First time at Bravas restaurant for lunch.
Location and setting ideal. By the quays with some out doors seating and also inside. But not easy to find so give extra time to avoid arriving late.
Food presentation original and very good quality.
Small portions contemporary tapas style.
So if u are after quantity rather than quality might not be your place.
Service informal but very friendly.
Good wine list and drinks option.
Pricy but worthy for an special ocasión or surprising your friend or your partner.

Bravas Tapas opened last year and I have been trying to find the time to venture down to St Katharine Docks to pay it a visit. Traditionally, I am not a fan of Spanish food but my father had been raving about Bravas' "alternative style tapas" so off we went to celebrate my mother's birthday.

Great decor, good selection in the menu which is not over bearing. Lamb chops were succulent, octopus were well seasoned and dessert was the perfect end. Quaint place hidden on the side of the main dock, should definitely be promoted more.

Happened upon this location while searching Zomatos from within the Tower of London. It's right beside the docks and a massive array of sailboats, making it quite idyllic. The staff was friendly and helpful, greeting us as soon as we entered the restaurant. We ordered the Sangria and Bravos Passion Fruit, both of which were delicious, especially the Bravos! We decided to order something off each section of the menu: starter, meat, veg, and would order a fish dish if we were still hungry. We got the cheese plate, the lamb, the chorizo, the bravas potatoes, and finally the spinach croquetas. Shared between 2 people we were quite full after, especially because you need to eat each bite with a weird metal pokey utensil that looks like giant tweezers. Every single thing we ordered was amazing. The food was fresh and felt authentic. Neither of us are big fans of lamb but we wanted to try it, after we were both lamb converts. I highly recommend it and the bravas potatoes! A great find and I will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!

This week I have sat on the waterfront terrace at Bravas Tapas twice. Yes, it really is that good. This new restaurant hidden within St.Katherine's Dock features incredible flavors in bite sized portions. From the very moment you enter its rustic, shabby chic decor you are instantly put at ease.

The staff are attentive and the food is utterly delicious - but don't expect the whole order in one go. In typical tapas style it arrives as and when it is cooked, ensuring every plate is fresh and hot. Using a knife and fork at Bravas Tapas isn't encouraged. Tapas is a meal that is meant to be shared. Instead you’re armed with tongs, giving a relaxed and informal environment.  

The classic pan con tomate (right) was extremely good value for money at £3; drizzled with olive oil and bursting with garlic, this mini morsel was a flavour explosion and good start to our meal. I still dream of the gazpacho. Served over fresh onion and herbs, the liquid in poured at the table to add a touch of theatre. Rich and full of flavour, this is one dish that shouldn't be shared.  The braised beef short rib was a little tricky to eat with tongs. With a bit of teamwork, however, the meat gently fell apart and melted in the mouth. The Cod esqueixada (thinly sliced fresh cod with black olives, salsa and radish salad), was so good we ordered it twice. Fresh, salty and light - the perfect dish on a summer's day.  The Moorish spiced lamb chops with aioli were served medium rare. Again, these were a little tricky to handle with the tongs, so fingers had to be used. To finish the meal we ordered the Torta de Santiago (almond cake originating from Galicia) which was served with sharo morello cherry sorbet and salted almonds.

I cannot fault the service, food or atmosphere at Bravas Tapas. My only critique would be that some plates are on the expensive side, meaning the bill can add up quickly. Would I return again? Absolutely!

...Fresh Salmon 'Rulada' which were rolls of fresh salmon wrapped around shoestring sweet potato. This dish was the one that intrigued me the most, the sweet potato was crispy and I have no idea how they did it, but combined with the salmon was the perfect combination.My only problem was that I wasn't quite sure how to attack them, they were bigger than sushi rolls so too big to pop into my mouth in one but manhandling them with pincers and taking smaller bites seemed inelegant. They did go down a treat though.

A cheerful little restaurant, seems a bit overly styled though. Menu is short and sweet, and there are a lot of appetizing options. Food is a bit of a mixed bag with a couple of winners - patatas bravas, lamb chops, foie gras crema catalana (incredible, with a nutty caramelized crust and soft brioche bread). Not a big fan of the salmon rulada, or the tomato bread (why is this basic SO hard to get right?). Sangria too sweet but delicious. Friendly service, so great to find an independent restaurant surrounded by big chains, so will be back.

When I heard that a new tapas restaurant, Bravas Tapas, would be opening in St Katherine Docks I was excited as it's not too far from both home and work for me. 

