Came here for my sister's 40th birthday celebrations to sample the 'bottomless' brunch! Beautiful restaurant, loved the touch of having the pianist playing as you eat. The set menu was simple but with some excellent choices. I had the smoked salmon to start and burger for the main. Generous portions for both! The burger was cooked to perfection. The drinks really were bottomless! We had lots of Prosecco. I had a fab Bloody Mary too, and the raspberry bellinis were lovely. The staff were fantastic! Our waiter was attentive and certainly made sure all 13 of us were well taken care of. I would highly recommend this restaurant. At £40 a head for fabulous food & service, you can't fault it. :)

My son and I had brunch yesterday. The service was good. Our waiter was "on the ball"! The food was delicious and the piano player was fab! I live in Poole and there are no "bottomless brunches" down here! Hopefully they will soon catch on! Very enjoyable!

In recent years, Canary Wharf has come alive at weekends.  It now boasts a fabulous array of shops that can rival the West End, has two cinemas and an endless supply of restaurants and bars.  Obviously these are not as busy as they would be during the working week but as we approached One Canada Square for a Saturday brunch, we heard the place long before we saw it!

So technically this is not part 1, but to explain that I probably have to tell you how this blog came about, and where we got our name from. Around a year ago a group of friends with a mutual love of the unlimited decided that rather than plan infinity brunches around occasions as we had been doing we should make it a regular thing and so the boozy brunch bunch was formed. Many, many brunches later and there are still brunches in London left to try and so this group is still going strong. In fact some have been so good that we want to go back but just when we think we have gotten near the bottom of the list new places pop up.

Had a lovely meal there tonight. Booked a table, was served in friendly and polite way. Really enjoyed the main meals, the starter pumpkin special was inventive and tasty and then salty chocolate desert was divine if I am honest. Their Saturday night deal we noticed looks great so might be back.

One Canada Square is located in Canary Wharf, in the lobby of what use to be, until 2010, London’s tallest sky scraper, also named One Canada Square. Tom and Ed Martin of the award winning ETM group, who are also responsible for Botanist restaurant and bar in Sloane Square, opened One Canada Square in 2013. They also brought in former head chef of the Ivy, Jamie Dobbin to devise a menu of fine dining European cuisine.

We decided to venture here one Saturday night, knowing that it would probably be quiet. Once we arrived we sat at the bar and waited for friends to arrive. As we waited we couldn’t help but over hear loud screeching from a group of dolled up young ladies and I was bit apprehensive about how the night would turn out.

However, once I’d spied the menu that offered a three course meal and free flowing wine for just £55, I knew I would probably be joining them in a couple of hours. Unfortunately, they left before we sat down, but I quickly got over this once the menu was placed in front of me.

For starters I had the cured and smoked venison with spiced rhubarb and watercress. The meat itself was very tasty, but the sauce tasted a bit like tomato ketchup and a bit too sweet for me. The smoked haddock and leek soup with a salt cod scotch egg was extremely good. The soup was light and velvety and had a good depth of flavour. I was very jealous! Pan fried cod with clams, roast cauliflower, samphire and champagne sauce was my choice for mains. The cod was cooked to perfection and was a nice meaty piece of fish, the elements of the clams and samphire brought the dish together. There were some little yellow berries of some sort, I’m not sure what they were, but there were too many and too sweet. The slow braised pork belly with sweet potato, broccoli, pickled pear and a maple jus looked very appealing and tasted even better. The meat was very well cooked and salty pork belly was complimented well with the sweet potato.

A deconstructed rhubarb cheesecake and hazelnut crisp was a beautiful dessert. Flavours of sweet and sharp with each mouthful, but cleansing at the same time. A white chocolate and pistachio brownie with popcorn ice cream and hot chocolate sauce was an elegant looking plate of food. This was a great dessert and any pudding lover would enjoy this!

The waiting team were great and very efficient and extremely friendly. The art deco style of the restaurant makes for a good surrounding and with a pianist in the corner, makes it even more special. I’m just glad I didn’t get too drunk on the free flowing wine and act all Jessica Rabbit like, laying across the piano. I can imagine during the week it gets very busy by bankers and suit types, so I’d probably recommend going on a weekend and make full use of the £55 menu.

The place is a refined, spacious, and traditional European restaurant and cocktail bar. The David Collins Studio designed the place, and the kitchen is in charge of chef Jamie Dobbin

Anything sweet always catches my eye, and I got a little excited when I saw that One Canada Square was doing a special Ice Cream for Breakfast Day menu.
They were also doing their Bottomless Brunch Menu that day which obviously tempted the both of us to go for the two course option, hence enabling us to save space for dessert later on.
I don't usually drink much during the day, but it was a weekend after all...and I just could not resist having the raspberry bellinis.

For starters, we ordered the smoked salmon and the soft shell crab 'Benedict'. The smoked salmon was a nice, light option, although the blini were quite flat and not quite fluffy enough.
We both really liked the soft shell crab 'Benedict' which was light and crisp, and the egg had a lovely runny centre.

