was so delicious she didn’t need any steak sauce. My monkfish reminded me of lobster, it had a similar taste. It was delicious, seasoned to perfection. The dining area is loud when it’s busy but we didn’t mind it at all. If you are looking for a quiet spot you may want to call ahead and specify a quiet spot but if the noise of talking doesn’t bother you book a reservation if you are in the area. The toilet Facilities were also very clean and well kept. Our waitress did a awesome job checking on us and recommending dishes and drinks to us. Our whole experience was a 10 of 10. This is a great spot to visit.

We visited for Sunday lunch - it was my Birthday and each person who interacted with us wished me a Happy Birthday - so kind of them to do that. A gent then came over - management I believe, shook my hand wished me a Happy Birthday and offered me a cocktail on the house - a lovely gesture. We had roast beef with all the trimmings plus cauliflower cheese and stuffing as sides. The whole meal was perfect, the beef was lovely and pink, the gravy was incredible and that stuffing was the best I have ever tasted, I have no idea what’s in it but I want the recipe! The staff were so attentive, topping up our water & wine. The personal touch here is 1st class you just feel so comfortable and well looked after. Thanks to all the team at Hawksmoor we had a wonderful meal - hats off to the team. We will be back :)

So, we went out for a lovely Sunday lunch and decided to order the roast with a couple of sides and drinks. I must say, the roast was absolutely delicious, and it tasted even better with the mouth-watering gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was the perfect companion, soaking up all the delicious flavors of the gravy, and it was so tasty! The potatoes were another highlight of the meal, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The combination of the roast, the pudding, and the potatoes was simply divine, and we savored every bite. The staff at the restaurant were amazing - they were so welcoming and friendly. They also took great care to ensure that our dietary requirements were met, which was very much appreciated. The only downside to the meal was that it was a little on the pricier side, but we felt that it was worth it for the overall experience. All in all, it was a lovely lunch, and we left feeling happy and satisfied.

Was here on a work do and the place was filled with city peeps! Even it is was really late, the place was bustling! We had the steak, medium rare and a bunch of sides, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, spinach! To finish off me had the lemon sortbet, the panna cotta and the chocolate crunchy nut thing. The wine was lovely as well. It was all lovely and will come back

Visited for private dining with a set course. There were only 7 of us and we would have been better off in the main restaurant for atmosphere. It would have been better with 20+. Food was outstanding as expected from any Hawksmoor. Great cuts of meat cooked to perfection. All the staff were very attentive and helpful, no complaints at all.

I don't eat steak that much any more. I tend to prefer slowcooked cuts more. Part of me also thinks I can cook a decent steak at home just buy purchasing from an excellent quality source. My last steak meal was exceptional (. I've had two previous experiences at Hawksmoor, first for steak where none were cooked correctly (

I have been wanting to visit Hawksmoor for a while so when Book a Table offered a 2 course meal with a cocktail for £25, I could not resist! The set menu was:. We had the crab and toast, which was tasty. This was followed by the rib eye steak with triple cooked chips, spinach with lemon and garlic and Bearnaise and peppercorn sauce. Steaks were cooked well and the spinach was particularly nice....

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day; the meal which kickstarts your metabolism and gets you going to face the rest of the day. Old wives tales will tell you that you should be consuming about 20% of your daily calorie intake for breakfast. Well forgot that when you come to breakfast at Hawksmoor because here you’re aiming for 110%.

Now I'm sure you'll have heard all about their UNREAL steaks but did you know they also do breakfast? It's only available Monday to Friday and it's only served at the Guildhall branch and it's literally ah-mah-zing! . I took Tom for his birthday as a little treat. As it was a treat and a friday and because they were called anti-fogmatics we started our breakfast with a cocktail. Who cares if it was only 9am?

Breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day and this could very well be the reason Hawkmoor has created what GQ describes as Londons best power breakfast. The famous London Steakhouse holds the reputation for quality meats and it's Guildhall location offers a variety of these for breakfast. The venue is underground and as you walk in you have the feeling of a old cigar club with suited city workers, a classic bar and a dark cosy atmosphere

Old wives tales will tell you that you should be consuming about 20% of your daily calorie intake for breakfast. Well forgot that when you come to breakfast at Hawksmoor because here you're aiming for 110%.

The Hawksmoor breakfast is something of a London legend and written into the City's lore. Intended for 2, it could easily feed 3 if not 4 and to understand why, you just have to review the menu:
Smoked bacon chop, sausages, (made with pork, beef, & mutton), black pudding, short-rib bubble & squeak, grilled bone marrow, trotter baked beans, fried eggs, grilled mushrooms, roast tomatoes, HP gravy and, to top it all off, unlimited toast (which if you even touch, then you are a better man than I).