If you aren't familiar with St Katherine Docks, it's a really pretty area and although it's so close to Tower Bridge because it's a bit set back behind buildings, it tends to be frequented by locals rather than being snided out by tourists (or at least that's how it feels). However, it's downside is that apart from the smaller cafes which are open in the day, the restaurants tend to be chains; Slug and Lettuce, Strada, Zizzi, Ping Pong, Cafe Rouge. The prospect of something a bit different was enough to catch my attention.

The restaurant has a rustic feel to it with deep leather chairs, wooden plank tables and velvet cushioned banquettes along one wall and in front of the windows. The whole place looks like it's been there for ages, even though I know it's brand new. 

When we went, there were three or four dishes in each section of the menu; Artisanal Snacks, Meat and Poultry Tapas, Vegetarian Tapas, Fish and Seafood Tapas and Dessert. 

The other thing is that, instead of a knife and fork as standard, you get pincers (for the unadventurous or uncoordinated, you can request a knife and fork too). Halfway into the meal my boyfriend declared we should use pincers all the time, I was less convinced about replacing my trusty knife and fork in day to day life.

We started by ordering Spanish Pickles, which contained a home marinated selection of onion, garlic, olives and gherkins. At a restaurant called Bravas Tapas, of course we had to order the Patatas Bravas, they were well spiced and fluffy little potatoes with salsa brava and alioli. A nice simple dish but well done.

We also ordered the Pa 'amb Tomaquet (toasted baguette with tomato and olive oil) and the Cod 'Esqueixada' which is raw thinly sliced cod with black olives, onions and served with a sauce (I'm not sure what). This was fresh and summery and would be the perfect dish for a sunny day sat outside with a glass of wine.

The only dish we ordered from the Meat and Poultry section was the Moorish Spiced Lamb Chops. I'm not normally a massive lamb fan but this was beautifully cooked, I'm not sure I could taste Moorish spices but these were definitely moreish.

There were two other meat dishes; Morcilla sliders (which looked great but I don't eat black pudding or anything similar because the idea just puts me off) and a Foie Gras Crema Catalana (I don't profess to be an animal lover but I won't eat foie gras). So, personally, maybe a few more slightly more conventional meat choices would have been better for me.

We also ordered the Assortment of Cheeses, although this might have been more the sort of dish that would normally be ordered if going for a drink, rather than with a meal, we saved it until last like our own little cheeseboard.

Our final fish dish was Wild Mediterranean Seabass with Salsa Donostiarra. Again, lovely. The skin was crispy and delicious and again, it was lovely and fresh and tasty.

There were two desserts on the menu and with two of us, we decided to try one of each and share. The first was Torta de Santiago, a soft torte with cherries and served with almonds and sorbet. Delicious.

We had regretted not ordering the Gazpacho after we saw others eating it from a unique lying down wine glass. So we were pleased that our other dessert, Fresh Macerated Strawberries, came in the same glass. 

Service was perfect, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was all gorgeous and beautifully presented, in fact we couldn't decide which dish was our favourite because they were all so good. I only wish we'd been for dinner instead of lunch as I imagine the place is beautifully cosy when lit by candles and looking out onto the twinkly lights of the docks.

It's so nice to find somewhere new that's local and which ticks all of my boxes in a restaurant; great food, good service, lovely setting and real ambiance. Overall, a great addition to the area.

Is there a theme in new restaurant openings this year you ask? The answer is no. Every different type of cuisine is now opening in London, down every side street, on every hill and on every day. It is utterly crazy. I recently decided on the ambitious task of starting a new 'Opening Soon' page - it now takes up the majority of my life to keep the thing update. Everyday a new restaurant is open, changing their opening date and adding soft launch details. The only plus side to it all is that sometimes, and definitely not always, great new restaurants do open - and Bravas Tapas is one of them.

Backing Bravas Tapas are two big names. Victor Garvey (American chef previously working in Spain), and Bal Thind (restaurateur & original investor in Hakkasan). Victor Garvey is an accomplished chef who grew up and worked in Barcelona before buying is own restaurant in Marbella back in 2010. His menu here at Bravas Tapas is actually very traditional but with a few twists and turns along the way - mostly in its presentation.

We unfortunately didn't get to experience the full menu apparently, but what we did get was fantastic! So surely it can only get better from here. Perhaps a very bold statement (but an accurate one) the best gazpacho i have ever had. Served in a funky purpose made wine glass, all the key ingredients sat in the base of the glass before the smooth cold tomato soup is slowly poured over. It was heavenly, meant for sharing - but i didn't want to.

Patatas bravas served with bravas salsa and whipped-to-order aioli were very, very good indeed. Crunchy potatoes, well seasoned and very fluffy. The bravas salsa and whipped aioli was absolutely delicious. Why whipping aioli is not more widespread i do not know - but it makes it even better and a little lighter on the tummy.

