The American looking diner is always a good idea! We were craving for some hot dogs and fries and ended up here!
The staff were very nice and not nosy, they gave us plenty of space to be.
We ordered a veggie burger, which was probably one of the best burgers I’ve had recently, considering I can’t stand seeing burgers in front of me! We also had a simple hotdog and sweet potato fries, really good ones!

Honestly, a milkshake with alcohol almost makes me believe in God. Like, seriously. What a great invention that is. I love this place. The vibe, the service (and the food of course) but the milkshakes are where it's at.

Great for a quick bite. I went to The Diner on Saturday night, there were 3 of us and we waited about 5 minutes for a table. Once seated the service was attentive and food was great. Just what you expect of an american themed diner really. Loved the burgers, cooked medium and served on a fluffy bun. We also shared some sides; onion rings, fries and coleslaw - all very good.

With bottled beers from £3.50 you can't go wrong really.

So, to conclude - I shall be going back to The Diner. There are many more breakfast items that I have faith they do very well that I wish to sample. But I will probably stay away from any of the other things on the menu... apart from the hard shakes. I bet they're good.

Lovely atmosphere and service. Super delish cocktails and very generous food portions! (The chicken & waffles were amazing, best I've ever tasted)

What: American Diner

Where: Shoreditch High Street

Value: £15pp

Food Review: To order - thick milkshakes, veggie breakfast and banana pancakes. First to arrive were the thick milkshakes in a huge glass with a bit on the side for topping up. Then the veggie breakfast, this was ok but something you could make at home and nothing out of the ordinary, mostly no skill. Then the light fluffy pancakes, american style, american portioning. All in all a good hearty breakfast, but dont expect a showstopper.

Settings Review: Set of shoreditch high street not obvious to the passerby. Once inside you are immediatly transported to american marty mcfly diner experience with booths. There is not much space and fetting into the boots can be a bit of a sqeeze.

Positives: big portions

Negatives: busy on weekends, had to share a table

The diner has American helping, so massive ones, and a typical American menu of burgers, hotdogs etc.

I would recommend their blueberry pancakes, which are the perfect texture and right amount of fluffy. They melt in your mouth. It's got much in common with the breakfast club, regarding food and helpings, so both are a good bet forward you're super hungry and looking for food, or just craving pancakes.

Situated very close to my flat, I have visited the Diner a few times for a nice, greasy, Sunday breakfast. The decor is appropriately American, with tiled floors and big red booths.

The menu is expansive, however the hot dogs and waffles are brilliant. This is nicely topped off with a milkshake, they even have milkshake with alcohol, for those who don't have a Sunday morning hangover!

The staff are incredibly friendly, and the service really helps the meal.

Overall, I've always had a great experience at the Diner and will be returning very soon!

The Diner is great! I've been three times now, and have enjoyed it every time. Most of the attraction for me is the atmosphere. They play great music (mostly classic pop hits) and the small size of the floor combined with the enthusiastic response of the diners to their favourite songs makes it feel like a seated dance party at times.

The food is classic diner fare, but high quality and delicious. The baby back ribs are really good - so did they're falling of the bone, and sticky with delicious BBQ sauce. The milkshakes and waffles are also great, and the all day breakfasts are excellent.

Definitely worth a visit!

The kind of food you need after a partying night! I went there the 1st day of 2015, hangovered, and after ' Hungry Man breakfast' I went out stuffed and full of strenghts! ;-)

I didn't know this Diner was even here, and we needed a place to eat and fast. Well, mainly we needed cocktails and fast. But, who's judging here? I'd had a mediocre experience at The Diner in Spitalfields fairly recently so I was a little hesitant. However, this Diner was much better. Service is definitely the weak point of this chain of restaurants - I think they need to up their game to be on top of drinks orders and the like, however I will say the cocktails were fab, and the food was delicious. Of particular note - the mac n cheese, as well as the sweet potato fries. I currently have a sudden detest for pulled pork but a few of the others had the pulled pork burger and LOVED it. We had tried to eat at Blues Kitchen where they told us we'd have to wait an hour, so this was our second choice. Really glad we went here. Sometimes all-american calorific food is just what the doctor ordered.

So glad I discovered this place! Basically, The Diner is really simple, comfort food, burgers, and wait for it...ALL DAY BREAKFAST. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and the food was delicious, but still a little bit hungry after that, I ordered two sides so the total came up to 11£ for all that food...cheap if you ask me! A great place with comfortable booths, good food and reasonable prices and well...if you feel like eating pancakes anytime... come here!

I'm surprised by the last reviewer judging this place as expensive, as I was surprised how cheap the food was here. Hmmm, perhaps I'm spoilt - definitely feel cheated for not having a lovely little place like this around the corner in Notting Hill The diner has a lovely retro feel to it, just as you would expect a good-old-times diner somewhere in imaginary America. Staff and punters look the part, too. Glad the music wasn't authentic in that is was a good mix of 80's rock. I love the way the burgers are served up in little plastic baskets. And that they have veggie choices, and the greatest selection of different types of fries I have come across. Shame about those nasty loos, though.

Great American diner in London. Has all the favourites including hash browns, homefries, french toast, milkshakes. You can usually get a table even on a weekend, no need to dress up everyone is doing the Ditch, just out of bed look after being in a cool indie club all night look.

