Found this little hidden gem of a pub on a very hot summer day. We had an hour to wait for our train from Marlebone, which is just up the road so popped in for a pint or two. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Prices very good considering the location in London. Definitely be visiting again soon.

One of the nicest friendliest places. A hidden gem. The guy behind the bar was so friendly and even gave me a birthday cake! We will be back

Great beer, great well presented but hearty food available in main bar or the downstairs function room. For those who remember the Hobgoblin and the Wood, this pub has come a long way. It's tucked away in a side street, so not overrun despite being conveniently close to both Baker Street and Marylebone stations. If tech is your interest, London Mac User Group hold an evening meet in the basement on the second Monday of every month, with extra events whenever there is a streamed Apple keynote. That's much more fun with beer, food, and likeminded souls than it is home alone or hunched over an office desk.

Been coming here for years now. Great place to meet and grab a drink if you're in and around the Marylebone Station area. Great selection of beers and good food too. Relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal place to chill with a drink. Seating out the front for the smokers. It's definitely worth a visit.

We stumbled upon Sir John Balcombe during our journey back to the station, prompted by a friend’s recommendation. This charming pub pleasantly surprised us with its cozy ambiance, and I can only imagine the lively atmosphere during peak hours. Our food and drinks were served promptly, and I must applaud their immaculate restroom facilities—truly the cleanest I’ve encountered in quite a while. The highlight was undoubtedly the delightful beef pie and vegetables; even the kids couldn’t get enough! For the exceptional experience, top-notch hygiene, and scrumptious dishes, a well-deserved 5 stars.

We had our wedding reception at the SJB earlier this month. It was a small affair for just 9 of us but wow, how Peter the manager looked after us. He went right out of his way to make their downstairs function room the ideal venue. Peter was charm personified and made our day completely unique and special. Happy wife, happy life, they say. Mine was delighted - this bodes well for the future. We have popped in on a couple of other occasions and always found the place to be lively and welcoming. Massive thumbs up from us

We came to Sir John Balcombe for an office team lunch, a group of 10 colleagues. The ambiance was lovely, staff welcoming and friendly, plenty of seating area and equally spacious. Most of my colleagues ordered sandwiches which were rated 7 out of 10 on deliciousness. I and another colleague ordered the quinoa salad and although it was tasty the chef forgot to include the quinoa in the salad and hence we rated it 5 out of 10. Prices are ok for central London.

Very nice pub just a few steps from Marylebon train station and - a little further - from Baker Street tube station. We had made ourselves comfortable on the leather sofa and tried out a few small snacks and a pint or two. Everything was very tasty and served quickly. The pub is attractively furnished. Another small bar can be found a bit hidden in the basement, although there were no guests at the time of our visit (early afternoon). The manager knows how to make guests' stay as pleasant as possible, and in addition to some drink recommendations (and a spontaneous birthday surprise for me in the form of a delicious brownie), he even had a few tips for our further stay in London for us. Thank you for the very nice chat! We had a lovely time at this pub and would highly recommend a visit!

I visited Sir John Balcombe pub earlier today and was so impressed. The pub is clean, sanitary and really well maintained. I really admired the aesthetic of the pub. I was served by Alex who did a phenomenal job at making sure I was kept happy and full during my visit. Sundays are for roasts and this pub certainly did not disappoint with a delicious roast pork meal. Alex was warm and welcoming along with the manager Peter who did just the same. Thank you so much! I will definitely recommend the pub to anyone I know who is passing through the area and will hopefully visit again soon in the near future.

I got off the bus from the airport and went directly to this pub. I was welcomed by a cozy atmosphere from the interior of the pub, but especially the staff contributed with an amazing energy! Whether it was espresso martini, G&T or an ice cold pints Mikkel was serving them with a smile. High quality drinks and even higher quality of service! Could the staff be even nicer than Mikkel? Hell yeah! The bar manager Peter was amazing. During our evening at the pub he made sure to go around and boost the good mood, but most important he made sure that our glasses were always full. They even took the time to give us their best local tips to ensure we had the best possible trip to London. There are many pubs in and around London! This one was by far the best we visited. We ended up going there all three nights. Now I’m back in Denmark and I can’t help but wonder if the pints were just better here or if it was due to the good service.😍🍻
