Great food! Burger lovely, Cajun fries were far hotter than I expected but delicious regardless. Drank draft ales, all lovely. Bar tender picked up on my beer preferences and even recommended an alternative to try. Great service, glad to have been recommended here by colleagues!

Amazing! The staff were really friendly, we were seated out the back area - which actually felt more relaxed and quieter than the bar area. Walked in at 7 and was able I get a table no problem- she told as it would have to be back by 8.30 but the food was so quick, that wasn't an issue. Our server was uber friendly and advised suggestions - and even let us taste the beer before we ordered. Chilli cheese fries were imense!

I came for the meat and stayed for the mushroom burger, which was actually quite delicious and a good size for me. If you love your dirty burgers and loaded fries, this is the place to come to. The interior is interesting, sort of like a dungeon-meets-chapel vibe.

The servings are very generous and if you're feeling hungrier than usual you can partake in one of their ridiculous eating challenges.

- loaded fries we're generous and satisfying
- monkey fingers (chicken strips) were nicely coated with a hot and sour sauce
- halloumi and mushroom burger was quite salty, but as expected because of the halloumi
- fried pickles were unfortunately disappointing. Pickles were wafer thin so it pretty much became bits of batter with blue cheese sauce.
- chicken and beef triple burgers looked massive and juicy

Overall, a great place to fulfil your American burger dream.

MEATmission has to be one of the best hamburger places in London I have been to. I arrived before my friends (something that happens every blue moon) and ordered a buffalo sauce fries with blue cheese. Very nice fries, although I don't care for that cheese. The sauce is not very spicy but has a nice flavour (I tried some hot sauces in the USA that were all heat and no taste). I had a Dead hippy burger (a double paty cheeseburger) and ended up eaten half of my wife's chicken bacon burger. Both really good although the chicken one was better. It was well cooked, meat wasnt dry and the bacon was crispy without feeling greasy. We shared a portion of regular chips as well as some Cajun ones. My recommendation is to go for the flavoured options, as the chips alone lack some charm. The fact I enjoy the Cajun spices might help me think that. To wash it down I had the Bristol brewed Moor beer, a very enjoyable one. Not bitter, but a smooth yet decided twang to it. So bottom line: pay them a visit to try them out. Of the million burger places, MEATmission offers a good alternative.

Very good burgers! Both chicken or beef options. They also have good beers on tap (which is not that common in this type of burger places). Sides are good too (fries and hash browns) but don't recommend the cheesy fries. Good value for money and nice atmosphere!

What a nonsense place (in a positive way) with extraordinary food. The burguers are awasome and there's some veggie things as well. The sound is a bit too loud so if you want to have quiet conversations is not the best place but for dinner with friends is a nice place.

Twin brother of MEATliquor; nice burgers, cool atmosphere, OK service. No complaints here. Consistently delivers good burgers.
Tried the fried Mac and cheese but it wasn't my "thing". Basically old, dried up pasta, bread crumb coated and deep fried.

A burger join with a pretty cool interior and photo booth! Sadly the photo booth wasn't working when I went. The food was good, pretty filling for what you get. I had the spicy chicken burger and shared the fries with my other half since they were big!

The only downside of the place was that it felt a bit understaffed at times when you wanted a waiter and the food is a tad pricey. (Burger I had is now £8.75, was shown as £8.50 on this app. This does not include fries!)

ā€œInstead, there is gaiety and gladness, Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, Eating of meat and drinking of wineā€Ā (Isaiah 22:12-13). MEATmission, the burger joint now occupying what used to be a Christian church, certainly offered plenty of gaiety and even more meat, in all forms and shapes. Yet, among the insane number of burger places that are now gracing London’s territory, how well does it actually rank?

Tucked around the back of one of London's Ā busiest squares on a Saturday night, is MeatMISSION. It's not difficult to find... just put your nose in the air and you'll be led towards the mouth watering smell of burgers frying. As I turned into Hoxton Market I saw a group of people crowded around a doorway lit up by a neon sign saying MISSION. They were queuing but thankfully, I was not! Phoning up just a few hours earlier we had managed to book a table for 7.30 on a Saturday. I assumed they must have had a cancellation as it's notoriously difficult to get a table at.