The meal is HUGE irrespective of what meal it is but to have it for breakfast is just incredible. But even taking the awe striking size of the plate aside, the quality of meat is fantastic and so moreish you can't help but just keep eating and eating and eating and eating...It is the pinnacle of breakfast.

If meat's not your thing, don't fret because there are other items, such as the lobster benedict, are also equally impressive. As delicious as it is generous, the extra large muffins are very fluffy and provide the perfect sponge to soak in all that beautiful hollandaise sauce and runny egg yolk and you gorge yourself along with lobster claw.

All washed down with a cornflake milkshake and you've got a meal which will take you through to dinner if not beyond.

So if you love breakfast, you NEED this in your life. Take a capable partner who you trust to power through with you and also, maybe take a pillow because you'll also likely be in need of a nap after.

Also follow me on Twitter @annixontong and @wetrykai and on Instagram @annixontong.

Hawksmoor these days has almost reached "legendary" status with its combination of prime steak and top notch cocktails. It has always been a debate among the Londoners which group has the best steak in town, Hawksmoor or Goodman. I tested for myself when I visited Hawksmoor Guildhall and went for the Porterhouse steak, the same cut I had when I was at Goodman. The Porterhouse was indeed pretty special, really moist and rich, but perhaps too smoky for my liking, and it wasn't as tender as Goodman. For almost £50 per head, steak should be close to perfection, but that wasn't the case for me with Hawksmoor.

Hawksmoor is arguably one of London’s leading steakhouses (of course not forgetting Goodman) and since opening in Manchester, only with Gaucho as real competition, I don’t doubt they’re the best up North too. As steakhouses often are, it was all very manly; the fact we were in their Guildhall outpost added to the suity feel. The long basement dining room reminded me of a public school’s lunch hall with its wooden panelled walls. It’s a pretty spot though.

Will Beckett and Huw Gott opened the first Hawksmoor in September 2006 in a former kebab shop with a mere 60 covers in Spitalfields market. The concept was simple – well sourced steak, solid British fayre and contemporary cocktails, and it was an immediate success, receiving critical acclaim and lots of foot traffic. In the early days Hawksmoor’s drinks menu (including a famous reinvention of the marmalade cocktail) was arguably more well know than their food – head barman Nick Strangeway won numerous awards for his creative cocktails, including the Best Restaurant Bar the year Hawksmoor opened. They drafted in head chef Richard Turner in 2009 (he is also the brainchild of London’s meat and barbecue festival, Meatopia) and from there the Hawksmoor brand went from strength to strenth. Turner’s menu is still very meat and steak heavy, but over the past few years it has bran

I had probably the best steak of my life at this place a couple of weeks ago, when I was out with some of my friends. We ordered a Surf and turf which was a fillet steak with half a lobster. Both the dishes were brilliantly prepared and tasted absolutely delicious. They also offer an incredible selection of sides to perfectly compliment the mains.

The lobster macaroni and cheese dish served at this place was actually the best dish I have had so far. To be honest, I has not heard of this place in the past before going, and I am disappointed by that. The waitress sold us on some of the side dishes, and persuaded us to have the mac n cheese. It was a brilliant suggestion. We felt that our steak dinner was a gourmet option. It is a brilliant place to visit.

Tucked away next to the guildhall, Hawksmoor is very easy to walk past, especially if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If you spot a swarm of city bankers in white shirts then you’re probably heading in the right direction.

Stepping through the enormous door you’re transported into a grand entrance, very dimly lit and manned by extremely quirky staff, who fit in with the restaurant well. Head down the stairs and you arrive at a lovely tiled bar where you can sip on delicious cocktails before you head into the main restaurant.

The food at Hawksmoor is by no way cheap, but given its city location, prime cuts and with a power breakfast hailed by GQ magazine, it doesn't really need to be cheap. Monday nights at Hawksmoor are BYOB for only £5 corkage so if you want to keep costs down then this is the night to go.

We started off with some cocktails, which Hawksmoor do very well. Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew (gin with homemade ginger syrup, lemon juice and London Pride) was the star, a generous froth of ginger foam, ice cold and had a lovely tart sweetness. I highly recommend.

Hawksmoor has two menus, the bar and the restaurant. The burger was the obvious choice. Made with 100% longhorn beef, intertwined with nuggets of bone marrow to give the burger a buttery richness while keeping it succulent and juicy. Finished off with lettuce, tomato and your choice of cheese, either Ogleshield or Colston Bassett stilton, I opted to add bacon for an extra charge. It’s a truly delicious burger. Using beef from the famed Ginger Pig butchers, which I personally think is the best around. I asked for my burger to be cooked medium rare but it came out more medium. Despite being slightly overcooked it was still a delicious burger none the less which stands out from the crowd, especially considering the competition in London these days.

