Best Chinese food in the whole of London
I have been going here for many many years from with parents to now married and with my family and nothing beats it
Clean and always consistent with food and service.
Thank you
Awesome food. Fast and personalised service. 100% recommended!
Incredible food and lovely friendly staff.
One of my favourites, everytime I come, I indulge ridiculously! Chicken Rice + Black Pepper crab. Yum.
My favourtie place, friendly atmosphere and top-quality food.
Due to covid restrictions, all dining was outdoors. Our table was a bit small, especially as we ordered four dishes with rice.
We came here to taste their Singapore chilli crab as we had heard its excellent - unfortunately they informed us they had ran out of it during lunch time.
We ended up ordering other dishes which didn’t disappoint! Especially the spicy aubergine in yellow bean sauce was excellent!
The price was what you’d expect of a restaurant of this quality.
Being an Indian, I was used to eating the Indian Chinese food which is spicier and less authentic. Tried so many places but I wasn't satisfied when I craved Indian Chinese. It changed when I visited this place. With food so good, a mixture of authentic and Chinese, this place is a must visit.
Had a dinner there last Sat night with my boyfriend. The food lived up to our expectations. I'd particularly recommend the duck rice and prawns in Assam sauce (spicy!).
Singapore Garden is a popular local restaurant with a menu that features standard Chinese dishes as well as their more “renowned” Singaporean and Malaysian specialties. On a Friday night this place really got going with the locals and a number of takeaway orders as well. Waitresses are kitted out in traditional garbs to give this polished restaurant an extra hint of authenticity.
My favourite place and home delivery place in the world! The hainanese chicken rice may just be rice and chicken to you but it's amazingly close to home for me. The laksa and seafood ho fun are good slurpy options. One of those places where the service and the old patronage is testament to how special this place is. I go here for my comfort food time and time again. I don't know how I would have survived otherwise!! @singapore_gardens
Helpful and friendly staff. Went here for sunday lunch, where it was pleasantly buzzing with people, but we didn't have to wait for a table. the waiter was very helpful and able to give decent explanations and recommendations. the service was great and friendly. food came pretty quickly and was tasty. my only criticism was that the food was a bit expensive.
Consistently reliable Indo-Chinese and south Asian food. If you happen to be passing, make sure you drop in :)
The black pepper crab fried in the shell is a truly great dish. The seasonal specials are always worth trying.
A good local restaurant with quality food and good value for money
Singapore Garden is a asian restaurant with a myriad of Singaporean and Malaysian dishes.
Singapore has an extremely high culinary standard as it mixes all the major cultures in Asia to create a cuisine unlike many others. Singapore Garden is an example of this great cuisine.
I ordered take away, living locally, I was able to see how intricate the interior is. I ordered Haianese Chicken Rice, a favourite that I enjoyed in Singapore however I was unable to find a good one in London. I was happy to say that the Chicken rice I ate Singapore garden was really good. The Chicken could be more tender but the authentic taste was there.
The staff were very friendly and the entire restaurant was completely full on a Tuesday night, showing its popularity. It could be far more authentically Singaporean because the menu included a lot of Cantonese dishes which one wouldn't find it Singapore.
Overall really good food, above average prices and finally great setting.
Singapore Garden is a swanky Asian restaurant located just off Finchley Road. I came here for a birthday dinner with my family and its a good thing we booked in advance as the place was packed! It isn't particularly big after all.
There is a touch of elegance to the interior, and the restaurant has some fancy-looking regulars who are friends with the staff. I liked that the staff were all wearing traditional Asian dress as well, it helps to add to the culinary experience.
For dishes we ordered the aromatic duck pancakes, fried Kway Teow (flat noodles with pork and prawns), sweet and sour pork, crispy shredded beef and two portions of egg fried rice.
The aromatic duck was as good as they come - the duck meat was both tender and crispy, and the cucumbers and spring onions were very fresh. Plenty of pancakes to go round as well!
The crispy shredded beef was delightful - the perfect amount of 'crisp' without being overly crunchy like you can get in some restaurants. My dad loved it.