Always a good, casual, fun night at Meatmission. Dirty chicken burger is the bomb. Monkey fingers are average. Buffalo anything here is a tad too sour (?). Cocktails are overpriced but you can have a decent night out for £20.

I visitied this place a couple of weeks ago. It is quite dark when you walk in and also quite loud but the atmosphere works once you get used to it.

After working out how to order a beer (you can order two thirds of a pint, two or three pints that come in a classic style jug) we ordered a 'Dead hippy' and a green chilli cheeseburger with a side of chilli fries.Ā

When it arrived it was all served on one tray which is great for those, like me, who like to try a bit of everything and the chilli fries were in a big bowl in the middle.

The dead hippy was amazing, with a strong mustard flavour that worked great. The green chilli cheese burger was really spicy and great too. The chilli fries somehow managed to steal the show. They were pretty much a meal on there own and the chilli was fantastic. I would definitely recommend getting these on the side with any order.Ā

It's a great place for a casual meal in the centre of Hoxton. i would recommend the dead hippy burger and chilli fries.

...once the burgers did come they were really excellent. Perhaps ever so slightly overcooked, they were in my case made special by the ladleful of sloppy chilli con carne on top, which wasn't just a damned good chilli in its own right, it did an admirable job of staying in the bun while I mauled it.

The music was too loud - when Metallica invades your personal space to such an extent that you feel you are sitting inside one of Lars Ulrich's bass drums, something is wrong. The service brusque. And worst of all, the food was a major let down. Overcooked burgers and a terrible Philly cheese steak roll. This was not the #MeatEasy I had fallen for.

The burgers are high-end slop, the crowd is young and loud, and you have that occasional reward of no-reservations; they thoroughly approve of people lingering to get drunk. It's a go hard or go home sort of place and you’ll already know if you’ll like it or not. I do profusely, and Monkey Fingers are worth crossing town for, but MEATliquor pips it, primarily for being more spacious and a lot more fun.

The new thing we really wanted to sample was the Peckham Dip: roast beef and fried onions in a roll, served with a pot of bone marrow gravy and horseradish cream (on the side). This was brilliant. It would have worked well as a beef roll in its own right but dip it into the bone marrow gravy and it transforms into something spectacular, umami squared.

Point to note: Hoxton Market (where MEATmission is located) isn't Hoxton Street Market. It's a good 15min walk between the two. Neither is it Hoxton Square, which is probably the one of the most happening parts of Hoxton. Look out for the red neon signboard that says "MISSION". Knowing that would save you going on an exploratory trip around Hoxton while on a bid to satisfy your meat cravings. MEATmission is the third branch of the MEAT chain (after MEATliqour and MEATmarket). Taking its name from the former Christian mission that it occupies, there is obvious effort to preserve as much of the original interiors as possible. For one, the tablets are still in place on the walls. Fancy having a burger with decade

The Meatwagon started it all off, then MeatEasy kicked it up into the stratosphere. I can hardly believe the date on my post about the place was only 12th January 2011 - so much has happened since then to Yianni and Scott and their merry band of burgerettes it feels like those boozy, grease-stained nights in New Cross happened a lifetime ago - but it was at MeatEasy that the gamble paid off, that London finally fell for the charms of the Dead Hippie and Chilli Cheese Fries and Bingo Wings, and the template was set. Granted, MeatLiquor doesn't require the same kind of effort to get to as SE14, but it is hardly conspicuous with its anonymous frontage, tinted windows and position under an ugly car park tucked around the back of Debenhams. If it wasn't for the queues that regularly trail up Wellbeck St, in fact, you'd assume it was either abandoned, or a strip club, or both. For one of London's most popular restaurants, it's trying very hard not to be noticed - which of course is all part

It doesn't happen often that I eat until I could burst. Yet that's exactly what I found myself doing at MEATmission on Monday evening. Each bite was so delectable that I couldn't stop myself. As I picked up the final piece of burger my brain cried out to me "Why are you doing this?" and my stomach replied "Because it's so damn delicious".