Hungry? The plate arrived full to the brim with accompanying ‘trotter baked beans’ in a separate bowl. First impressions were strong, and the sausages made with pork beef and mutton stole the show by some distance. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the black pudding was extremely light and rich in flavour. However, I thought the smoked bacon tasted odd (a little like having penicillin breath) and the beans tasted of curry and were cold, making the overall dish rather disappointing – especially the bacon. Our breakfasting experience wasn’t helped by the diabolical service we endured. From forgotten orange juices, to late and cold coffee, the morning’s trajectory was consistently downhill from minute-one. The experience also jarred with our experiences of the Hawksmoor at night. Perhaps our expectations were too high? Perhaps we visited on a bad day? I certainly can’t reconcile the breakfast with the evening dining. However, I would be willing to go back to give breakfast another try, even if i

The food is quite expensive, but it’s very high quality and totally justified. It would be easy for a restaurant like that to hoik up the wine prices too – and there are some ridiculously priced bottles on the list (ten reds in the £200-500, for example). But the normal wines start at £18, with a good selection under £30, and they’re perfectly nice

That said – it’s by far the best breakfast I’ve had in London and the perfect start to a day of busy sight seeing. If you’re in need of some serious morning sustenance – this is the place to go.

The thought of Hawksmoor food elicits an almost instinctive and automatic response of elaborate salivation and craving that is fueled by some orgasmic past culinary experiences. Hawksmoor Guildhall: Bone marrow and onions (9/10) Hawksmoor Guildhall: Chicory, walnut, pear and Colston Bassett salad (8/10) By now Hawksmoor ‘s steaks are legendary and lately they’ve gained some notoriety for their burgers as well. With the passing of time, ever changing London food fads and stiff competition from the Goodman and Lobster & burger chain, Hawksmoor has expanded it’s menu with burgers and seafood dishes. Hawksmoor Guidhall doesn’t quite have the buzz that for instance Hawksmoor Sevendials or the Spitalfields branches have (as most of the clientele are city folks), but it does have a similar dark wooden interior that has become synonymous with the Hawksmoor brand. We visited the restaurant early in the day (5pm) and the staff was s

The staff, as always, are super-cool and happy to help. I just love this place and even though there are a lot of steak restaurants in London now, I would feel like I was cheating on my partner if I visited any one of them, such is the love. Needless to say, our South African visitor loved it too and rated it up there with the quality of steaks you would get in SA!
Joseph Stalin, not usually noted for his wit, is reported to have said that the punishment for the crime of bigamy is two mother in laws. While we have certainly enjoyed Hawksmoor from the early days of the blog, we have over the past year become somewhat wedded to Goodman. However, today I again found myself in Hawksmoor (Guildhall branch) and the ribeye steak there was simply superb, as good as any. I fear that I have become a steakhouse bigamist. Despite recent City redundancies, the Guildhall branch was effectively 100% full for a mid week lunch service and the room buoyant with suits, almost hard to fathom in current times. Tangential to this however, the acoustics are terrible and the noise levels made a regular conversation so difficult you had to lean in to your guest to hear what was being said: that is my sole criticism of the lunch. It's a mostly similar menu to the other Hawksmoor outlets and it looks appealing in its entirety, with bone marrow, pork belly, and potted bee

In food on October 18, 2012 at 6:12 pm I have to make a big fat confession before I start. I was meant to review this for The Lawyer for breakfast. I did have the breakfast, sharing the room with only two other punters, which, given the size of the place was a little disconcerting, but I didn’t get round to posting the review and I need to rectify that. The breakfast was fine by the way, but unless they get more people in to have it, I can’t see it’s worth their while to staff up to fill that cavernous space. And it’s a bit grim for breakfast, being underground. But there you go. Confession over. Having recently started to eat meat again, I thought I’d go for the jackpot with a big steak. No pussyfooting around with a little bit of mince or chicken. No, I was basically looking at a big chunk of cow. And although my head doesn’t love that phrase, my stomach does. And I started with a half lobster, cooked in the shell. Looks a bit lonely on the plate, doesn’t it? At £17.50, not starting

I do love a good English breakfast, so when I was offered the chance to review the breakfast at Hawksmoor Guildhall, I was thrilled. Hawksmoor is a small group of London based restaurants, best known for their steaks. The Guildhall branch is open for breakfast from Monday to Fridays – opening at 7am and finishing service at 10am. Being fainthearted, I booked the latest reasonable slot – so when we arrived at 9.30 the restaurant was about a quarter full. The entrance is quite deceptive, the large restaurant and bar are downstairs. The breakfast menu offers a wide range of dishes including the Full English which I chose, usually served with eggs (missing from my plate by choice!). Really there’s little to fault in the dish, meaty sausages, firm and well flavoured bacon. There’s a nice portion of real black pudding, a piece of hashbrown and a good portion of nutty baked beans. My fr

I highly recommend Hawksmoor and it’s not just about the meat, it’s also the Lobster in hazelnut butter i’ve heard so much about and buzzing atmosphere, oh and did I mention the amazing selection of Chateau d’Yquem? Skip desert and head straight for the desert wine would be my tip, just don’t expect it to be cheap!

