Amazing experience and food was the best defo recommend it.
Set menu option was very good. So much food for £25! Lovely service to match. Very understanding and hospitable.
Went there with 10 colleagues (9 first timers) and I defo converted most of them 😊 great food, great atmosphere and good value for money 😊
Nice food great atmosphere and the service was spot on, well looked after us..
Went as a family and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Good friendly service, would certainly recommend.
Loved the food and the staff are super friendly!
Exceptionally delicious food with authentic taste just as you would have in Korea!
Absolutely excellent, never done this before had the BBQ which allows you to cook the food at your own pace whilst having some great conversations. Fully recommended.
Thank you for this wonderful evening! Staff were very friendly and attentive to the details. I had a big party of about 20 ppl and everyone left very happy with the service and food! Thank you!
A bit pricey but the service was very nice. Rib Galbi and Soon Tofu were the best dish on my table. Fulfilled my Korean BBQ craving well enough.
As far as restaurant names go, I take my hat off to SuperStar BBQ for sheer aplomb. Naming your establishment after the diva inside all of us (or perhaps that is just me) was more than enough to pique my curiosity. Maybe after lunch, I would at least feel like a rock star too. Subtle studio lighting (note the stars and words on the walls) reminded you of where you were. Although I had expected a dingy basement in line with previous Korean BBQ locales I had frequented, I was surprised to see a bright and high ceilinged dining area. By the end, I was soon to find that the aesthetics also served another very important function. I didn’t leave dinner smelling like I had just come out of the smoker.
SuperStar BBQ is a new Korean BBQ joint from the same people who brought you Bimbimbap, the mini-chain specialising in bowls of the Korean rice and vegetable national dish. I’m a Korean food novice so it was great to be asked to review so I could experience a food culture that was new to me.SuperStar BBQ sits just off Tottenham Court Rd in the sparkling new Central Saint Giles Piazza development. The area is undergoing huge change with Crossrail slaying all in its path and new sites springing up like unexpectedly guests at a party. The room has some attractive retro 60s lighting but the focus is really on the barbecue grills which are built into the tables. Bowls of sesame, soy and chilli barbecue sauces as well as miso paste adorn the table.
SuperStar BBQ is a Korean restaurant off Tottenham Court Road, a newly up and coming culinary destination with a high density of good quality Asian eateries. With so much choice nearby, new restaurants have to ensure they stand out from the crowd, and SuperStar BBQ does just that. As you walk past the huge glass walls, you are drawn in by a myriad of suspended sparkly lights, into a contemporary, yet cosy dining space. My co-blogger and I were seated in a spacious booth with a stove integrated into the table. We were both starving, and more than ready to get on with some cooking. We started off with some Korean beers, and had a quick glance at the menu. I am a sucker for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken, not the other one), so I obviously opted for Set Menu 2 which starts off with some spicy and crispy pieces of chicken. This was followed by a range of cold kimchi plates and an absolutely amazing glass noodle vegetable stir fry. The sesame and soy flavours that this dish brought forward was a great hint at what we could expect in terms of marinades for the meat. With generous helpings of sides and Korean pancakes, our stomachs did not have enough space for what was to come.
The lovely Lauren of Elle Bloggs kindly invited me to join her for dinner at Korean Superstar BBQ recently. It was in an area near Tottenham Court Road which I’d never been to before (St Giles) with quite a few restaurants and pubs. Useful to know now that I’m working just around the corner! I really didn’t know what to expect from a Korean BBQ, but was certainly intrigued! (I didn’t look up the menu beforehand as I like to be surprised!)
London is one of my favourite cities for so many reasons: the sights, the huge amount of nationalities in one place and the fact that there is so much to do on any given day. . Another reason, of course, is London's food scene. As added appeal, for a traveller, this city seems to have a cafe or restaurant for every type of cuisine out there in the world.
One of the joys of eating out is someone else cooking the food for you. However, at new Korean restaurant, SuperStar BBQ, you cook the food. Superstar BBQ sits just off Tottenham Court Road on St Giles High Street alongside neighbouring Asian joints Ippudo next door and Kanada-ya opposite. What does Superstar BBQ bring to the mix? Well, whist the other two neighbouring restaurants specialise in Japanese ramen, here the inspiration is Korean and offers a completely different dining experience.
