More than 5 stars! Without a doubt, one of the greatest pubs in London. Quality of the food/drink, the staff, and the decor/interior, it all must be near the top of any ranking. More upscale than we expected, we came here for the Sunday roast and every expectation was surpassed. It’s enchanting upon the first step inside and even better if they take you upstairs. The waiters were so lovely. Their suggestions were honest and sincere and their patience was remarkable. The bar has great cocktail options, plenty of quality beer, especially the Boltmaker on cask, and the dessert cannot be missed! Every aspect of the menu was thoughtful and appealing. We went for the scotch egg, half chicken roast, and fish and chips. All top notch. Will absolutely return when I’m back in London.
Came for Sunday roast. Had chicken and beef, both were succulent and tasty. Although a bit more pricey than others in London, the portions were a good size and everything was full flavoured. Sticky toffee pudding was also a winner. Great atmosphere. Recommend booking!
Classy pub that is beautifully decorated and is every bit of what a classic British pub should be. Only went in for a pint but this place oozes classiness. Menu looked great and I will pop back some time soon to try the food. Well worth a visit.
Outstanding food, perfect service and a stunning decor - can’t recommend the Indian dishes such as the onion bhaji and the chilli and coriander toastie enough!! Our server was great and the upstairs seating area is so beautiful. Will definitely be back!
One of the best pints of Guiness in all of London. No joke. Went in for a quick pint after a job at the BBC, and we were quickly given a table in a nice back room as soon as we asked about food. The manager Mark then introduced himself and recommended the Guinness. Really lovely chap. And I'm so glad he did, absolutely 10/10. Might be the best Guinness I've had outside of Ireland. Check it out!
We sought out a pub with great food reviews and The George did not miss! Bangers and Mash for my husband and fish and chips for me. Portion was huge, chips were divine. The mash was outrageously good, I couldn’t stop eating it. We saw the Sunday roast come out too and it looked great! Nice staff and facilities!
Best fish and chips in London, with crazy helpful & cheerful staff. With to try their fried veggies and house beers !
Food was amazing! Went there twice in 2 weeks! It is a bit more expensive than other pubs but definitely worth the price!!
Great pub food! Traditional and lovely English pub decor. Very pleasant server. Downstairs bar area was bustling with lots of happy people enjoying a pint. We were seated upstairs in the dining room for dinner which is what we wanted. Every other party also seated upstairs were American tourists like ourselves. Thought it was funny as they must have read the good reviews online too.
From the moment we walked in, we sensed a real warmth about this place, the team were so welcoming, attentive and the service is impeccable. Mark and the team made us feel like we were visiting friends. We had the roast with sharing meat for two which was simply delicious. Credit and thanks go to the chef and kitchen team, the food was absolutely superb.
Having spent many years in our quest to find the perfect pub Sunday roast, we stumbled across this gem. The Sunday roast is by far the best out dining roast dinner we’ve ever had. Achieving both exceptional food and service is a rarity unless you are dining in a top restaurant, as you would expect, however this place takes some beating. We have recommended to friends, family and would strongly suggest you try this place. Thanks again to Mark and The George team, see you in a few weeks. Darren & Nicki.