I ordered the steak tartare as my main, the portion slightly smaller than I was expecting, but nicely presented with lovely vibrant colours. I liked the texture of the meat which thankfully was not minced up too much or overly seasoned.
WK had the Dorset crab linguini which was also quite tasty.

The dessert selection from the brunch menu looked pretty decent, but I already had my eye on the Ice Cream for Breakfast Day menu...
We were surprisingly the first table to order from their Ice Cream menu - I would never pass on the chance to have ice cream at any time of the day...

Pan fried peanut butter and jam sandwich served with maple cured bacon ice cream - I loved the sound of every single ingredient... The bread was nice and crisp, and sandwiched between them were scrumptious layers of peanut butter and jam. And that bacon ice cream was just calling out to me...
The hot ricotta cakes were stacked up with pieces of bacon strips in between, and topped off with creamy blueberry ripple ice cream.

The food overall was tasty and good value for money as well, especially if you opt for the bottomless brunch. Service was also efficient, and they made sure that my bellini was always replenished...

There is also live piano music on Friday nights, and Saturday brunch and evenings, which is always a nice touch.
A place to consider if you're looking for brunch options, and I would recommend making a reservation as they do get booked up, especially on weekends.

The Vibe

At first look, this is just your typical loads-a-money Canary Wharf hangout frequented by bankers and their lady friends. In actual fact, on closer inspection, it’s an elegant venue for a date in Financier-ville that seems to hark back to those grandiose turn of the century railway station restaurants. There is a grandeur and style here that put me in mind of how it might have felt to dine at Grand Central Station in 1889 or in the Sirkeci restaurant in Istanbul’s main train station (final destination of the Orient Express) in 1905. It’s not what I expected to
find but the staff are warm and impeccable, the atmosphere is really relaxed, the bar is stocked and the menu is enticing with a hint of retro classic. Chateaubriand anyone? Game on.

The Order

Guys, I’m not going to lie to you. Put simply, the produce is of superlative quality and it’s beautifully cooked and presented. You will have a delicious meal here, there is no doubt about it. The meat is extraordinary and the fish hand selected daily at Billingsgate. Steak Tartare was the best my date had ever tasted, Soft Shell Crab was pure luxury and the Burnt Orange ice cream a delight. I hear they are even doing an all-day Saturday Bottomless Brunch. Get RIGHT in. Perfect for those not-too-sure-where-this-is-going brunch dates we sulkily pencil into our diaries and then end up enjoying immensely – said brunch turning into leery afternoon drinks which leads all sorts of adventures.

Add to this a sophisticated cocktail list and you are on to a serious winner; why not show off a bit and try the Sleeping Beauty (Sipsmith vodka, grapefruit, lemongrass, ginger, egg white, jasmine) or one of the signature G & T’s such as “Death’s Door” with cardamom and coriander. Raspberry Bellinis are a tad dangereux also.

The Game

The minute those cocktails start coming, you know you’re in trouble. Bachelors take note. The food will win you brownie points, there is a live pianist for on-tap romance moments and the cocktails are stunning AND lethal. What’s not to love? Answers on a postcard, please.

The Faults

Canary Wharf isn’t everyone’s favourite destination, I suppose, but at One Canada Square it doesn’t even matter as you are transported back to another place in time anyway. My advice: dress up, wait for him or her to arrive sitting at the bar whilst sipping on a tipple of your choosing and simply let the evening take you where it wants to go.

Sex Factor

3 – when that pianist gets going and the cocktails are slipping down the back of your neck, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Jamie Dobbin strides up to us like a forward about to launch a rugby ball into the line-out.

The chef seems too big to be weaving between tables at his stylish One Canada Square restaurant.

"How are you enjoying it," he asks leaning into the table.

"Just fine," I say, "It looks beautiful."

And it does. The food, full of colour and dainty turns, at times is like exquisitely carved flowers or an artist's palette with droplets of avocado mustard replacing the drip of oil paint.

Jamie's mop of ginger hair flashes against the dark green marble of the walls as he goes around the room glad-handing the faithful, today mostly City businessmen who have come for the £85 (rare breed) White Park rump that has just come in.

Rubbing shoulders with Tiffany's jewellers the restaurant, owned by Tom and Ed Martin, has transformed the formerly staid atmosphere of London's second highest tower.

Once an echoey and empty foyer with a ridiculously high ceiling it now reverberates to the regular clink of glasses and tinkling laughter.

The brothers, who also own The Jugged Hare at Barbican and The Botanist in Sloan Square, spent £2million on the Art Deco influenced fit-out, using the David Collins Studio - which has designed for a slew of top eateries, including Brasserie Zedel and The Wolseley.

The architects used the full height of the lobby to perch a mezzanine bar high above the ground floor restaurant and cafe/bar. It's reached by Escher-like twin staircases, which appear steeper than they are, while the kitchens and larder are hidden away below ground.

The Martins also brought in Dobbin, the Geordie former head chef at the Ivy Club, who has devised a reasonably sizeable menu given the quality of the cuisine.