I'm quite new to Korean food but when I find something new I like, I tend to rinse it for all its worth. So far, I've tried Korean in the form of steamed buns at Flesh & Buns and Taste of London and recently I delved a little deeper with rice dishes and dumplings at On the Bab but one concept I hadn't tried yet - and was desperate to - was the Korean BBQ.
I had such a great experience at SuperStar BBQ, the latest Korean BBQ restaurant behind the BiBimBap team. We opted for set menu 2 at £30 pp, it's good value considering how much food you get. The Korean Fried Chicken is sticky and sweet and the Banchan (Namool & Kimchi) is fresh and spicy. I tried my first Kimchi Jeon at SuperStar BBQ which is a Korean pancake, delicious. The BBQ components consist of rib galbi, beef, chicken, pork and grilled veg. All the meat is amazingly marinaded, thinly sliced making it easy to cook on the BBQ station situated in the middle of the table. A mini miso soup and bibimbap (rice and veg in a hot stone bowl) are served at the end of the meal just before dessert. I tried the cinnamon drink to finish which was tasty.

I've mentioned before that I love Korean food in any shape or form, and their BBQ is no exception. It always feels like a bit of an occasion to sit around the tabletop grill and feast on their marinated meat, accompanied by some of my favourite Korean dishes, so I was definitely excited to try out the new SuperStar BBQ (by the same team behind BiBimBap and Asadal).
That’s what we said at the start of last summer when quizzed endlessly about it by our charred-meat deprived friends. Why? Because as all stereotypes have some truth to them, every great Kiwi summer requires a great Kiwi barbie, no matter where you are. It might also have something to do with that fact that we have a decent sized outdoor area all to ourselves, complete with rickety picnic table and chairs. It’s no grassy New Zealand backyard, but it’s not bad for London.
Located near Tottenham Court Road, you can find SuperStar BBQ in Central St Giles. The modern setting of the courtyard surrounded by sleek buildings of glass continues into SuperStar BBQ.
Stepping inside, everything looked clean and modern, with splashes of colour thrown into the mix thanks to the bronze lampshades hanging at irregular lengths throughout the dining area. On one wall, we found a series of black and white photos, all displaying the dramatic landscapes present in South Korea.
But weren't we here to try traditional, authentic Korean cooking? The answer to this is in SuperStar BBQ's appearance - this is Korean cuisine, but with a modern twist.
The vision of this restaurant is unique: it wants to bring the food of Seoul to London, but in the updated form that is actually consumed by the people currently living in Seoul.
When we spotted our table, we knew we were in for a unique dining experience.
Each table comes equipped with a small barbecue. While there are plenty of other dishes on the menu, the Korean barbecue menu is the restaurant's specialty so, of course, this is exactly what we went for.
Since we were at SuperStar BBQ for lunch, we chose the barbecue special. This comprised of one choice of meat, a soup, a salad and some rice - all for under £15!
To wash it all down, we chose two items from the Super Sonic cocktails menu. I went for a colourful passion fruit number, while Chris chose the lime. Striking a nice balance between sweet and bitter, these drinks were rather perfect for the summery afternoon of our visit.
Shortly after we ordered, the components of our barbecue lunch arrived. With a little help from the SuperStar BBQ staff, we were about to start assembling the puzzle pieces of our meal.
For our proteins, Chris chose beef while I went with the chicken boolgogi. For the vegetarians out there, you can also choose mushrooms or mixed vegetables as the stars of your barbecue.
The best thing about SuperStar BBQ is that it is so interactive. I could easily imagine this as a fun dinner venue for a first date or a small group of friends.
We cooked the meat to our preference and then started sampling the many small dishes in front of us. Each seemed so simple yet worked flawlessly with the other components of the meal, especially the impossibly tender pieces of meat taken straight off the barbecue.
As an extra side, we got delicious glass noodles with beef and vegetables, of which I could have easily eaten three more portions.
By the end of all of this, we were comfortably full and rather surprised that we had had any hand in creating such a good meal.

St Giles street has suddenly been swept with Asian restaurants on two popular ramen joints Kanada-Ya and Ippudo. Next door to Ippudo is new Korean BBQ SuperStar BBQ by the people who brought you Bibimbap. Korean BBQ is very popular in Seoul, I just came back from a trip in May, and the city is surrounded with 24 hour Korean BBQ places where you just turn up and grill your food.
Pleasant interior makes this restaurant so attractive.
I had spicy soft tofu soup with seafood and egg - it was brilliant.