The sweet and sour pork was also not too bad, though maybe a tad overcooked. I always like to see kway teow on the menu as well as you don't see it that often - we had to pack that to take home as we were all too full!
We couldn't handle desserts but unlike most Asian restaurants they do have some on offer here, from mango puddings to coconut ice cream. I'd like to give one a try next time I come here.
As it was a birthday meal the staff were kind enough to bring us a sparkler at the end of the meal. Lovely way to top it off!
Overall the prices weren't too bad, a bit on the pricier side but the quality of the food is worth it. My only main negative point about the restaurant is that it gets so loud and busy in there that its really difficult to hold a conversation over the table! Id recommend coming later in the evening to avoid the crowd.
Singapore Gardens has a gorgeous interior and is a restaurant which isn’t to overbearing or too intimidating.
The exterior of the restaurant is very swanky and far outshines the other shops lined alongside the street. There are little booths for intimate gatherings, strange oriental plants on each table, amazingly friendly and accommodating staff and it seems a loyal local following as it filled out fairly early on a Friday evening and required advance booking to secure a large table.
Would I Want Seconds:
Singapore Garden has a standard ‘Asian’ menu with the typical dishes like sweet and sour chicken as well as a list of special specialities including best-sellers laksa and kuay pie tee. The dessert menu was particularly engaging with many, lets say, curious dishes, which braver people than me should defiantly try.But the food was definitely good... as was the coffee actually.
Could I Afford Seconds: Oh yes, even though the place is frequently by celebs. For the look of the place they could probably get away with charging a lot more for their food. Standard dishes are about £7 each and you do get a sizable amount. I am most definitely planning on going back as I was given a 20% next visit voucher which I can use for a table of any size. Very enticing.
Overall:I was impressed. Singapore Garden definitely fulfills my criteria, comfy swank and cosy prices. I won’t even deduct points for location because this adds to its appeal.
Great beef rendang, and enjoyed their lemongrass chicken also. A level above other similar priced asian takeaways and good takeaway service. Definitely worth a try.
We visited this restaurant to try chilli crab. We ordered three dishes, and all of them tasted delicious. My favourite dish was the chilli crab🦀 Interestingly, my boyfriend, who is Singaporean, mentioned that the crab tasted closer to Malaysian style. The price was also reasonable, and we plan to visit here again.
Quality of the food is highly maintained.
A bit led down by the welcome staff. As we arrived without booking being seated by the entrance where the table used to sort out the delivery package. Nice waitress moved us to a proper table.
Hainanese chicken rice - chicken is slightly stale. Fried kway teow is not bad, personally prefer stronger wok hey flavour. Rojak and ice kachang tasted different from SG. Overall a nice place to get Singaporean food when homesick
Really nice food and friendly staff. Had an authenticity to it which was lovely .
We were lucky to order some traditional dishes that we wouldn't have opted for usually but the food was delicious.
The staff were funny and friendly and looked after us well with constant attention , our tea cups were never empty !
Definitely worth visiting and will return .
Reasonably priced too at under £30 pp .
Top notch authentic Singapore/Malaysian food served here. Fortunately made a booking for 6 of us on a Sunday evening & the restaurant was packed with a swift turnover. Lots of Asian families dining here (always a good sign to see the local Asian community as it authenticates the food). We ordered a range of dishes to share & the Hainan chicken & stir fry dishes were the stand outs (all had that wonderful “wok hei” charred flavour.) Service was friendly, prompt & the Singapore kebaya uniform for the female service staff was great! The overall ambience was fun & it was obvious everyone was here for the delicious food. Don’t leave without trying out their desserts (ice kachang & sago pudding were excellent). Price is reasonable by London standards - averaging £40/head with drinks. We had an overall excellent experience here & worth the effort from downtown London to eat here. Highly recommend for an authentic south east asian experience.
What can I say, everything we had here was absolutely exquisite! The menu is quite lengthy and has items to satisfy any eater.
