How come we never came to this place?!?
Had an amazing meal with an old friend (26 years Bex!).
Friendly atmosphere, attentive service. Highly recommend the pancake and chilli lemon grass beef with coconut rice. BYO too.
It was enough to make Bex consider moving back to London.
Thanks!
Best Vietnamese in London period - been to a few but this is my favourite
Kingsland road is tough competition for Vietnamese food. This place looks like it's had a makeover and it's way more appealing. For a Friday night I found the service very slow. It took a while to get our order in aswell as the bill. But the costs for this place are cheaper then the rest on Kingsland road and the food is just still as authentic. I would say this place is great value for money.
Love this place. Been going for 15 years on and off. Lucy and Helen are the best. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Hanoi Cafe is quite under rated. It doesn't stand out from the rest. It was recommended on my recent trip to London by a French girl we just met who eats there often. It has a homely setup and nothing too fancy. The menu is quite extensive and there should be something for everyone. I ordered a hot prawn dish (discovered afterwards the rice was charged separately). I could definitely taste the chili in it, which was prefect for the cold night. The place had a relaxed atmosphere and was full of people who were regulars, based on what I saw and them knowing what to order. Our friend ordered a DIY dish where she rolled her own spring rolls with rice paper. It was a fun evening. Definitely a place to try if you find yourself in Shoreditch. Prices are great too, for London standards (and being a foreigner).
Came here to meet a friend for a late lunch on Bank holiday Monday and was so surprised to enter a completely empty restaurant! I got there around 2pm for info, so I had assumed that it would be packed.
I went with the Hanoi bun cha and a hot Vietnam drip coffee and my friend went with the tofu spring rolls and a veggie pho. Food all came very quickly and portions were extremely massive for the prices charged so really good value for money. My bun cha was great and authentic, flavourful and juicy pork meat and pork patties in a pleasantly sweet and savoury sauce which went really well with the vermicelli noodles. Plenty of fresh salad on the side so it was a balanced meal. Hot coffee was also really nice and warm. Strong coffee aroma coming through with the sweet condensed milk which almost tasted like a dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My friend is vegan so she was very happy to see how big of a vegetarian and vegan section there is on the menu. She was extremely happy with the quality of the food and highly recommend vegans to come try this place.
Vibes were so relaxing and homely. Felt like I was back in Vietnam in a local flat which was very minimalistically Southeast Asian. Service was great, the lady was so friendly and smiley the whole time. Definitely coming back for more soon!

The food was really good. But the service could be much better, the lady ordered stuff that we didn't order. They also forgot one of the main dishes and when we asked for it again, they tried to charge us for 2. Luckily this was resolved, before paying.
Hanoi cafe is my favourite place for food in London. Me and my bf go around once a month, the familiy that run it are lovely + welcoming and the food is always delicious. Never had a bad meal, Hanoi is my go to
The food was authentic, delicious, fresh and piping hot. The staff were just as authentic as the food and the atmosphere was fun and friendly. They allow you to bring your own alcohol but charge I think £4 per person.
Delicious food in a friendly and homely setting. Staff were polite and prompt. I had the tofu summer rolls for starter and they were very fresh, followed by the spicy lemongrass prawn pho which was fragrant, spicy, a little bit sour and very filling. Definitely recommend these dishes - I will be back soon to try more!
The best Vietnamese I have ever been to. Maybe the decor is not what you would expect but it doesn't matter as the food is sooooo delicious that you would come back again and again.
My wife and I ate here on a quiet Friday lunchtime. Having arrived not too long after opening time, we were seated immediately by a very friendly and welcoming staff member. We ordered pork banh mi, pho (available in two sizes) and a Vietnamese coffee.
Prepared in a lively kitchen very quickly, the food was packed full of flavour and was very enjoyable. I'd say that it was good value for money too, as you can easily have lunch for under £10.
Would recommend.

The fish noodle bowl was delicious, and spring rolls. Ordered mixed veg but they were too cooked for me. Highly recommend it.
Such a homely vibe. The ma’am who served us, she had such a warm welcoming personality, she even taught us how to roll the Summer rolls. Whay a welcoming place. AMAZING FOOD. Can’t wait to visit again!
Very good, fresh Vietnamese food. Friendly and fast service. A bit pricier than expected but overall the meal did not disappoint!
