I would given it a 4 but its small and cramped, but the food is good. The steamed sea bass is excellent. So is the crispy duck. Service is ordinary. Come here for the food only.
That was one of the most amazing meals that I had in London! Try the stir fried morning glory and the coconut and mango sagu! Really really good.
Very authentic and out of the ordinary.
Employees are so friendly! I'm sure I'm coming back.
My Chinese friend strongly suggested I try this place and it didn't disappointed. It's a very small place that is quite cramped and hygiene isn't very good. But the food is absolutely delicious and authentic. I'd definitely recommend a visit.
The place is cozy and warm and there is a chef at the noodle and Hong Kong barbecue station right when you enter, which gives a good vibe to the place. Most of the dishes we ordered were incredibly delicious and delightful. The Spicy noodles were not that great though. The service is swift and efficient. The place also provides good value for money.
I have not tried a lot of Chinese places but I think I have found one place to go to in case I am wondering where to go for a good meal. I am of the opinion that this place offers amazing food, much better than the others. The staff is amicable and pleasant. The food is completely worth the price and comes in huge portions. The entree can range in taste and can be a hit or a miss but desserts are their forte. Do try the sago and tofu-fa for sure! The ambiance is very ordinary but you will forget about it once you start having their food. Will be returning more than once!
This place will offer you good and authentic Chinese cuisines and the service is also going to be good , in fact good enough to call you again.
I had tempting Mango & Coconut and it was amazing. On my next arrival I will be coming with an empty stomach so that I can order a lot from that menu.
I find this to be a delicious and reasonably priced place. We ordered the steamed fish, the scallops and shrimps, tofu, eggplant and a few other dishes. All of the entrees were extremely delicious, satisfying and flavourful. The setting and food is so authentically Chinese, I have never seen a better place. There is just one small complaint I have, and that is about the dessert. All desserts that we ordered were ridiculously proportioned, and none of them tasted nice. You have to be very careful with what you order from the dessert menu. I recommend this place for nice and authentic Chinese food.
I visited this place to enjoy a meal with my mother. The interiors of the place are a bit hot, but we eventually became comfortable. The food is absolutely delightful and lip-smacking. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. The service is prompt without being rushed, but the staff is not very smiley, which was okay with us. I would definitely recommend this place.
This is the place you need to go to if you have not visited Hong Kong yet and still want to feel it. The warm ambiance of the place with quirky food displays which seems to remind you that you are in Chinatown. The noise, however, is terrible. But all of this is forgotten once you have ordered the food off the menu which is almost thrown at you. The food is heavenly. Simply powerful. A steal at the quality offered and the humongous portions. They also have a large seating area upstairs for a group and is open till 1 am! Amazing place. Highly recommended.
This is a nice Chinese restaurant serving typical Chinese food along with some brilliant Malayasian cuisine. I love this place and my favourite has to be Malaysian rice noodles. The portions are large and the sauce that goes with it is absolutely amazing. They have some other yummy delights too. The place is quite small, and so usually cramped, but that's okay.Sadly don't open before afternoon on weekends.
A nice little place offering authentic Chinese food. The arrangement of the place was typical too, with the chefs cooking near the window and with the food elevator. The food we ordered was delicious and affordable too. The service was nice for a change and one of the waiters could speak English.
I don't quite agree with other reviews as i think the place is pretty good option in the area. I am regular at this place for its amazing delicious and reasonable priced food.
The menu does have some unusual dishes, and the place simplistic but the food is decent. the service is average and the owner attentive.
Try the hainanese chicken rice an kung pao.
Do not expect this place to be a fancy fine dine restaurant. It is a very simple place serving good food in affordable prices. We went here for the set menu. We just had tea with it. By the end of our meal, we were so full and satisfied. Food was delectable. Give it a try!
This cafe is a small hidden gem located in lower Wardour Street. With gnerous quanitites of food on offer, this place also offers a friendly and amicable service staff. Though crowded, it is the cheapest option one may find in the neighbourhood for excellent tasting gastronomic food. Keeping all the positives aside, I must say that it is not the most lively places I have visited.