Dishes such as the quail 'Kiev', Waldorf slaw or the pressed wild rabbit and smoked mallard with poached blackberries are typical of the exotic combinations that tempt - and they're just the starters.

The menu fashionably includes a raw section containing several dishes of cured fish, molluscs and steak tartare, and among the mains the steaks are dry aged for no less than 45 days.

With the proliferation of bankers in the area it was inevitable beef would feature strongly, but the menu's real success is its seafood dishes, making the most of its location a stone's throw from Billingsgate Fish Market.

With an old friend I tried a few of them out, starting with the yellowfin tartare with a spiced avocado black pepper dressing and the wild bass ceviche with mango, lime and chilli salt.

Both raw, the dishes looked almost too good to eat, but were just as tasty as they appeared. While not shy serves either they were the perfect light starter to a long lunch, one tart the other stickily sweet.

At this point we were still sipping one of the house bloody marys, a concoction using yellow tomato juice and Kamm & Sons ginseng aperitif, dubbed a Canary Mary and meant to stimulate the palate. It was thick and sweetly tangy, almost like knocking back a glass of thousand island dressing.

We needed something altogether more serious though and our waitress Csilla, after perusing the wine list on an iPad, recommended the Hunter's Sauvignon Blanc/Marlborough 2012, a not too light, ripely guava-scented Kiwi Sauvignon (Good stuff, I will be investing in a case of in the future).

Meanwhile, the roast Peterhead cod fillet with brown shrimp, vegetables and lemon vinaigrette main had arrived for my friend and the scallop and shrimp burger with kimchee and chips for me.

The first bite into the neatly sealed seafood pattie released all the juices, soaking through into the bun and filling my nostrils with an evocative burst of coastal flavours. Nicely contrasted with the sharp, spiciness of the kimchee you will find few burger experiences like it or as good.

The Peterhead cod got the thumbs up too and we moved on to dessert: Espresso and vanilla baked Alaska and Yorkshire rhubarb soufflé with gingerbread ice cream.

The bomb Alaska was a thing of teased beauty and the soufflé was delicious, but finished me off, and I barely made it through.

Thankfully the extremely well briefed Csilla, who has come all the way from Transylvania via Nottingham, made sure we accompanied this with some Hungarian dessert wine - Royal Tokaji, Late Harvest 2011, to help it on its way.

We rounded off lunch with coffee, just as the bar began to fill up with office workers finishing for the day.

For the standard of food the bill too wasn't over the top, coming to about £60 a head for a fairly indulgent and long engagement.

There has been no let-up in the footfall to One Canada Square since the restaurant opened just before Christmas and with a new Crossrail station and shopping precinct destined for just over the way within a few short years, the question really is who will be next to take up a position in this new high-end enclave at the base of the tower?

One Canada Square is part of Canary Wharf in London. It is a dynamic and iconic district that truly showcases the city's modernity and innovation. The architecture in this area is nothing short of impressive. The dominant feature is the ensemble of towering skyscrapers, each displaying its unique design and character. One of the standout buildings is One Canada Square, often referred to as the Canary Wharf Tower. With its sleek, pyramid-like shape, it was once the tallest building in the UK, offering breathtaking panoramic views of London from its observation deck. The building's stainless steel cladding and reflective glass facade add to its elegant appearance. Another noteworthy structure is the HSBC Tower, also known as 8 Canada Square. This building stands out with its distinctive trapezoidal shape, featuring a series of diamond-shaped facets that give it a striking visual appeal. The Citigroup Centre, or 25 Canada Square, showcases an innovative and eye-catching design with its curved glass exterior, resembling a modern take on the traditional corporate tower. Canary Wharf is also home to the Crossrail Place Roof Garden, a unique and sustainable structure with an impressive timber lattice roof, housing a lush garden that offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. Overall, the architecture in Canary Wharf represents a harmonious blend of futuristic and contemporary design. The district's buildings not only provide functional spaces for businesses but also contribute to London's ever-evolving skyline, making it a true architectural marvel worth exploring.

One Canada Square is a skyscraper in London's Canary Wharf. It is the third tallest structure in the UK. The views of the water and scenery from office windows are breath taking. Excellent dining and shopping options are close by in this very upscale area of London.

One Canada Square is a must-see for visitors to London. It is one of the UK's tallest building (235m) with stunning views from its observation deck. Visitors can also take a guided tour of the building, which includes a visit to the penthouse suite. I highly recommend visiting One Canada Square, especially if you are interested in architecture or business. The building is also a great place to take photos of the city skyline.

Beautiful place and really nice views Canary Wharf. It is placed the second tallest structure in in London. One Canada Square used to be the first one at the moment of open in 1991, but after the Shard open, become the second. The place is full with commercial center and on need, you can book a room for your business meetings or you can apply for a membership.

Very interesting and agitated area. A lot of business/office personnel around the area. There is a mall with a good variety of commercial options and food. The scenario of the park and the roof garden are amazing. In my opinion, this is a good spot to enjoy the chaos and the peace mixed out over here.