We had 900g of Porterhouse which came to £76. It was perfectly cooked and wonderfully smoky, and we happily coped without sauces, but there just wasn’t quite enough of it. For £76, I shouldn’t be peckish. At all. You really are paying a lot for a massive bone, as it were…

A couple of weeks ago before the wife went on a “work trip” to Venezuela and before I started my new job in sunny Clapham, we kind of had a celebration by having lunch at Hawksmoor at the Guildhall. It had been quite a while since we’d had a good steak that was memorable, and we both felt we were long overdue another one. I’m not sure why I chose this one over the Shoreditch branch, but I think it was the rave reviews that J had given me about the breakfast he had there with Stevie P one morning, and plus door to door by one bus. Sorted it. I kinda knew that a midweek lunch here would be full of suited city types enjoying an expenses fuelled meal, and yes it was. Quite a few of them as well, eating the biggest steaks, drinking the most expensive wines all paid for by their companies. Lucky people. I understand why restaurants fill their ranks with sweet young hipsters, it’s good business sense, but I hate the fact that it makes me feel older and older, the young lass who showed us to o

Hawksmoor , the self-proclaimed "home of the best steak in London", has been near the top of my to do list for some time. And it still is. Well at least for steaks. Because, rather than heading along for an evening of oversized steaks and red wine, I decided to head along for breakfast. What is this? Meeting people for breakfast? While it is common in places where the sun doth shine (Australia springs to mind) to meet friends for a bite to eat before starting the day, us Brits normally savour our friends' company in the dark hours! Preferably with a sizable helping of booze. I am no different. But I have been forced to change my ways (at least partially) to keep up with G-Star, who now has a one year old baby. Normally we head along to Beppe's Cafe. An "old-skool" cafe at Smithfields market. They serve a mean coffee and bacon roll. But seeing as it was G-Star's 30th we decided to go for something a little special. And so it was that G-Star, the Ginger Weegie, DivC and I gathered

And there finishes the most epic breakfast of my life thus far. Despite the ostentatious surroundings, this is casual dining amongst it’s best, if only my body and bank balance allowed me to do it every day. A magnificently decadent feast indeed. Can happily face chocolate again now.

By the end of our Hawksmoor Breakfast for Two both the Euro Hedgie and I were cradling our swollen bellies like expectant mothers, cooing wistfully to the gurgling bag of meat swirling mere millimetres beneath the skin.

hawksmoor guildhall breakfasts are for those with hearty appetites. o’s steak with a little candle for a birthday wish came with two large fried eggs and thick rounds of hash browns. my omelette came in shallow white ovenware. it’s top of cheese was softened under the grill and rimmed by liquid butter. there is nothing more lovely than the smell of sharp cheese with butter. the omelette arnold bennett at hawksmoor is between a soufflé and scrambled eggs with thick flakes of smoked haddock and cheese. it’s perhaps the most comfort i’ve seen on a plate and is perfect winter food. the heat of pan continues to cook the omelette and so you get a lovely variation of textures from top to bottom.

If you’ve been putting off visiting Hawksmoor due to wallet restrictions, then my advice is book a table for breakfast and go for it. You can spend £15-20 per head and get some of the best morning food in the capital.

But they are one of the very best things I've eaten this year. I never much liked doughnuts; they remind me of a brief teenage time I spent in Ipswich, biting into grease sponges fried in whiffy old fat from carts that lined the high street. Krispy Kremes make me feel sick and give me a toothache. But these, at Hawksmoor 's new Guildhall branch, are light and fluffy, the cold custard and jam a welcome smooth contrast. Oh, and my 250gr ribeye with an egg and hash browns was pretty damn sexy, even at 8am. What a breakfast to start the week. I only wish I didn't have to go to work that day, or I'd have gotten right stuck into the Bloody Mary buffet, or some breakfast cocktails, or a cornflake hardshake; nothing like a slug of bourbon to wake you up. Hawksmoor is not cheap, but you do get alot of steak. With quality like this and a wine list to match, they will no doubt have the city boys flocking to show off both their carnivorous appetite and their wallets.

The potted beef and plum pudding bacon. A truly wonderful dish; rich shreds of smoky meat served with thick slices of chargrilled bread and piquant pickles. Although this is a pretty robust start to a meal I had no problem polishing the whole lot off and could have happily eaten plenty more.
