Probably the best pub in London. Excellent selection of beers and ciders, good though limited selection of bar snacks, friendly staff, and a small garden out the back. A friendly mixed crowd so there is always someone interesting to talk to. And at £3.40 a pint the prices are very reasonable.
Fantastic little pub guaranteed to bring out your inner old man beer drinker, or if you're London Curry Blog, your outer old man beer drinker. The Southampton Arms' selling point is its dedication to serving only beers and ciders from independent breweries, which means it attracts CAMRA members and ale lovers from all over the place to drink beer in dimpled pint glasses. Oh and they're pretty proud of their meat menu but I'm yet to try that (however I did notice they have scotch eggs on the snacks menu AKBoogie, time for a trip to K Town?)
The bar's cosy. Tiny but full of energy with a piano in the corner and old pictures all over the walls, and there's also a little beer garden outside which is great in summer. Cash only so remember your pennies for this one.
Still to be fully won over by Kentish Town as a cultural hub, Sarah M continues to try and persuade me otherwise. Taking me to the Southampton Arms certainly was a step in the right direction.
This is a really cosy pub serving proper, independent ales and cider. There's also a garden to compliment the latter when the sun is shining. Perfect drinking hole for this grumpy old man.

After a meal in Camden, we wandered over to Brewdog for a quick drink (how can you resist?) before getting on a bus towards Gospel Oak for our last stop of the evening, The Southampton Arms. Any pub that has a bus stop outside gets extra points. It may look small, but there is a lot going on inside. Bring cash - no cards!
With 18 handpulls full of ale and cider, and a committment to supporting small independent UK breweries, The Southampton Arms draws in discerning drinkers from all over London. Luckily though, it still manages to keep that local pub feel. With a roaring fire and steamed up windows, this is the ideal spot to hole up in for the winter.
We squeezed ourselves in and carved out some space by the piano opposite the fireplace. There were beers from Dark Star, Arbor, Magic Rock, Art Brew, Redemption, ELB and a few others to choose from, most of which were a bargain (these days) at £3.30 a pint. There won't be many pubs in London where you can get three high quality pints of real ale for under a tenner. There also aren't too many where you will find a record player behind the bar! I'm glad we made the journey up North - The Southampton Arms (as I expected it might) gets straight on to my Top 5 (or so) Pubs in London list.
Again a great boozer with a monster selection. More than anyone can sample in any session. However by the time you come again I very much doubt they will have the same selection! The simple bar snacks are what you would expect and dream of from such a place. A lovely garden at the back also in the summer.
A quiet midweek afternoon but a super place concentrating on ales and ciders from independent breweries. A bit ramshackled in a great way. A small courtyard garden at the back. Great friendly service and a pint of lager, way outnumbered by the cider and ale offerings! Funky music from the past in the background. A fun place to visit.

Delightful pub with an excellent beer and cider selection. Ciders are along the back of the bar (took me a moment to notice). We were here on Easter Monday afternoon and the staff were absolutely lovely. Atmosphere was friendly and the pork baps were delicious (amazing bread and filling). The pub is dog friendly and kindly offered a couple of pork scraps to the pup with us. Would definitely return here another time.
Ale, great selection of beer and cask ale. Cider, a wide variety of English ciders. Meat, pies, scotch eggs, and baps. Sometimes the pies are served a bit cold, but they're delicious. This place is practically my local even though I don't live that close.

everything any pub should be, playing vinyls, original interior with array of cider and beer options and of-course nosh to get you buying another pint. Pork, mustard and apple crusty roll. You’ll salivate as soon as you see it and be craving for more for the next month!
Stone cold classic London Boozer. 8 cask beers and at least the same smount of keg lines. Great beer, great background music, impressive pies and pork baps to die for. The only thing this pub lacks is pretentiousness.

A proper old school north London public house, no nonsense. Great choice of well-kept cask and kegged beers and ciders. A super pub that has not changed since my first visit some years ago.

Not many better pubs in London than Southampton Arms - great range of beers and ciders, good bar food and interesting architecturally plus a wonderful little fire if it's on. Staff are fine - young and cool and busy (it's a popular place) so not the time or inclination to be super friendly - it is London afterall so this is normal.
Simply one of the great pubs! If you love cask ales - this is a pilgrimage you need to make! Great beer, good service, good company and a feel of timelessness that is surprisingly comforting.
I was looking for a nice Ale for a long time, finally I made to the Southampton Arms and it didn't disappoint. We had great Ales and a fantastic, FANTASTIC, pork baps! The staff were super cool and friendly even though they were super busy that Saturday afternoon.
Outstanding pub for a real ale drinker, 14 hand pumps serving beer from across the country. Friendly & knowledgeable staff, happy punters. Nice little secluded patio garden at the back. Would definitely visit again!
Enjoyable few hours listening to someone play old tunes on the piano. Great choices of beer, both cask and keg. Well worth a visit.
What else can I say. Came to Southampton Arms all the way from Atlanta, GA because I heard their cask ale can bend space and time in the universe as we know it…and it did not disappoint. Major props go out to Mr. Jonny Garrett (who runs a very popular YouTube beer channel with a guy named Brad who wears flipflops) for inspiring me to explore beyond the “London lagers” and make your way to the huge gem of the craft beer society that we all know and love. Get some balls, buy an Oyster ticket and get off at Tufnell Park for a brisk 9 min walk into an establishment that will change the way you look at a real cask local. God save the cask.
Lovely beer garden. Lots of great choices on tap. Not usually around this area often but would come back in a heart beat.
We called in for lunch before heading on a cruise the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Good wholesome food.
On our return a week later we planned to pop in for coffee/ brunch but discovered they didn’t open till 12 noon we arrived at 10.30pm but still they served us tea and biscuits in the garden rather than turn us away. Highly recommend.