Thanks to it being a Monday evening (around 7pm) we were sat straight away. The service was friendly and quick. They had run out of root beer floats but the waitress kindly offered to make me a float from one of their other soft drinks instead. When the food and drinks arrived we were unsure of where to begin. My bacon cheeseburger was cooked perfectly pink, and each bite just melted in my mouth. The combination of juicy burger patty and crispy bacon (covered in cheese) makes for one of the best burgers in London. The chilli cheese fries were ridiculously spicy, but worth burning my tongue for. However it was the deep-fried pickles (equal parts crispy and greasy) with blue cheese dip that won my heart. Ā

Apart from the venue being slightly dark (as my grainy iPhone 5s photos prove), I have nothing bad to say about MEATmission - I'll definitely be back!

Where can I take half a dozen blokes hanging from a night at SW4 festival, who are staying east and have a love of burgers & wings? That’d be Meat Mission then.

I’m not blowing my own trumpet – but I literally saved the day booking us in here. The menu reads like a man’s meaty sweet shop and got the birthday boy very excited indeed; the look on J’s face was one I’d imagine has been seen by two, possibly even three girls before.

It’s a delightfully hands on affair here. Everything comes delivered to you unplated on a tray, which means free-for-all tactics are abundant in a testosterone-heavy crowd. Generally the place is set up for groups – licking hot sauce off each other’s fingers isn’t the most erotic accompaniment to a date (unless that’s your bag.)

Burgers are big, meaty and packed with toppings and flavour. My Dead Hippy – two patties, dead hippy sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions – was a sensation, as close to perfection as I’ve reached on these shores. The patties were juicy and well seasoned, whilst the sauce brings all the toppings together in a big beautiful dripping mess. It’s a filthy slut of a burger, and I’m enamoured with it.

J’s bacon cheeseburger received similar acclaim, the bacon served crispy but not overcooked. Conversely, no-one was going near the currywurst, including D. who ordered it. Sausage pieces covered in curry sauce on a bed of fries, it looked like a Fresher’s end of semester meal using whatever’s left in the flat. It didn’t taste much better.

German muck aside, other ā€˜bits n pieces’ could not have gone down better. Bingo wings and monkey fingers (battered chicken strips) are drenched in a luminous orange, delicious tangy hot sauce, with a blue cheese dip full of lovely big chunks. Digits and gobs are a similar shade of radioactive waste afterwards.

Meat Mission is a place for boys – or perhaps that should be anyone who is happy to pile in and get greasy chops. As the name suggests there are challenges, triple chicken and chilli respectively, for those of you with a love of heart attacks and leader board glory. It’s got to be one of the best spots around for good, dirty but brilliant junk food. As a big boy hangout I’m starting a campaign for the Meat Mission Happy Meal – a Dead Hippy, monkey fingers and a pint of Vedett, with choice of Swiss Army knife, bottle opener or porn mag for a toy.

Part of the ever growing MEAT family, MEATmission is every bit as good as its older siblings, providing divinely greasy and tender burgers and wings. The wings are an essential, but you can't do much wrong when ordering a burger.

The food is reasonably priced and the service adds to the great atmosphere and almost church like dƩcor. The only real fault to be found with MEATmission is the price of their alcohol, which doesn't seem to correlate to the fair pricing of their food.

Always a party in here, really vibrant with a live radio station running in the booth above you. Cocktails are great and the food is sinfully tasty. Everything on the menu oozes flavour and smells delicious, ideal place to take a bunch of friends for a feast. The drinks are good too - only problem being that due to it being constantly busy it can be hard to get decent service. However when you do have the staff's attention they are often helpful and friendly

Searching for a burger place in town, that promises more than ā€œgourmetā€ offers- I stumbled into MeatMisson, the latest addition to MEAT family. Located in Hoxton, inhabiting a Victorian Christian mission building, the dark aura of the interiors is nothing like your ordinary hipster burger joint.

