Good food, fast on serving, and very fair prices for Greenwich. On and around in this area only here you will be well served and not cry your money. You won’t leave disappointed.
Had been toh tai won mein and its a nyc restaurant try Chinese cuisine and Chinese food was yummy and delicious tried noodles with soup and fried noodles with roast duck and some house red wine and carlsberg 🍺
A super casual chinese restaurant serving decent food. There are a good amount of options on the menu. Reasonably priced and standard service.
This place is what I call value for money. The portions are enormous and typical traditional Chinese food, would go back here again and again
We had spent a good chunk of our weekend in Greenwich and to complement that, we were on the hunt for a good chunk of food to feel spent on. Tai Won Mein on Greenwich Church Street was an appealing spot with many a crowd around. The vibe is cheap and cheerful and upon being seated the staff have a refreshing directness that makes you certain of it’s authenticity. The food order sizes are massive, making for the usual value for money and the three of us shared two dishes. One was my choice of the Fried Hor Fun with beef (£6.20) and the other was the restaurant namesake, Tai Won Mein (£7.20). As a non-seafoodie, it was never my dish, but I did find the broth here a bit bland regardless. And also majorly lacking flavour was the fried hor fun. No denials on the sheer mass of food, but could have done with a lot more soy, salt, garlic, greenery or something. The blandness was a bit disappointing that made eating a bit of a chore. I probably would have been willing for some MSG-ness, even. The sweet and sour dishes around us looked great, so maybe worth another go and ordering different.
Love to visit this restaurant, small place in the corner of busy Greenwich junction. Fried king prawns, sea food curry with rice and chef special soups are always top notch and are rightly priced with substantial quantity; that's why I am a regular here. Staff is courteous and you'll enjoy the buzz. Also take cash as they don't take cards.
Visited after reading the reviews on Zomato. As promised by others, it did turn out to be a good 'value for money' place with tasty food. I had the chicken sweet corn soup and prawn fried rice. The rice portion is humongous and is ideal for two people. Only problem was that the prawns were not de-veined and I couldn't eat them after noticing it. Will stick to chicken next time.
It's a nice and convenient location Easy to find.
Lots of Chinese noodle and some rice options available for a cheap price. Dishes come at a generous serving. The taste is mediocre but given the price, I would recommend it for a cheap and filling meal.
By the far the best Chinese food I've had so far in London. Had the roast duck friend rice and a wonton soup. The duck was cooked perfectly and the soup was tasty. All for just £9.
Decent food- really cheap!
A good place to go to grab some lunch if you are short for time. I love their beef in black bean sauce! Quite quick service too.
Classic Chinese place to be honest don't expect anything amazing but it not bad, you should know what you are getting here. If you want a decent amount of food for cheap, this is the place for you. I wasn't too impressed with the sweet and sour chicken, way too much sauce, lots of rice not much of anything else. The outstanding dish was the salt and pepper squid, that was incredible. I would be back just for that for sure.
Quick & friendly service. I had the Beef in Blackbean sauce Ho Fun, very flavourful, big portion & saucy the way I like it. My partner had the Stir Fried Vermicelli with Duck & Roast Pork, also flavoursome and hearty. Definitely coming back :)

Tai Won Mein means big bowl of noodles.
As a Chinese from south China/HK, I can assure you the beef fried flat noodles 乾炒牛河is authentic. Remember to order a small plate of chilly oil, mixing with the noodle is the best. The noodle has a lot of beef vegetable. Overall the portion is very generous. If you’re not a big fan of flat noodle, you can ask to replace with egg noodles.
The Singaporean style chow mein 星洲炒米 is also very nice. Curry beef rice is also good.
The stuff here speaks Cantonese, Mandarin an English. They seem to be in a rush all the time, but they are actually very nice staff. Remember they only take cash.
Fried Rice, Beef Ho Fun, fried calamari, they make them all really good. No credit card accepted though so be mindful of that. 10/10 for portion size. Ask for their Chili oil too!
Excellent service!! Apart from the great variety of food to choose from, this restaurant offers a number of tables with street views. Service is prompt and friendly. They are a cash-only service so go prepared. There are a number of free cash withdrawals available nearby, just in case. Highly recommend the Chicken Chowmein (large portion size). The fried prawn toast with sesame is oily but quite delicious and filling.
Excellent food hands down. Had the beef with ho fun in soup. Flavorful broth, melt in your mouth beef, fresh greens, and punchy chilli oil. Service is fast and efficient and the place is pretty nice and clean.
The only negative is that they are a cash-only establishment.
Are you in budget and want delicious, fresh quality food? Look no further
Tai won mein is literally 5 mins walking from cutty sark station and opposite greenwich market. This place is no frills, eat and go kind if place.
All the servers are friendly and helpful. Their menu are in English and with description of the food.
We ordered soup, dumplings, tofu and chicken fried rice.
Dumplings are one of the best I ever had. Dumplings were plumpy, juicy and full of flavour.(this should be must)
Deep fried tofu was crunchy outside and soft and gooey inside. Rice and soup were delicious too. I will definitely come this place again.
FYI…The restaurant only accept cash. If you dont cash, there is a atm just nearby.
If you're going here, you need to go very hungry!! 'Cause the plate portions are large...at least for main meals. Good food. Requested for additional pepper which was provided. Cheeful service
Tasty food and big portions. Better value than the various street food offerings in the area. Why eat standing up outdoors when you can sit down and access facilities? Restaurant is basic but clean and well presented. Only downside is that it is CASH ONLY.
Fresh delicious food served quick by friendly and helpful staff.
Orders drinks, starters and mains.
The portions are very generous so we needed take away boxes for the left overs. Each box is 50p.
The fresh juices are absolutely yum. I ordered the fresh orange juice. Fresh juices are £3.30 each.
So pleased the restaurant is still going strong after the lock down. This was a regular for me si will be coming more often now.