A great place for some very authentic and true to the roots food. It was delicious and had some great flavors! To top it all it was so reasonably priced and the quantity was also great. The only downside in this for me was the interiors. There was no attention paid to it and was a bit cramped.
The food at the restaurant is fantastic.
It is well cooked, flavorsome and lip smacking. The portions are generous. The portions are also generous.
However the staff lacks in terms of hospitality. They could be more inviting. Not grumpy, but not friendly either!
We shall visit again because we enjoyed our meal thoroughly.
This is my staple restaurant for some great and authentic Chinese. It never lets me down, simply because of its freshness. The atmosphere is great and so relaxing while at the same time enjoyable. The food is outstanding and the flavors always so good and consistent. The staff is very helpful and attentive.
You are looking for Chinese and you do not want to get disturbed while eating , nor you like waiting in the large queues and still you want to have authentic Chinese dishes then this place is surely for you.
It was a small yet amazing place where the quality of the food really matters.
The service is also very good and i would recommend this place to all the Chinese food lovers.
The food here is excellent and full of flavors. I never leave from here disappointed The staff here is great and very helpful. I have never experienced any issue with their service.
I come to this city at least once or twice a month and always make it a point to visit this place.
After a long morning workout, my friend and I decided to pile on the calories and dropped by Cafe TPT.
The dishes are lovely and the portions super generous. This is definitely a place I'd stop by again. I've heard the desserts are superb but I didn't have the space to have more!
It isn't the prettiest place - plain, tiled floors, cream walls, crammed with as many tables as they can fit into the space.
However, many customers are keen on their dessert menu, which sells regular sweet beancurd (chilled) for £3.50, and everything else at either £4 or £4.50. All the desserts are liquid-based, and are served in aluminium-lined wooden tubs - deep ones!
Although there are many choices, some dishes differ from another just by the addition of a fruit, or sago jellies. For example, the regular sweet beancurd can come in mango 'soup', with red bean, or with fruit, among several other additions and variations. It's like how salad is basically lettuce, cucumber and dressing, but the British have created Niçoise, Wardour, Caesar, which are basically additions or renditions of what is, essentially, giraffe chow.
I ordered a tempting 'Mango & Coconut with Black Glutinous Rice & Sago'. The mango & coconut refers to a thin, creamy 'soup' with both flavours. It was served cold as well, and very delicious and refreshing! However, due to the use of coconut milk and the seemingly endless depth of the dessert tub, it's a good idea to come here with an empty stomach.
Cafe TPT is definitely a recommended place to visit with friends for a taste of good quality Chinese dessert!
always a fab place for excellent oriental food. my go to place since schooling days and it has not changed much even food quality. please keep prices constant in this day and age of high cost of living. the roasted meat remains excellent and the duck yummy! had some vegetables to get my othet side of the diet going and ended off with a very good mango and sago dessert. gets crowded so be prepared to queue or go there early before actual dinner time.
Great place with limited seating spaces and extremely busy for a very good reason. The food was extremely delicious- the service was fast and rather pleasant. We ordered chicken stir fry with cashew nuts, roasted duck, some fried egg rice and beef with ginger and onion. Really worth while visiting this place
The food is authentic. We ordered Peking roast duck with pancake, soy sauce fried noodles, fish soup with lettuce, and a veggie dish with 3 drinks (iced lemon tea and iced milk tea). The service is super fast. Atmosphere is hk like, pretty crowded but this is part of the authenticity.
Had lunch here. Ordered the prawn on toast and prok dumplings for starters. Mains were roast pork with rice and minced prawn stuffed tofu with rice.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, service was very prompt however the mains came out at different times and then the rice came out later.
The food was good, thoroughly enjoyed the dumplings and the other half enjoyed the roast pork and rice, especially the sauce.
I very much liked the minced prawn stuffed tofu, just needed a bit more sauce as it was delicious and needed for rice. All in all, we enjoyed the food. Would be back to try more dishes!
