Lovely spot tucked away in the area. The staff are polite and the food quick and tasty.

Limited selection of beers on tap, and the menu is limited, but has several lovely items.

I'd recommend the Mediterranean starter platter, and sweet potato fries.

The venue has an intermittent bustling night life, with quizzes and live bands, and so if you plan to have a quiet night or are looking for a more social vibe, you should just check to see what activities are on. Busy nights require bookings!

The Step is a community oasis in the middle of Myddleton Road. They do excellent food at good prices and have nice beers / wines. What brings it all together is the friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. They also put on lots of events (music / art/ comedy / quiz evenings etc) so there's always something going on. Great place.

The Step opened on Myddleton Road in Bowes Park just over two years ago, and has established itself as a popular venue for locals with its regular quiz nights and music events.

It's an informal, quirky place with a lovely beer garden out the back, where you can enjoy your drinks or food in the sunshine (when it happens!).

We've eaten there twice and both times have been impressed by the friendly service and great quality food. Breaded camembert is delicious for a starter, as is the potted ham hock.

For mains, the steak and sauteed potatoes with chimmi churri sauce have been excellent on both occasions, and last time I had a chicken and leek pie, which was perhaps ill-advised in the July heatwave, but it was impossible to resist.

Puddings include an exceptional brownie and cheesecake. All are made in-house.

Definitely worth making the trip to North London for, and even better if you are lucky enough to call it your local.

Nice place! Food is very tasty. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because they don't do swaps. My friend cannot eat wheat and they could not swap his bread for any other thing. Apart from that, I liked it very much.

I have visited The step twice and had 3 courses on the first visit and loved everything I had. On the second visit I had the steak which was just average, the peppercorn sauce tasted salty but the chips saved the dish. The service was good but no one came to ask us if we wanted dessert before the kitchen closed, so we went away a little disappointed. However, it's a cosy, tucked away, chilled spot to have great cocktails and some really good food. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

What a great little bar. Cosy and deeply rooted in the community - including the art work on the walls. And check out the tip collectors at the cashier ;-)

Absolutely amazing! The hostess is a beautiful human being and puts her heart into customer service, maybe she's the business owner, there were smiles all around not just from my friend David his wife Georgia and our group of friends but the birthday girl and all the other tables too. The band, The Squintet, were awesome and brought a warm, intimate vibe to the venue, if you're in N22, it's definitely a treat to come here. :)

Little gem on Middelton Road. I've been there few times and everything on the brunch menu is very good. I highly recommend the eggs benedict

Warm lively friendly atmosphere. Good food choice, cocktails too. We loved the classic gin martini served in the most elegant glass. Prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

A very nice local brunch spot. Had a lovely vegetarian hash with a fried egg. Delicious and a nice vegetarian option. There aren't many healthy options for breakfast but otherwise a good place for brunch. Nice ambience too. Would go again.

Got an old school, retro feel to it. The Curious Brew is a great beer too! There is a new chef in town which is great as they are starting to introduce more vegan items on the menu. I have the celeriac meal which was OK, not much flavour to it. I think this place would benefit much much more from adding a vegan burger to their menu.

The Step is a Gem of a local cafe serving delicious food for both Vegetarian and Carnivores. It's so welcoming one could easily while away a day here. Coffee is top notch as are the staff. You won't find a better brunch. Perfect for solo travellers as well as gatherings :)