Two waitresses served us and one of them is incredibly professional, charming, friendly, she really did everything to make us feel as valuable customers - thank you.
Yes, I recommend this place.
I had a good time here but I wouldn’t come back.
If you haven’t had Korean BBQ before this is a good place to try it out. It’s one of the few halal spots in London for it. The place was clean and service was great.
The non bbq food was decent but nothing stood out. The bbq is what you make of it, it just wasn’t to my personal preference.
Avoid the table at the back near the toilets, it’s a blind spot for staff and harder to get attention.
A great dining experience. All the wait staff were great, Melissa made us feel at home and was very attentive without being overbearing, created a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was very good and plenty for the 4 of us, we went for the custom set for 3 and we were all satisfied by the end of the dinner. The LA Galbi was a great highlight, full of flavour. Personally, the pickled radish which was a side accompaniment to the KFC side dish would be my pick of the selection. Its nothing fancy compared to the rest of the menu, but it hit my nostalgia buttons for how my late dad use to make it, so gets my thumbs up.
Food and service was great. My only comment was the toilet is in the basement and it's dark. The walls and floor are painted black and the lights are dimmed. I felt like I was in a horror house, truth be told. I think it would be nice if the color would be brighter. White and brown (wood) maybe, to match the dining area. Just saying.
Great service, the chicken and lamb and beef are halal. Melissa was really upfront, made us comfortable to ask for any help. She constantly joked around with us. The atmosphere was really nice, we weren't made to feel rushed or anything. Calm atmosphere. The food taste was really good. However, 1 portion is not enough for 1 person. We had to order 2 portions per person to get just about full. I would defo recommend the watermelon fizzy drink.
As a Korean, this is one of the best Korean restaurants I've been in London! We went in Lunch time and ordered barbecue lunch meal, which includes one of two portion of meat(which has several options) with lettuce and spring onion salad, rice and little miso soup. We got two portions of meat which was around 16 pound, very good value. You can see how big one portions is from second picture I attached, I was very happy.
We ordered 2 pork belly, 1 LA galbi for four of us. It was enough amount to make us good full. LA galbi was awesome, it tastes like my mum's. One of the staffs suggested us "special kimchi". When I saw it, I could tell it was home made kimchi and I was right. He told me it was made by imonim which made it authentic 👍👍
The staff who served us (he said he is a supervisor) very very friendly, we had a lot of chat with him. Has many knowledge about Korea too. Myself and my friends really liked this place not just because of food but also because of his service. Very friendly, helpful and fun.
Most of all, the owner is Korean which is quite important and I could actually feel that even before I got to know about the fact.
After meal, we went to Karaoke. They have many latest Korean songs. Massive rooms. Off peak price was 70 pound per hour. We very much enjoyed it as well.
Over all, I highly recommend this restaurant as a Korean. I would definately go back there very soon!
I recently dined at SuperStar BBQ Korean restaurant and overall, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant boasts a sleek and modern design, creating a pleasant ambiance. The service was impressively fast, ensuring that our needs were promptly attended to throughout the meal.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. The dishes were simply amazing, bursting with authentic Korean flavours, each bite was a culinary delight.
However, I must mention a minor downside. As soon as we finished our meal, the bill was presented to us before we had the chance to inquire about dessert options. It seems that they prioritize efficiency in this busy establishment, so be prepared for a quick exit if you plan on having dessert elsewhere.
Despite this small inconvenience, I highly recommend SuperStar BBQ for its delectable cuisine, stylish atmosphere, and efficient service. It is undoubtedly a fantastic Korean restaurant worth visiting.
We enjoyed the meal because of the fancy atmosphere and the friendly staff. I ordered fried chicken as a side menu, Korean barbecue (pork belly and LA galbi) as a main and added kimchi. Make sure to grill kimchi together. I recommend it. Also there is new korean dessert bingsu, should try it! So goood! There is also karaoke. I had a great time.
Had a lovely bibimbap lunch from superstar today, was served in a timely manner and tastes great! The service was wonderful too, with a server called melissa being quite helpful as well as another bloke. Would recommend to anyone looking for some good Korean food near Tottenham Court Road.
Had a great time here. Service was friendly and fast. Food was good quality. I enjoyed the atmosphere too. Would definitely come back.
We were served by Melissa and she was really cool. She was friendly and made us laugh a lot, she is definitely part of a memorable experience. Thanks Melissa!
