Absolutely delightful spot, with kind staff and delicious food. I had the tabbouleh and falafel, washed down with Lebanese beer. Can't wait to go back!

The only Palestinian restaurant in London! Pleased to find it as one of my friends Mohamed El Gharably is a Palestinian. The restaurant is beautiful, small and truly imbibes the spirit of Palestine through its ambiance. It is a family run restaurant and you can see a very senior lady in control of the kitchen just like grandma cooking in the kitchen. Service is moderate, there is no external staff and the couple who run the restaurant deal with everything. There is a sharing platter which is really big and great if you are a group of 8-9. It's not on the menu so ask them about it. Everything we ordered was just great, comforting and flavourful. My favourite would be the musakhan. They even have Palestinian beer and wine(only if the stock arrives), again ask them about that. Amazing place great food.. Definitely looking forward to another visit.
Amazing! The place is very nice and cosy. The service is good and quick. The food is amazing and authentic!! My friend lived in Palestine and said that the food was as good as it was over there. I really like the homie feeling
Have you ever eaten Palestinian? I haven’t. I’ve had Peruvian, Congolese, Ukrainian, Syrian, Berber, Fijian, Icelandic, Armenian, you name it. I even once enjoyed Icelandic Turkish fusion, but Palestinian, never. It seems I’m behind the times though, even our Conservative Prime Minister, David Cameron and his wife Samantha (she of the Smythson bags) are, so I’m informed, aficionados. Well, Dave, I’m sorry but the secret’s out!
Have been going for years and a really good place to get good quality Palestinian food. Anything on the menu is not a let down. Absolutely love this place!

I’ve visited Maramia on several occasions and the food draws me back every time. I’ve tried many of the choices on the menu now and I have never had a disappointing meal there. The quality has always been of the same high standard. It’s busy on a Saturday when Portobello market is on, but on a weekday is slightly quieter, although retains a great atmosphere.
I would recommend the Palestinian breakfast if you’ve never been before as it’s a fantastic introduction to what the place has to offer - a selection of houmous, baba ghanoush, shak shuka (eggs poached in spicy tomato sauce), falafel, tabbouleh, pickles and more - and for under £10 is much better value than you would get in most of central London. The chicken and rice is another great dish and the portions are plentiful - you could split the two with a friend and still have some left to take home.
There are no alcoholic drinks served at Maramia, but there are a selection of soft drinks and fresh juices - try the fresh apple juice - it’s made to order.
The service is friendly and welcoming and although sometimes slow, when the food arrives it is always worth the wait. The owners have some hilarious stories to tell and if the restaurant is quiet will sit down with you and tell you all sorts of tales. I’ve been here with family and friends and both have been impressed with the experience. There's beautiful mirrors hanging on the wall and gentle Arabic music in the background. I'm also now studying Arabic at university, and the staff are patient when my friends and I have tried to practice ordering in Arabic, and bring us newspapers to read while we wait.
I could only fault Maramia on the speed of its service, but considering the restaurant is so busy, and when it is not the staff are very attentive, I don't think it's a problem that would deter me from going back. The food is cheap and cheerful and delicious.

