We have been in the Spice Village quite few times and we have been truly satisfied with food and excellent service. It will be my first choice if I visit next time again. The staff were polite and helpful. Highly recommended.

Some really nice dishes, some a little unusual. The decor is a cut above local competition but standards do slip when they get too busy.
The samosa chat is a personal favourite

Possibly the largest Asian restaurant on the busy high road in Tooting (a part of London renowned for its multiculturalism and saturated with restaurants), Spice Village has been around for a while and is very popular with local Asian families. The interior has been refurbished, so the canteen style with fluorescent green walls has now been replaced with a Liberace-meets-car-boot-sale decor. However, it is the food that draws the crowds. A couple who were waiting for a table said the food here is ‘pretty authentic’ and  ‘like food back home in Pakistan’.

CURRYBOND
+4
It was the end of May, we were in England...it was obviously cold and wet. So even though all CURRYBOND venues should be within walking distance we lined up a couple of cars for our first CURRYBOND convoy! Seeing as our venue for this week is in the upper reaches of Tooting very much in Bec territory, we were happy to avoid the 20 min walk to The Gorringe in British "Summertime".

10 CURRYBONDs down, it finally happened, recognition. Jobbers, first to arrive was warmly greeted by the patrons of Spice Village with a "welcome, we recognised you from the website", and he wasn't even wearing his I Heart CURRYBOND T-shirt! As the CURRYBONDers filter through we take our place on what can only be described as a curry dais, elevated above the curry masses, clearly reserved for the cream of the curry crop. Special treatment? Maybe? Do we care absolutely not!

Spice Village is certainly a high class curry establishment, plush interior, adorned with chandeliers, purple and cream furnishings, glitz and glamour galore. It has a warming feel and fills up throughout the night creating a lively buzz. The service was quite frankly superb. We should perhaps return to the special treatment, another perk of the curry dais appeared to be our very own waiter, literally attending to our every need. Whilst this is possibly not the case for every patron to Spice Village seven days a week, again we don't care! It was great! All this adds up to our best curry experience so far with three 10s from the CURRYBONDers! Giving Spice Village and impressive

Venue score 9.4/10

However, these CURRYBONDers have been around the balti block and aren't swayed by the pretty packaging, it comes down to the curry. We kick off with a round of popadoms which went down a treat followed by a nice selection of starters, Lamb Samosas, Tandoori Chicken Wings, Chatpata, Seekhe Lahore and our Bhaji's for the evening. We're pretty satisfied, good sounds all round, we're even treated to what can only be a Bond inspired concoction of chilled chickpeas in a Martini glass! The bhaji's were good, sizeable rostis with a good crunch and a warming spice. They get a bhaji score of 7/10.

So far so good, great venue, great service and a solid set of starters. But the real test comes when the curry comes to town. On the menu, Murgh Dopiaza, Balti Murgh, Balti Ghosht, Karahi Jheenga, Ghosht Rogan Josh, Murgh Makhnila, Chicken Tikka Masala, Pilau rice, Garlic Naans and the now mandatory Cheese Naan. Things looked good, some nice authentic Karahi dishes, sizzling hot plates and some good looking garnish. We also got a strong recommendation from our hosts to sample the Fish Masala, whilst none of the CURRYBONDers were feeling overly fishy this evening our hosts were so keen to show off this special we were presented with a portion gratis!

Perfection it seems however is not quite so easy to grasp. Whilst the curry was pretty tasty the general consensus was fine but a little disappointing. A little heavy, a little salty, and not overly distinctive. So falling a little short on the food scores getting a

Food score of 6.9/10.

The bill arrives at a fairly lofty £120.30 that's £17.18/CURRYBONDer and considering Spice Village is another alcohol free establishment this comes in at the top end of curry prices in Tooting. Freebies aside, the portions were good and we certainly left satisfied.

Value score of 6.9/10.

So Spice Village certainly tops the bill if you're looking to impress a curry virgin with the sparkles and soft furnishings but if you're hosting a curry veteran with taste buds scarred from past skirmishes with phaals and vindaloos then they may file the curry fare on offer in the middle of their roller deck.

Spice Village gets and Overall score of 7.9/10.

Returning to an empty kitchen and having already made myself sick after gorging an entire box of Quality Street in one sitting (it was a small box!!), I was in the mood to eat the least Christmassy food that I could find. And in Tooting that means one thing – curry! Now, I have lived in Tooting for five years but, embarrassingly, I tend to divide my time between only two of the neighbourhood’s famed curry houses. So, as the title of this website declares, I am determined to break the habit of a lifetime (or of five years at least) and venture forth into new territory! With this in mind, I boldly strode into the first restaurant I came to, which happened to be Spice Village.

Located in the main Tooting Road. Parking is a problem. Need to search for parking in the nearby streets. The interiors and ambiance is just ok. But the kebabs and food is awesome. The Sheek Kebab, Chops, Chicken Tikka, and most of the dishes are very tasty. I visit this restaurant atleast once when ever I am in London.

Coming from Indian heritage, I am very fussy about indian/pakistani food as nobody makes it quite like my granma does. Spice Village however, has outstanding food. It is my favourite Indian restaurant, the food is consistent, tasty and authentic. You have to try the masala fish, lamb chops and karahi gosht. I only wish they wouldnt keep increasing the prices.

I recently went to Spice Village in London on a very cold evening. The restaurant was very busy so we had to wait until a table was available. The starters, mains and desserts were all very tasty. The waiter and the other restaurant staff were very friendly. It was definitely an awesome experience and would recommend Spice Village if you have a curry craving!

Great real authentic Pakistani Food. Brilliant food and a proper Pakistani restaurant. Good value for money. They recently renovated by buying the shop next door and have expanded to 2 shops. Large seating area, perfect for families. You will need to reserve if eating on Friday / Saturday night. I would recommend you try their Grilled Masala Fish and Haleem, both are a must try!

A very busy restaurant but plenty of seats so the waiting time ain't bad. Must say beautiful decor. Drinks good selection of mocktails. Food, has a variety of dishes and is reasonably priced. Overall the food was decent and enjoyable, a good portion also. A good place to go with a big family or friends group.

Lovely interior, good fast service. Presentation was on point. My veggie curry was a small portion and lacked a bit of depth and the breads were not as soft. Drinks, starters and everything else was lovely though.

Food was good but couldn’t enjoy much as it was very spicy. We asked for less spicy but I think the food is pre cooked and they can’t provide this option. We had chicken biryani, samosas chaat, pani puri, chicken tikka masala and all were spicy. Staff were accommodating but the place need better cleaning.

Very good experience here. Didn't book in advance but they were happy to accommodate us. There was a party in the back while we were there but it was kept separate from other dining guests which I appreciate as it can sometimes get rowdy. Our food was served within 20 minutes and the servers kept us updated. They were attentive and accommodating with any requests we had, such as all food served together and not staggered as it usually is with courses. I have to commend Aksa, the manager; she had everything under control and directed everything with ease. It was a great experience, decor was beautiful and ambiance was wonderful. I have already visited their other branch in Southall but I would definitely visit here again.

Very nice restaurant 10/10!! Beautiful layout you’ll definitely enjoy being here. Unfortunately, downside was that there’s no baby changing area and accessibility was a challenge as there wasn’t a ramp access or lift if you wanted to go upstairs. Overall, experience is very nice. Like a 5 star restaurant minus accessibility, food tasted lovely. Staff were very nice and welcoming, very professional and service was very quick. Music playing in the background was very current overall, I’ll definitely go back again but with no pushchair(luckily I left it in the car. Parking around the area is free from 5.30pm Monday-Saturday