I'm glad I didn't read any reviews before I went to the Diner, or I may never have gone in. And what a meal I would have missed out on! We came here on a whim, looking for brunch food and curious about the thought of milkshakes. We had to wait 10 mins to get a booth (as we're used to in most places in Shoreditch, so no big deal). The service was absolutely fine in my opinion. Maybe Sundays are less crazy? Certainly the waitresses had a full house to attend to but we never had to wait, and everything came as it should have. (For the record, those complaining this is not an authentic American diner... you're right it's an American-diner-themed restaurant in East London! Jeez, most Mexican places are nothing like authentic Mexican food and yet everyone still loves to eat there. Let it go). We started with fries and milkshakes while we waited for our friend to arrive. The fries were fries - nothin' special but just what we wanted - and the milkshakes were heavenly! I love the fact that in addition to your tall glass of milkshake they give you the rest of the shake in the stainless steel cup so you practically get two whole milkshakes! Thick, creamy, lots of flavour... Love love love. Our friend arrived, and ordered macaroni cheese (tasty, although not life changing, but then - it's mac & cheese), as well as chilli fries; my other half had the Mexican Breakfast and demolished it (he said he'd get it again); and I had the huevos rancheros with the eggs poached. Which was spot on, and only £6.20. Ordering took a lot of deliberation as the menu has so many enticing options. Love that you can also get every side dish you can think of, from hash browns, to french toast. If you like a build-your-own breakfast you can totally do that here. Despite the place being full and people always coming in looking for a table, we never felt rushed and were there for an hour and a half all up. I was surprised to come home and read the rubbish reviews, however, despite that I will still be going back to The Diner again. I guess I don't expect much from a casual, diner-themed restaurant. Fun, tasty meals for £6-£8, lots of choice, and great milkshakes will do it for me.

American style burger providing some light relief in the fashionista zone. This was the first of what I think now is a chain of three and is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Inside expect booths including a great table that can seat 10. The shakes are very good, and breakfast is particularly recommended.

It's quite expensive in here, but the food is really, really tasty! There's always a queue on those sat/sun lunchtimes but if you grab a coffee it's worth the wait! There is a wide selection of foods from breakfasts to tasty burgers and they a vast array of side dishes to add onto your order. Great burgers, great breakfastm, great milkshakes and refills on filter coffee. Score.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Classic Americana in East London - you can taste the States. Sandwiched between some drinking and some dancing, The Diner provided a perfect refueling stop, and no doubt put paid to any alcohol meets empty stomach debauchery [on my part]. A huge table housed plenty of us, located at the rear this is the best table in the place, a really sociable big booth that's perfect for groups. Staff were friendly and good natured, easily putting up with our semi-sober mixed up orders and staggered eating times. Burgers were delicious and everything else on the menu looked big time too. Despite it being 11pm, what I really fancied was the breakfast maybe after an all-nighter?!

I've always been a fan of diners. They are a bit of classic americana that don't always translate well when moved to foreign shores. The Diner in Shoreditch has made a pretty fair attempt though. The booths (always essential) are there as is a familiar menu of burgers, shakes, salads, burritos etc. Service was a little poor when we visited from breakfast. We were the second people through the door after opening yet it still took 20 minutes to take our order and a further 30 to get food on the table. If they can get the service sorted then the Diner gets tops marks from me.

I went to this place yesterday for brunch. Me and my friend had this 10.05£ breakfast meal i have to admit it was very good and also in large quantity; I barely managed to finish my meal. The service was good and the employees very nice. The location is very enjoyable and we spent quite some time there. Recommend to try it if you didn't yet.

I tried the vegan Mac n cheese (full dinner portion) and my bf tried a burger + sweet potato fries. The food was amazing and we sat by the window. My only hesitation and lack of full 5 stars is because we loved it so much we went back to get the same meal to go one night and when we brought it home the food was no where close to the same. We recommend eating in and not doing late night take away to really get the great meal. I put up the good photos because we loved our first experience and put the bad one up to an off day by the staff.

One of the best brunch places for vegans/ vegetarians! So I’m a normal student who loves to save a penny when I’m out and about grabbing lunch with my friends. I’m not too fussy when it comes to Dietary restrictions however, my friends are vegan and vegetarian and you have no idea how happy they were when they saw the “vegan/ vegetarian friendly menu” - usually they have to hunt down the (v) or (vv) in tiny print next to each dish and sometimes they can only choose one option out of 8 possible variations (like pancakes - usually there’s only one vegan version “displayed”) either way, as a three we had: vegan banoffee pancakes, - literally some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had (they’re actually tastier than the standard pancakes - in my humble opinion) the vegetarian English breakfast - with scrambled eggs, vegan sausage and all that good stuff one of the vegan burgers - which was amazing as far as my long-term vegan friend was concerned the only thing she had a bit of an issue with was the chillies in guacamole as she did not expect them to be there (she isn’t great at “dealing with the heat”) but after having them removed she said she thoroughly enjoyed the burger! The diner freak chicken - which was so tender and delicious with its spicy sauce (I’m not too fussed by spice and the sauce is really enjoyable) And some vegan chips to share - which were abundant, crispy and delicious. The service was also amazing and they don’t charge extra for milk substitutes. Highly highly recommend this place to students, vegans, vegetarians and generally just people who want to enjoy good food in a Diner environment.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a drink. Slightly retro, casual American diner ambience, with red seat booths perfect for groups of 4-6 people. We only had drinks, ordering milkshakes, cider and a Tom Collins - all good. The service was friendly, although a little slow at times.

Comforting food, always love their sweet potato fries. And happy to see the vegetarian menu to adopt different dietary. Pancakes are generous portion and tasty. Service could be slightly better.

I came here before a concert. Really nice food and very filling. I was very happy that they offered a huge variety. My motivation of dishes came from the guys opposite us. Overall, delicious if you like your dirty sticky wings and great service. I don’t think I can fault much at all.

Ok to have a quick snack. Friday night it is possible to get a table, not very busy. Cheese fries are ok.
