I don’t care what anyone says but apart from having my personal favourite foods, there is one country in particular that always manages to satisfy on all counts – France! Butter, meat, wine, more butter, garlic and decadent desserts. With all of the richness and gluttony that France has to offer I’ve never quite understood why they’re not all very large – but I guess it’s down to freshness and quality. No artificial sugars or who knows what. Instead local and delicious foods which always satisfy – washed down with gallons of good red wine.

I do like a bit of an intellectual do, do I! Just for a change, now and again, it’s stimulating to exercise those little grey cells and step out of the vacuous posing of London social life, to exchange news, views and listen to people who know their highbrow stuff. I mean, let’s not kid ourselves, like 90% of attendees at these events, I am more of a pseudo than the real McCoy. Sure, way back when, in those heady university days, when I wore black top to toe, participated in sit-ins and generally made an effort to be Serious with a capital S, I worked diligently at my reasonably good degree. I was the queen of marker pens and margin notes, adored the Existentialist revival, attended any discussion group going and listened enthusiastically to the works of obscure French chansonniers. All this was conducted in blessed short-sighted soft focus, because, despite my desperate attempts to cultivate that intellectual image, vanity, so frowned upon by my peers of a similar ilk, prevented me from wearing my glasses and seeing things as they really were. And that was the beginning of my pretending to be more scholarly than I really am. Who doesn’t like to step into another identity occasionally?

Blanchette one of London’s cute little finds. A beautiful chic French restaurant/bistro filled with Parisian rustic charm. Looks family owned. A Warm, cosy and a romantic setting for lovers, friends and family. A fusion of French and Moroccan cuisine, delightful dining experience in a lightly dim room with candles in a tea cup. The baked eggs were great, the steak served in red wine was delicious and the charcuterie platters were good too. Loved the choices of wine. The staff were great, polite and charming. Our waitress was a lovely young lady. I would definitely go back there. Maybe try the Soho branch too.

Nice French restaurant. Nice selection of food and they also have a separate vegan menu. The concept is to share plates. The food was good but nothing exceptional. I recommend the Moroccan eggs with flatbread. Service is good. Nice atmosphere

Delicious food that is designed for sharing. The menu is well thought out and the flavours are well balanced. The steak menu did let everything down a bit - the meat was overcooked and a bit fatty. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with enough space to ensure you don't feel crammed into the tables.

All five dishes we’ve ordered were super delicious. Lamb, pork, veggies are so good, but what really amazes is their attention to the details, like the sauce that comes with fries or purée. It can be a bit noisy upstairs, so just sit at the beautiful marble bar and enjoy this lovely place.

Cool French bistro vibe in Brick Lane feels like a friendly neighbourhood restaurant. The French menu is a mix of Southern French and North African influences so you can have Confit Duck Leg and Baked Moroccan Eggs with Peppers and Flat Bread to share. Great place to share dishes with friends - excellent quality and you can also have snack, charcuterie, cheese and a good wine list too!

what a lovely little gem! went mid week for dinner and every single dish we tried was a hit. big praises in particular for the pork fillet and the chocolate pot. we shared 5 dishes between two of us (jambon, baked cheese, pork fillet, swardfish, couscous) and they were plenty to feed us, but the food was so good we went for desserts too! very romantic ambience, and impeccable service. top marks!

Lovely French-African restaurant with high quality, carefully prepared dishes and fair prices. The only negative aspect is that I felt slightly rushed by the waitress.

Came for a set course lunch which was 15 pounds and certainly worth it! I had a baked cheese starter with an onion jam and croutons, followed by the confit duck leg with sweet potato accompanied by a delicious green salad. My friend had a beetroot salad with feta filo and macadamia nuts with honey. Followed by muscles and chips which were equally delicious.

Absolutely delicious. Favorirtes were the moule frites and the fried cheese - such a unique touch to it, so flavorful! Great wine selection too. Perfect for a date, highly recommend and will be back for the tartare.

Cosy and great atmosphere, amazing food and great service. Table was a little small for 3 people but food was bought out slowly to manage the small table.