A no frills, proper chinese restaurant! Loved the food, feels as authentic as I could find so far. Knowledgeable staff, amazing ingredients, the real deal.
I really enjoyed my taro tea. It was sooo yummy. Food portions were good. I had the duck and rice. It was maybe too one note. Whilst it was tasty, a bit too sweet and wished there was more cabbage/greens. The beef with crispy noodles was tasty and full of flavours. The teas were really great.
I’m giving this place five stars because it’s exactly what it claims to be - casual, no frills, Chinese comfort food. And frankly, some of the dishes were superb - the spicy wontons really packed a punch, and the roast duck is the best I’ve had in London (I’m serious). The service was friendly and helpful - which isn’t always the case in Chinatown - and you get free tea refills as well. The only dish I wouldn’t recommend that we had was the prawn toast - a bit too oily and not enough prawns.
In short, in the crowded Chinatown streets, with all these different restaurants clamoring for your attention - I’d say this one is a reliable choice. Walk-ins are usually fine and it’s not too long a wait!
Recommended the jer jer chicken pot! A bit salty but so good! Rice killer!😍
The fried morning gory is also good, crunchy and fresh. Fried rice is okay but not good as others. And the Mango Pomelo Sago is super good! 💕💕💕
We went there on a Sunday (late) afternoon and quickly given a table. Tables cannot be pre-booked and there was a short queue outside. It is a small cosy restaurant with an unique setting. The staff was friendly, unlike what I had heard before.
The main reason why we were there was it’s reputation of good authentic Chinese food, and it did not disappoint. The good was served very promptly and it tasted great. We ordered three hot stone pots and all of them very very tasty. We ordered 2 beef hot pots and one mixed vegetable one. We order soft shell crab for starters. The best part was the dessert, an eye opener for me as far a Chinese puddings go. It was a mango dessert with bean curd. Amazing experience and food.
Good cheap eats! (Mandatory?) 10% service charge. No one helped us for 15 min after sitting down but the waiters were genuinely busy. Yummy food and each meal we got was about $10-12
Wasn’t expecting much after reading the negative reviews, but Cafe TPT gets the job done. Food and service was decent across the board.
The 3 mixed roast meats without rice is pricier than the with rice version so be aware of that (you do get more meat). Meats were good but nothing exceptional. The veggies with fermented bean curds were tasty. Wonton noodle soup was okay. Couple a Hong Kong style milk or lemon tea with some imagination and it kind feels like you’re in a cafe in Hong Kong.
Going to bookmark this place for late-night eats when I come visit this amazing city called London. Closes at 1AM daily.
Cafe TPT is one of the places go to in Chinatown if you’re looking for some Cantonese cooking.
We got the Baked Pork Chop in Fried Rice (Macau Style) with a lot of cheese. It seems like a lot of people were ordering this. It was alright, and nice if you’re looking for a bubbling cheese dish.
The Hot Stone Sizzling Pots is also popular, we got the Stuffed Tofu with minced prawn (I didn’t like it as much) so it’s probably best to stay clear. Seemed a bit fishy to me. The King Prawns and Scallops in XO meat sauce was good.
Very homey Hong Kong style cafe just like the ones I grew up eating at in H.K. Everything tasted great and just right. Amazing speed so if you go hungry you won't ever have to wait long for the food. Highly recommended!
Come here mostly for their dessert as I find it so refreshing. The range of Beancurd desserts as well as Sago desserts are just top notch.
In the past they were very well priced at under £5. However, during my recent visit they are now priced at £7 which really is steep considering the ingredients. Nonetheless, we enjoyed them on a hot day.
Service was super swift and friendly. Would be nice if they did the dessert to go and not have to be seated. As it is a small shop.
Food served is quite authentic
Ordered the beef tripe hot stone bowl, char kuey teow and Fujian noodles
Atmosphere is as you'd expect from an authentic place, space between tables is quite cramped but customer service was very good from staff
Decent value and portion sizes
Would 100% recommend the char kuey teow