Though the first few bites are dreamy, I would not set the burgers at the top of my list. Still, they are a better love story than Twilight. Note that the dirty chicken burger would be a better adventure than the classic burger.Ā

The menu is crowned with chili cheesy fries, a ā€œsinfulā€ alternative, fries in melted cheddar, chilli beef mince, jalapenos and onions painted with mustard. Beware if you are just a social chili eater, as the plate may tempt you but you might suffer heartburns afterwards. The messy rituals of MeatMission are for the meat fans, with spiritual and physical commitment to the tasks required! Ā The Triple Chili Challenge is such an act, to be performed by a group of friends on a Friday, to be continued with other challenges throughout the night. Ā You are on for a chilli dog, chilli fries, and a burger. Ā If you eat it in less then 10 minutes, it is a free offering. Did not appeal to me as I am rather a lover of slow food, even on meat and chili.

Burgers are priced around Ā£7 to Ā£8, and the chili fries are for Ā£7, so the trip will not get your wallet nervous.Ā I also do have the occasional habit of enjoying a venue concept, MeatMission does not disappoint in this respect. The bloody mission is integrally well executed around the feel of the food, the table, the stoned wall, and the lingo of the service – not just a cliche slogan thrown around in flyers and stickers. Ā

The venue can be quite crowded at times, not to be squeezed in between long benches or select a space-for-2, booking in advance would help a great deal.

P.S. If you are into customizing your experience further, try Secret DJ app 

Under the same umbrella as the MEATliquor, MEATmarket, MEATwagon and CHICKENliquor outlets, it would be no surprise to anyone if MEATmission was yet another slapstick, sloppy slime-fest of a restaurant whose revenues can be largely attributed to the marketing prowess of its forefathers, rather than the experience it provides for its customers. This, however, as i found out at a pre-friday-night out dinner for ten, is a misconception. MEATmission is every bit as good as MEATliquor if not better. It is certainly more balanced; not a 'put your head down and eat' kind of place which, given its incredibly low lighting and loud music, the latter could be accused of being. Rather, it is vibrant and sociable, serving as the ideal spot for friends to gather before sloping off to one of Hoxton/Shoreditch's many bars and clubs (our group of ten was replaced by a group of sixteen). If you're looking for a good chat in a quiet, low-stress endroit therefore, MEATmission may not be for you.

A stone's throw away from Old Street Station, the entrance to MEATmission is easily distinguished - you could be forgiven for thinking you are entering a coffee house in Amsterdam, given the vibrant, red neon light sign above the door. The interior is equally jazzy - an illuminated, gothic illustration has kidnapped the ceiling, for example. Despite being able to reserve a table online for ten a few days before, the restaurant was packed to the rafters. As an early arriver at the restaurant, I ordered 3L jugs of Budvar beer, which a few of my friends and I sipped on until the rest of the party arrived.

When the group was finally complete, the ten-person order seemed no trouble at all for the brilliant staff, who successfully brought out the whole feast from the kitchen on enormous, metallic trays within an impressive twenty five minutes, before keeping the beer that we demanded flowing into our glasses. The trays were a nice touch, though a little annoying from the perspective of not being able to face the person sitting opposite you because your plate was slightly to your right. We manged on Chilli Cheese Fries, regular Fries, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Monkey Fingers, and a Bloomin Onion Flower to start. The fries were unspectacular, but the Chicken dishes were both great- in particular, the monkey fingers, which were coated in a superb and more-ish sauce. The impressively decorative onion flower (a whole onion deep-fried) was bizarre but superb, but a bit picky without a knife and fork. For mains, I duly followed the waiter's recommendation; MEATmission's signature burger, the morbidly named 'Dead Hippie'. The two mustard-fried beef patties enclosed were expertly cooked; the burger as a whole, just right.

For £23 a head, the meal was excellent value for money, especially in the party-atmosphere in which we sat which perfectly set up the remainder of the evening.

First and foremost, let me start by apologising the photos. Not my best work and they absolutely do not give this establishment the credit it deserves! So with that out of the way...

