But if you are after a little bit of France in the centre of London, do try Mon Plaisir, they serve good straight forward typical and traditional French cuisine. You also get to practise your French, the waiters are very polite and friendly, even after a neighbouring table decided to speak French and ordered,

...there are so many good old eateries in my Seven Dials neighbourhood, and one of them is this lovely family-run French restaurant Mon Plaisir.

This is a place with a lot of history and you get that feeling when you walk in. It mixes an old-fashioned décor with something a bit more contemporary to create an atmosphere which is original and interesting. It is French bistro cooking at it's finest and the service was excellent and was happy to leave a generous tip. The food was fairly decent but nothing amazing. Nonetheless, I would consider going back.

An old-school dining establishment in the heart of Covent Garden, which oozes French charm (complete with vintage Ricard adverts and similar memorabilia), Mon Plaisir is a place that any fan of French cuisine simply has to check out. The food is delicious and traditional, it's in no way minimalist but rather an assortment of classic dishes done to perfection: the coq au vin is a particular highlight, as are the petit-pois with cream and bacon mixed in. The restaurant also boasts a tremendously inexpensive set-menu for lunch and pre-theatre. It is worth visiting for the decor alone - make sure you request a table at the front for this, at the back room is still nice but lacks the same atmosphere.

Interesting experience at this restaurant. Very authentic french food and most of the times you can even see a couple of french folk enjoying the food. The service is courteous and does not get in the way and they are very patient in waiting on you. For the most part, the cuisine is very good. I have had only a couple of disappointments along the way - the sirloin steak being one of them. Most of the time though the Lunch menu (which i usually order from) does the job well - and it not as expensive for a 2 course meal. This is a place to goto for good french food but i wouldn't classify it as great food.

Went there to celebrate my birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with the meal! Super authentic French food, tastes delicious and cooked perfectly! I was just sad that my steak tartare as my appetiser was so small, but maybe I should’ve gotten it as a main :) I will definitely come back! The onion soup was also really delicious! I think price wise it’s a bit on the high side, but not the most expensive French restaurant I’ve been to. And you get your money worth.

Total French experience, traditional and tasty! We were seated in a different area for our second visit, not so atmospheric and a little brighter and noisier than our last visit.

Had a wonderful birthday lunch here. We had beef skirt which was very nice. I asked for medium rare and it came in as exactly what I expected (seems not very common in the london dining scene…) Staff are very warm and friendly. I was surprised by the birthday decoration on the our apple tart. We actually didn’t request, but staff picked it up from my brief conversation and thoughtfully did it - despite they had been busy setting up the Bastille Day decor. Thank you for the lovely experience! Will be back.

Was told this is one of the oldest french restaurants in town. The food was delicious, and the french onion soup was out of the world!!

Amazing food. Lovely decor. Love the dumbwaiter and ticket system. What makes it even better is that it is family owned and operated. We had the pork shank, duck leg and scallops and shrimp. All simply amazing and perfect. The mixed salads were huge for only 4.50£. Highly and strongly recommend this restaurant.

Great food, but the retro decor has gone beyond cute and into scruffy. The French onion soup was a great traditional dish, the sea bass was fresh and delicious, but the bread and butter felt like it came from a supermarket. The whole decor felt aged in a bad way and the toilets smelt horrible and were awful.

I think I just found my favorite Frence Restaurant in London. Being looking for a place in London that has authentic bistro cuisine. I was not disappointed with Mon Plaisir, called up on the day and still managed to get a table for two outdoors. Had been wanting to visit this place for a bit and everything came into place today and at last I got to try them out. The food was parfait, we started with a basket of bread and butter, maybe not everyone’s choice as a starter but I love bread. I normally prefer traditional Frence baguette but the lighter soft crispy baguette we received was amazing. My partner opted for an omelet for her main course and I went with the sea bass, both were très bien. Has a side order of spinach with cream and washed it down with a glass of Côté du Rhône. We finished with a dessert of tart tartan and my partner had a passion fruit cake. Overall a great experience and we will be going here again very soon.

Bread, escargot, tartare beef, escalopes, Kir royal, wine Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran. All very tasty. Onion soup too sweet. Too much cheese. It seems like the soup has been cooked for British. It’s not exactly the original like in France. Service awesome. The lady who has serviced us was very nice, very helpful. She’s got a good sense of humour, as well. It’s not exactly France in London but we’ve spent an excellent time and probably we’ll return to the restaurant. Merci beaucoup, Mon Plaisir.

I had the pleasure to take my son before lockdown for a nice meal as a treat. The welcome from the staff was very warm. We were running late and contacted the restaurant to explain this. The owner came to the phone personally and told us she would hold the table for us. We arrived a hour late... and she stuck to her word. Couldn’t of asked for better food and presentation. We were very impressed. It was fresh and very tasty. We will hopefully be back as soon as they reopen. Thank you for having us “Mon Plaisir” ... see you soon!

First visit to this little french place. And won’t be the last. Wonderful proper french cooking and food. It was quite expensive still rounding out to £50 a head between four of us without dessert but well worth it. It’s not too noisy and not too dark and feels like you are in France. Vivre Mon Plaisir

My friends said you must go to this restaurant. You always worry but it was amazing. The food was out of this world and the ambiance and staff were magnificent. Would highly recommend.