All the food we ordered came promptly and was cooked to perfection. The parcels and the dumplings were bursting with flavour, and out of the mains the shrimp and the pork belly were clear favourites!!
Their cocktails were also delicious, and landed quite a punch, so definitely value for money. I would visit this place again, everything tasted delicious, the staff are lovely, and the whole atmosphere is lovely.
We booked this Chinese restaurant a week before since I wanted some hainanese chicken.
The restaurant was clean and the food was lovely. We all found something that we liked. Me the squid, my friends the char siu but the main highlight for all of us was the Kwai Tew. That was done to perfection!
The atmosphere is pretty good and spacious. The service was good and attentive to our needs and gave some good recommendations.
Will come again
Delightful experience. The ambience is lovely. The food is excellent. The staff can be a bit more cheerful though. Overall this restaurant is highly recommended.
A bit more upscale than your average. Good cocktails and food. Pepper and Butter Crab was great (use the gloves), as was the laksa. Won't lie, the desserts were equally exquisite, if not more!
Am a singaporean in London. Recommend the char kuay tiao which tastes authentic and can help you with your sg craving! (This is saltier though and I usually prefer the sweeter one) The assam fish however isn’t worth trying, its missing a lot of the flavours and isn’t assam at all. Total costs of 3 dishes was about 60 pounds and almost 100 sgd for hawker food so wait till you cannot tahan then come
Excellent food as always. Quality, classic Chinese cuisine.
Very noisy and that might suit some and for me it was too noisy to have a comfortable conversation with the person next to me, never mind anyone across the table.
Noisy because it’s busy and popular. And they can accommodate large groups on round tables, which is nicer than long tables in my opinion.
Staff are efficient and do what’s required to make sure you have what you ask for and what you need.
So, all in all a good restaurant and reliable with regards to quality of food.
I’ll definitely go back because it’s local and good. And probably not for a while…
Honestly, I am very critical when it comes to Singapore and Malaysian food. This is the only restaurant I have come across that truly captures the beautiful flavours, spices and taste that you get in Singapore and Malaysia. The staff were friendly. The food came fast. Excellent presentation. The restaurant is clean.
The menu is so good, I couldn’t decide what to get! The staff recommended the Singapore Laksa. It was the perfect amount of spice and flavour.
This restaurant is not cheap but not expensive either. You get what you pay for which is good quality food cooked with love and presented excellently.
Perfect for a date, to celebrate any occasion, or even if you go by yourself which is what I did!
Amazing family restaurant offering authentic Asian cuisine in a very nice setting! Would work great for a family dinner or romantic date
Laksa, squid belachan, oyster omelette in a white tablecloth interior.
My husband and I have been here for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the food both times. The beef ho fun was delicious and had the distinctive wok hei. It was amazing as leftovers for my lunch the next day, too. The beef rendang and braised pork belly were likewise scrumptious. However, the Hainanese chicken rice was not very authentic; the chicken skin was yellow and wrinkly and the meat was rough, unlike the chicken rice I grew up eating in Singapore.
As for desserts, I was really interested in trying the sago melaka. I mostly enjoyed it, though I feel like it could do with less gula melaka syrup, as it was too sweet for me. My husband got mochi, which was unremarkable. They were also out of the hazelnut and coconut, so he could only choose from chocolate and mango.
Overall, though, I like the food and would come back to try out other things on the menu. Service is professional and polite. Prices are a bit high, however, so I’d personally save my visits for special occasions.
The service by all staff was very warm and welcoming. Our waiter was extra helpful with the kids and even opened our moist napkin packets for us which was super helpful as our fingers were covered in crab sauce! The food was delicious from mains to dessert. This is our new favourite local restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, and had an excellent meal here. The kway teow was fantastic and really authentic. Service was great and all the dishes arrived really quickly. Prices are slightly higher than you might find elsewhere, but I think it's generally fair for the quality you get.
Wonderful delicious lunch at 8oct22. 1.15pm. Saturday.
Authentic Asian meals. Booking is require. Open on Sat & Sunday only.
Well done to the kitchen staffs & waitress.
