My go to pizza place from now on! The tomato sauce is to die for and the wine ...oh the wine absolutely delicious
Amazing pizza with a good variety of beer and wine, really nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Will be back!
The vegetarian pizzas were delicious. Such yummy bases must be the sourdough bread. The staff were lovely and were very accommodating to my party (including a baby). The Lorena pizza was the favourite, lovely local beer, and the garlic bread was yummy! Well worth booking and try to get a spot in the outside part.
Sourdough Pizza is good quality healthy pizza. The fact that it takes so long to makes, makes you appreciate every bite even more. Sodo in Clapton (and also now in Walthamstow) specialises in this and has been doing so for many years. The process for Sourdough is about four to five days as yeast is not used and therefore you have to let the fermentation happen naturally. The urge is on London and the UK to eat more natural and healthy foods and Sodo is perfect for this. Thin and crispy bases are layered on top of the tomato base with good ingredients, such as Spinach, Pancetta and your usual favourites. No ham and pineapple.
After a 12 hr day and a quick post work drink, the last thing I wanted to do was leave my house and drive for half an hour in search of London's 'best' pizza.
Clapton sounded a million miles away and I was starving. However, I managed to, just about, keep the hangry grump side in (not sure Hayley would agree) and off we went in search of the mythical 'Sodo'
Preamble done, we found a very inviting looking restaurant and were quickly greeted and offered a table in the mezzanine garden out back. The menu was simple and appealing just what we wanted and a Burratino was ordered along with my favourite meal-time beer Gamma Ray and a glass of Prosecco for Hayley. We also ordered the meat platter.
Both came out within minutes and both were equally delicious, I am a fan or mozzarella in everything but mozzarella filled with cream was not something I had tried before and it was wonderful. The meat was delicious and a nice smallish plate so we were not overfull when the pizza arrived.
Our pizzas came next and didn't disappoint. Thin flavoursome crisp bases with perfectly loaded flavours on top. Not heavy greasy tomato sauce just a light coating covered with sliced meats. We also ordered another Burratino and spread it over the top, you can never have enough cheese right? Also highly advice using some of the home made chilli oil.
Our eyes began to catch up with our stomachs and we just managed to finish off our delicious pizzas. Then for dessert we had a Clementine Pannacotta which was a fantastic way to finish our meal.
One of the owners Enzo came over and introduced himself and told us a little about the restaurant and we did our best to convince him that what he really needed to do was open up a new branch in East Finchley!
We followed desert with Peppermint tea and a Fireball Whiskey.
Boy am I glad I let myself be dragged out the house! And now will attempt to rid myself of tired grump tendencies and follow Hayley wherever her excellent food knowledge takes us.
A perfect evening.
We went to the Clapton ‘pizza cafe’ on a Saturday night earlier this year and it was packed – you’ll need to reserve a table. It’s only a small place, squeezing in about 25 people at an array of high tables, small tables and counters. The service is lovely and so is the home-made ginger beer! They also offer wine from Borough Wines and local Hackney beers from Beavertown, the Kernel and the London Fields Brewery. So a few weeks ago we tried the Hoxton version. This is housed within the George and Vulture - a big Victorian boozer on the edge of Shoreditch. They offer a good range of real ales on the pumps and a wine list from £15. The menu is short and very reasonably priced especially considering the authentic Italian or locally sourced ingredients that they’re using. In Clapton, but unfortunately not ava
The plentiful covering of tomato sauce was rich-roasted and sweet and high quality mozzarella was scattered lightly, so the pizza didn’t become overly rich.
Great pizzas, great service, friendly staff, value for money
Have been going here since they opened last year, and have never been disappointed. Great pizzas, friendly staff, cannot fault it
Location very cozy, the waiter Andrea was professional and friendly. We order some antipasti, ok. The pizza is the best plate they offer, excellent. We tried a dessert, I didn't like the tiramisu, brownie excellent. I advise to order pizza and brownie because I think are the best plates in this place. Anyway good atmosphere good cocktail, everything great.
Top boy was by far our favorite! Loved it so much we went again a few days later. Truly delicious. Lorena was also good, my friends loved it!
Tiramisu was ok, and we tried antipasto I think which was good!
Good prices and amazing food
Had a great meal here on a Saturday early evening. Friendly and accommodating staff. Really tasty pizzas, good balance across the ingredients. I appreciated that they let me know they do a kid size pizza - it was the perfect size for me three-year-old. Pleasant ambiance. Good value. Will definitely return soon!
Absolutely delicious pizza, great beer and a good atmosphere, on top of some great artwork.
I visited over the weekend where temps were 32° and it was a little toasty in the restaurant but staff were excellent bringing plenty of water and the food was brilliant. We'll definitely be back again when we're in the area.
Sodo pizza does one of the best pizzas I’ve eaten! Really thin base with a very generous amount of cheese and very fresh and tasty ingredients - it’s just delicious! I’m not even a fan of blue cheese and I couldn’t stop eating their blue cheese & asparagus pizza. So, so good! Plus, the staff is really friendly, the atmosphere is great both for a date night or an outing with friends. Easily the best restaurant in north Clapton and one of the best pizzarias I’ve tried in London.
Great place for a family of 5 on a Saturday night in London. For starters we shared a couple of cheesy garlic breads, pickled cucumber slices with harissa, tahini and olive oil and olives. The cucumbers were delish! Pizzas were top notch too. Margaritas, pepperoni, squash and feta and a special with fresh tomatoes and pancetta. Prices around the £13 mark. We loved the sourdough bases and all the fresh ingredients. We went in around 9ish and although the rear exterior part was full there was still plenty of room inside and a lovely laid back ambience. It was great to see a selection of locally brewed beer, I had the Mammoth (Hackney based brewery). I must say that our service was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome and the menu was fully explained by our attentive server. Overall... excellent food, lovely gem of a place and very friendly staff
The wickerman is the best pizza in the world ever. Fact.
I've been going here for 6+ years. It's the bes, as are the gorgeous staff.
My favourite pizza place in London, the wickerman pizza is amazing every single time I get it. I've been to SoDo at Clapton, Walthamstow and Deptford and they all hit the pizza just right - however the Clapton branch has the cutest and nicest interior and feels cozy and snug. Love coming here, nice options for drinks with some orange wine and also the tiramisu dessert is always welcome.
I have been recently to Sodo Pizza. I can't give more than 5 stars just because, it is the maximum rank.
The pizza was amazing and I had pizza with ragù (bolognese). Very tasty pizza and also fresh ingredients. As well I had very good starters: garlic bread with mozzarella and burrata. Tiramisù was great.
Highy reccomended, a really Italian place in Hackney.
What a place to grab a pizza. Really good tasting food with the absolute best ingredients. The staff were amazing and the atmosphere very chill and welcoming for sitting in for either food or just a drink. If we're ever in the area again, will 100% be going back, thanks so much.
