A wonderful pub nestled in the conservation area of Angel, Islington. Michael, who manages the pub has transformed this delightful watering hole with his delicious brunches at the weekend and tapas menu in the week both for lunches and evening suppers . His staff are delightful and it is so refreshing to find a pub these days that you just want to keep going back to. Michael has introduced great cocktails as well and delights the senses when he introduces a new one to us. Dogs are welcome thank goodness and you cannot do better then ambling along to The Charles Lamb for a drink and nibble with friends. Time just flies by with a great pub like this and do go and find out for yourself.

Wonderful staff and most welcoming pub. Very tasty food . Good choice of beers and lagers and " special offer " board on bottles of wine .... Certainly recommend a visit .

A small oasis of joy, worth the short walk from Upper Street. Great staff and unpretentious vibe. Long may it continue!

If you love a pub to be a pub - and enjoy a gorgeous Georgian building with an extremely contemporary landlady - get yourself down to The Charles Lamb. It's exquisite.

Dogs Welcome. Dogs are welcome here, in fact very welcome. We went with our friends and our pair of labrador puppies were the star attraction, while the humans enjoyed delicious roast beef from the half a dozen or so Sunday lunch options, and a glass of rioja. A really relaxed vibe, and charming staff and fellow drinkers/eaters. No world cup football, in fact noTV, no music, just a top quality pub and restaurant. We'll be going back.

At last a great place in Angel. This place is great, the rillets were fantastic (on a par with terroirs), steak hache juicy with perfect veg.
The portions are generous, the deserts home made ( always a good sign in my humble opinion!) I had a very pleasant piece of cheesecake.
Friends had gazpacho and seafood platter which was equally top hole. Combine with a thoughtful winelist and good beer, and I'm a happy man.
Quite out of the way which is nice, keeps it a bit quiet, so I must mad telling you about it!
My default choice if I can't walk to Exmouth Market.

I’ve been invited to the Charles Lamb on several occasions in the past but unfortunately due to one thing or another, had never been able to make it. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Angel, on Elia Street, it couldn’t be further from the Islington riot scene I envisaged.

Nestled out the way like all the good ones are, it marries rustic and urban in a match made in Devon. Tree stumps act as doorstops, maps hang from the walls, and Thatchers is served proudly at room temperature. Dogs outnumber people and furniture’s as hig

I’d wanted to eat at the Charles Lamb for years and I mean years, probably 3 or 4 at least, but with most things in my life things get changed always at the last minute.

Nice, authentic boozery, seemed pretty quiet and relaxed on Saturday lunch. Very friendly service. The burger, unfortunately, was overcooked and somewhat flavourless, chips were great, though. German Helles beer on tap was a great option.

Excellent backstreet pub, lovely customers and staff. Good beer too and a bit of history surrounding the eponymous Charles Lamb. A poet and Philanthropist. visit and enjoy

Lovely local pub, just far enough off the beaten track to avoid the masses of Angel. Very good selection of beers and a very relaxing atmosphere. Cosy in winter and in summer lovely to sit outside of. Haven’t eaten food here recently but in the past definitely above standard pub grade.

Great place, loved it since the beginning. Went there for dinner with friends and I have to admit I wasn't expecting such good food. The place is very cosy and the fish we had was very well made, definitely a nice touch of Italian food. They also had the Italian Spritz which was a novelty to my English friends and it's probably a must try.

Great spot for Sunday Lunch. Getting the between 1230 and 1300 usually seating not a problem. Food generally good and the Gasping Goose cider is great. Perfect place for a decent lunch and a drink, along with a good book.

Are you still open for business? I came by on 3 weeks ago (Fri) at 12.30 & you looked very closed. And I've phone but never get a reply. It's always been one of my favourite Islington pubs by far. What's happened?

Cute and cosy little pub with friendly staff and tasty food. Their selection of beers & ales is not huge, but what they have is really good. I had a pint of Dark Star Hophead ale, and it was lovely :) They also had a good background music, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere in the pub. Free/secure WiFi is available for the customers.

Best pub in Angel. Staff are great fun, the food and beer is second to none. Get warm, play with the dog and rest up with a good pint.Small and cozy and gets busy for Sunday lunch so not great for really big groups..

I went there for drinks and dinner this evening, opted for the steak and was treated to a beautiful bit of steak along with some very tasty sides. Friendly atmosphere and staff, just get there early if you want a table.. it's pretty popular even on a Tuesday! Highly recommended.