From the same people who bought us Meat Liquor and Meat Market, Meat Mission takes the same formula and applies it to great effect - great food + awesome drinks = good times. The added bonus of Meat Mission is that you can book. RESULT!

The food is American inspired with burgers being the focal point though for those out there who are not that way inclined (you weirdo), there are alternatives which cater to you. My personal favourite here is the green chilli cheeseburger which is magical and packs a punch though it's always hard to pass up the iconic and signature Dead Hippie.

Speaking of things you can't pass up, don't stop at mains because the sides are just as much the highlight. The Monkey Fingers are pure battered-chicken-fillets-in-buffalo-sauce goodness and are almost the first thing I order when I sit down. Like chips? Got the extra mile and get the Hippie Chips - you won't regret it!

All up Meat Mission offers you a fantastic night out which doesn't break the bank. I guess if there was a downside it is that it is incredibly popular so turnover is extremely tight. If you want to sit down for a conversation after a meal, you'll have to visit one of the nearby bars but being in one of the trendiest parts of London, you won't be short of choice.

For those of you brave enough, have a go at the infamous Triple Chill Challenge where you attempt to consume the Green Chilli Cheeseburger, a Chilli Dog and a plate of Chilli Fries in less than 10 mins. Do it and you have the meal on the house and admiration from all those that bared witness to your feat. Fail and you give up your cash and dignity. Simple right? I can tell you from experience, this challenge should NOT be taken lightly and preparation is not only recommended, it is required.

ENJOY!

I’ve been to a few of MEAT branches. This time I accompanied the boys for their triple chilli challenge, at the Old street branch. The Old Street branch is a bit confusing to get to. Google maps led me to a bright red neon sign with ā€œMeatā€ and a red arrow direction. MEATmisson is a converted old church. It bears similar themes to the other branches.

I sat in the dark waiting for the boys to arrive. There was no way I would take up another ā€œman vs foodā€ challenge. I just got myself a simple dirty chicken burger & chilli fries to share.

Whilst one of my friends went and done the ā€œtriple chilli challengeā€. There are 3 things you need to eat, a chilli dog, chilli fries, and a burger. A set time limited is needed to complete the challenge. Eat it in less then 10 minutes, and it is FREE to you!

It was a race against time, in nail biting environment the pressure was on. My friend Simon managed to do it within 7 minutes. Well done! Earning a place on the top 20 board.

The same theme carries through from Meat Liquor - dark and dingy interiors, paper towels for plates, surprisingly good cocktails, and grease filled and delicious burgers and wings. They're lacking a dessert menu though, the only thing on offer is a peanut butter sundae. Hippie fries were rubbish. Service was weak. Music is good, and this place has good atmosphere. Go here if you have a hangover and you want to wreck your diet.

For one of London's most popular restaurants, it's trying very hard not to be noticed - which of course is all part of the game. MeatEasy proved that having a bit of swagger, treating customers if not badly then certainly with irreverence, making them work just that little bit harder for their dinner, all these things helped create that aura of a place confident of its own importance and confidence in their ability to show you a good time. You may not like it, but by God it works, and no matter how many people grumble about it you can guarantee they'll be joining the back of that queue eventually.

MeatMission, then, arrives at a time when London pretty much knows what to expect from a Meat[wagon] restaurant. We know we won't be able to book a table (sort of - groups of 6 can book at certain times); we know pretty young waitresses will serve expertly-constructed US-inspired comfort food alongside punchy cocktails; we know there will be loud rock music and tinted windows and paper towels on every table. We know we will probably have to queue. None of these things will be a surprise. And yet MeatMission is a surprise, thanks partly to an expanded menu featuring an appearance of one of the best things I've had the pleasure of eating in a very long time, and an interior design that is genuinely impressive without resorting to any dive bar clichƩs.