The classic pan con tomate here was just as i remember it in Jerez, bringing back lots of memories of sun and sherry. The bread was a little on the crispy side but given a few minutes for the olive oil and garlic laden tomato mixture to seep in, it all made sense. Prices here at Bravas Tapas were sometimes on the high side, compared with occasional small portions - this definitely needs attention. Though this dish on the other hand at £3, was a bargain.

I've eaten here a couple of times, always fab. On a sunny October day we dined on the terrace overlook the beautiful St Katharine Docks. I felt like I was on holiday. We shared vegetarian taps and my partner also tried a salmon dish. Everything is beautifully presented. The service was also excellent.

This was a 5 star experience! A gorgeous restaurant in a lovely setting, a 2 minute walk from Tower Bridge, set on the edge of a gorgeous marina. The restaurant itself has a lovely quaint feel to it. The waiters were so kind and patient, giving an excellent service, even on a busy Saturday night! The food was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious and we couldn’t find fault with a single thing we experienced. We had the cheese plate, jamon, spinach croquettes, pork belly, beef short rib and patatas bravas. Great selection of wine. Would definitely recommend!

An authentic Spanish restaurant near south bank. Located at a hidden place, surrounded by a delicate pier, and with several outdoor seats. Tapas dishes we’d tried were all delicious. Patata Bravas and the grilled octopus were the must-try. The indoor seats were quite stuffy in summer as the air conditioner did not work well. Staffs were very friendly

The food here is a bit of a hit or miss for me for the price. Some of the dishes like the oysters and anchovies are very fresh and delicious but I found some of the meats and the bravas potatoes a bit on the dry side. Contrary to other reviews, service was really good for us.

Called in here in the off chance as we had done a walk that finished in St Katherine’s Dock. The service was good, the food was outstanding particularly the pork belly and lamb chops. We had the cheapest bottle of wine which was excellent. We had 10 dishes between 4 of us and probably 3 each would be ideal. We felt it was good value for the quality of the food

Friendly staff, partner asked if they had a charging cable and one of the chefs was generous enough to lend his own. Food fantastic, best tapas had in London, had 6 plates between us and that more than enough. Thank you

OMG This place has everything we like: good food, small portions so you can taste more ... as tapas should be, good atmosphere, good service, good wine, good !!! I recommended it to several friends and they all thanked me dearly. I'm giving this recommendation worrying about the next time I come, I hope the waiting list won't be too bad... 😆😆 Oh, and the price was fair !!

Felt the staff could have been a little more welcoming, not very busy when we arrived and the waitress was serving. However, a little eye contact from the bar staff wouldn’t have gone a miss. Very hot day and the air conditioning was great. The food was excellent and the presentation very clever - especially the gazpacho served in a wine glass on its side. Only disappointment was the lamb chops, fat was very raw and spoilt the dish. Not cheap but maybe paying a little more for the location. Worth a visit.

Had lunch here, Great setting especially during warmer months for some great tapas. Sat outside overlooking the Dock sun was shining and could of easily been in a harbour on Spain. The tapas was outstanding and reasonably priced for London. The octopus was really good, if I had one negative it would be that I wish the prawns were king prawns. But thats just me. Service was attentive and friendly and they have a great selection of wines to choose from. Definitely worth a visit if you are on this side of tower bridge. But get there early as by the time we left it was busy.

The tapas is amazing, in fact, beyond amazing. The flavours are delicate and well-balanced, and each ingredient stands out. This place takes tapas to the next level. The waiter was friendly and helpful and made spot-on dish recommendations. I recommend the salmon tapas, which had a slight kick to it, thanks to mustard. To drink, it has to be the sangria, which was fruity, cut through by the generous quantity of alcohol. The only thing that knocks a some of the shine off was that they kept making it clear that they wanted to close for the night, and it felt like they wanted us to hurry. The location is easy to access and set in docks on the Thames, only 10 minutes from the Tower of London. If you are in the area, you must go. The price was good for the quality.

Recently dined at Bravas Tapas and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. It is located within St Katherine’s dock and atmosphere was warm and inviting, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who would kindly give their recommendations. But the true star of the show was the food. If you're looking for a fantastic Tapas experience that you won't want to forget, be sure to give this a try.

This restaurant has a special place in my heart. It’s where I went on my first date with my current boyfriend and where we went back for our first anniversary. Our second anniversary as coming up soon and we will probably go there again. The food is delicious and really affordable. The atmosphere is so romantic wether you sit inside or outside. The only thing they fall short on is the desserts but that’s just my personal taste. Will 100% go back and recommend this as probably one of the best tapas restaurants in London