Maramia seems to be grabbing a lot of mindshare lately. It's the place to go for authentic Palestinian food, and if not that then for the meat at least. They cater for large parties and are said to be relatively well priced.
Personally I found it to be a bit of a let down. Yes it is cosy: they hosted around 20 of us last night and although we were seated on a long straight table, the layout of the place is such that it's easy to move around and switch crowds. The service is pretty incredible, although something that becomes more of a necessity than favour once the food comes: although the starter of our set meal was buffet the main, a whole lamb roast in rice, pretty much needed someone to carve it for us.
I'm not a big meat eater myself. Well technically I just don't like meat off the bone let along a carcass, so I didn't really see past the initial gimmick of the way the food was presented to us. It was okay but hardly one of the best meals I've had, although the savoury meat pastries were all kinds of awesome. Thinking back I would have been happier just sticking to that.
The biggest disappointment was the price, the whole thing coming to fifteen per head for the starters, main and a soft drink. This is brilliant value for those with big appetites (there was plenty of food left) but for someone who eats a normal amount it's difficult to justify the price.
So I guess I'm one of the few (the only?) who hasn't become an instant fan of the place. That said, as a place to party it's a pretty good place to hang out.
This was such a nice place to visit for a date.
It has cosy lighting and the food is soooo good. Really rich and tasty. Staff were really nice too.
Food is halal, although they do serve alcohol.
I enjoyed everything I ate, even the salad! The sausages were the best I've had.
The Muskhan was in a wrap, which isn't what I was expecting, but it was tasty nonetheless. There are things you can order in advance if you have 5 or more people like maqluba.
I recommend visiting for good food, vibes and service.
Thing to note, entrance is slippery in the rain, its at a slope, be careful in heels, I slipped!
I LOVE this place. It is an understatement of the quality of food and taste. It has been around for 20 years and I have discovered it far too late.
I took my family and their partners here last week. They have already made plans to go again on their own but also in bigger groups.
I thought the yellow sauce that came with the mains was mayo. It’s not. It’s yoghurt 😋❤️

We’ve visited Maramia many times over the last few years and the food is consistently good. Favorite Palestinian restaurant in the area. Highly recommended for the meal and the atmosphere. Also, it’s a local spot which has been around for a long time and for good reason. If you are reading this and considering going, do it.
We could not find a place to eat on a late Friday after 7pm. The restaurant was full. Bit they were very nice and made some space for the two of us in the outside terrace.
The food was amazing. The biggest surprise was when we finished. Every single person from the restaurant inside were dancing to the very nice mixed music. We had so much fun and without planning. Highly recommend, specially on the weekends as the dance is something that happens then.

Absolutely amazing!! Farid made me feel so welcomed. Order Musakhan the Palestinian signature dish. Check out the decors especially the map of Palestine.
This was my first foray into Palestinian food - and it was absolutely delicious. The Chicken Mousakhan was exceptional with fluffy bread on the inside - bursting with flavour - I definitely recommend it with Labneh.
The Sambusek is basically veggie Samosas, although I prefer the Indian variety.
My friend ordered a Lemon and Mint juice of which he wasn't keen on, and the Maramia tea was quite unusual although I did finish it all.
Sadly, the restaurant had run out of Knefeh (pretty much the entire reason I went) - but the delicious food I had eaten up to dessert compensated for my lack of dessert.
Service was average.

This was my first dinner in London and what a great way to start a journey. My personal favorites were their delicious falafel and the Palestinian coffee. The decorations of the place add some beautiful vibes. Long live Palestine, their food and their people.

Having returned from visit to Palestine, West Bank I was very keen to visit this restaurant.
My daughter and I entered at 2.30pm on Sunday to be told very curtly "we're closed" by a waiter. I was dismayed saying we'd travelled across London to visit, and my daughter said but it says you stop ordering at 3pm.
The waiter relented and said "you can stay if you order quickly".
It was a horrible "welcome" and certainly not like anything I have experienced on my travels (staying in refugee camps and villages away from the obvious spots like Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
Anyway we subsequently ordered food which was nice (hummus in a bowl???? Surely a plate is more authentic?)
Not long after receiving our food we were asked to pay our bill (meaning I couldn't order the fabulous Knafeh which was such a shame).
After paying the bill the waiter did say we didn't need to rush and enjoy our meal. However shortly after the music (English 🤦 not Palestinian) was turned off leaving us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
When I then went to the toilet my daughter was told we need to leave, along with another table of three ladies (who were not impressed).
During our visit the waiter greeted three other groups/individuals entering the restaurant with the "we're closed" statement.
I left feeling quite upset, I'd talked non stop with my daughter about Palestine, it's hardship, my solidarity with their plight, and their beautiful people to then receive such an unpleasant experience in this restaurant. (I had arrived back in the UK the previous day).
I will add we enjoyed the food, and will return when I come back to London in October to hopefully have a better experience.