If you're lucky enough to bag yourself a spot in one of the raised booths on the edge of the large dining room, you will have a commanding view not only of the incredible stained glass ceiling above but the rows of diners in the "bear pit" beneath. Original stone plaques of religious texts (this is a former Christian mission - hence the name) are sensitively restored in situ, and next door a slightly smaller room is decorated with more urban art, this time illuminated glass panels of strange hybrid creatures. I was never really a fan of the aggressive graffiti at MeatLiquor but here it's all a lot more easy and stylish, though I can't help feeling having the toilets downstairs and not at the top of the frightening spiral staircase overlooking the main atrium is a missed opportunity. I'd love to see people negotiating that after a few Peckham Negronis.

And the food. All the classics are here, and are better than ever - particularly the bacon cheeseburger which had a very generous layer of that crispy pressed bacon arrangement last night. Fries, too, seem to have overcome early inconsistencies at MeatLiquor to become some of the best of their kind in the city; just as well when they find their way into so many of the dishes in the 'Onna Plate' section of the menu. The £9 'Chilli Garbage Plate', I'm fairly sure, could feed six people.

But the star of the new dishes is something called Monkey Fingers. Battered, deep-fried strips of tender chicken soaked in buffalo sauce and served with a blue cheese dip, they are every bit as addictive as the classic MeatLiquor Bingo Wings but the lack of a bone to contend with means they are better value, and even more filthy fun to eat. One of my strongest memories of the launch night (although that's not saying much, given the amount of booze they were chucking at us) was waitresses carrying around canapƩ trays loaded with Currywurst and Greek Salad skewers and a sad patch of orange sauce where the Monkey Fingers used to be. They are my new obsession, and are only available in Shoreditch.

The booze menu is a riot as well. The Pinot Grinchio is a cocktail made with white wine, apple juice and God knows what else, served with an edible candy cane for extra seasonal jollity. An impressive rack of beer taps at the back of the bar serve a determinedly non-craft selection of decent ales, and there's a wonderfully profane wine list if you want to go down that route. No element of food or drink or service is over-thought or intrusively "cool", but the attitude is infectious - fun without being gimmicky, relaxed without being slapdash, with confidence just the right side of arrogance.

So yes, I liked it. And, I'm certain, so will you. After all the wannabes, proto-chains and imitators to follow in their wake, and God knows there's been enough of them, there still is nowhere that does this kind of thing better.

Kuba made our experience 5 star. Kuba is GENUINE customer service. Honestly took care of each demand...given we were dining with 3 boys aged 7,7,10 & each having bespoke "requests". Even at the end Kuba grabbed us takeaway boxes and helped me take my condiments (Hippie sauce is life !) And I'd have been embarrassed but he kindly told us "the sauce pots have lids. Shall I get them if you want to take them with you" - that's the difference between good and the best customer service.

Great atmosphere. Burger was stacked neatly. Wasn't messy or greasy like some other places... i.e. you can pick the burger up and it doesnt fall apart or have that sogginess seep through the bun

Ahhh man I love this place! I love the fact that a burger place can offer me a low carb option by replacing the bun " rabbit style " with a lettuce wrap! also the monkey fingers and fried pickles are scrumptious....and the fact that they floats ( ice cream with your drink) is a big plus for those of us who don't wanna watch there waist line, only thing that isn't appealing is there desserts....never see anyone getting these as they are just not appealing!

We discovered this place by a recommendation from our Uber driver in our vacation at the end of may and I gotta say, it was awesome. Because of you, we were the worst culinary tourists you could ever imagine, we went there 3 times at our 6 day stay in London since it wasn't far from our appartement. The Dead Hippie Burger is just the best burger I've ever eaten, the sides are really tasty, the onion rings are thick and flavorful, If I come back to London, I'll definately bring some other friends to enjoy the food. Staff was also amazing, had a lot of fun there. Atmosphere is unique and special, I really liked the vibe. See you at our next visit. BR, the weird Austrians who drank a lot of Stiegl and Stiegl Radler.

Would 100% recommend you give this place a visit, you won’t be disappointed. Great decor and atmosphere! But what stood out the most was the friendly service, it was 10/10. The burgers were delicious, well seasoned and juicy - just what you want from a top burger restaurant! Already planning when I’ll be coming back!
