We were looking to try something different and stumbled up on this well-reviewed place on Google.
The starters were very good - especially the Blini Beef - and our party of three each opted for the Azerbaijani Plov. It was good but arguably could have done with a little more meat-to-rice ratio. We also ordered three of them, but staff said only two could be made, which was strange as we were the first seating for a Friday dinner.
Dessert wise, the Pakhlava wasn't great - I know it's the Azeri version of the Turkish classic, but it wasn't what I was expecting, it was much harder.
That said, would happily recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for something a little different in London.
authentic azerbajan restaruant recomended to me by a azerbajan person so has to be good which it was the flavours are different definatley unique tasting doesnt taste like any other cuisine ive had has a sweet twist to the flavour rice and meat. and the beef pancakes amazing sorry i dont know any of the names but all of it was great enviroment is nice humble. they also have taditional tea and cake so this is defonatley aplacr to try for something different. also the tradiyional sparkling pear drink was amazing with a very good serving of it.the honey cake is wow i was speechless kind of like if a cheese cake and baklava were to get married and then moved to france and got influenced thats the best description i could give its just amazing.
Amazing authentic Azerbaijani food in London. People are amazing too and their service is excellent. The food is halal. CAKES with TEA are a MUST. My full review on my food page insta - @iamalwayshungry_2022
The food is exceptionally delicious and highly recommended for those seeking both high-quality cuisine and affordable prices. The establishment also offers excellent customer service in a peaceful environment.
Really flavourful food at this little restaurant. Service was absolutely brilliant. The price felt a little high for the portion size, but the ingredients were of a decent quality and it was a really lovely experience of a cuisine I was unfamiliar with. I can recommend the Uzbek Plov which had really delicious seasoning.
A small nice humble Azeri restaurant located about 10min walk from Kings Cross. The chai and the pomegranate juice were great, and the plov was very rich and infused with so much taste. Would go regularly if I lived in London.
First time having Azerbaijani cuisine and this restaurant didn’t disappoint. Everything was delicious(especially the goluptsi) we have them in my country as well but the herbs in those were divine. Service was great as well, the atmosphere was chill. We started with vodka and pickles and you should definitely do the same :)
Lovely restaurant with a great menu! The food is delicious, really good portions and great service!
I have never had Azerbaijani cuisine before, but I was highly impressed. I had "Borsch" with "Gurze". The food was full of flavor and very nice. There was a fair amount of Garlic in the main dish, which may be good for some people and not others.
An amazing and authentic family run restaurant. A great introduction to the Azerbaijan cuisine for my wife and I.
We started off with some borscht and beef blinis which the waitress kindly brought out two bowls for a single order - we basically got some free soup! There was a healthy service of bread to go along with this. For the main we shared an Azerbaijan plov again on the recommendation of our waitress and it did not disappoint, the lamb was cooked perfectly. To finish, we had a tower block of the walnut honey cake and some free tea which the waitress brought out.
If you want some delicious homemade food from Azerbaijan with great portion sizes then look no further.
I’ve never had Azerbaijani food before, but it was absolutely delicious! We were seated immediately and had food on the table shortly thereafter. Service was super attentive and the portions were perfectly sized. No complaints from me at all!
I’ve been wanting to go here for the past 3 years ,
As the only Azeri restaurant in london , I expected high things and they sure did deliver .
Very cosy family run business with outstanding service , extremely clean and on point cutlery display . I was hoping for lula kebab and stergon fish as they are my favourite dishes world wide and london is yet to still discover them. However everything ordered on the menu was perfect , Azeri khangali tastes great and a real soother to the stomach . I recommend this place for a differnt kind of a experience where the hosts will take care of you and food is clean and tasty .
Never tried the Azerbaijan kitchen and I was positively impressed.
Obviously it is very different from my country culinary tradition (italian)
Professional and polite waiter
Great food with some similarities with Greek and Turkish.
If I am again in these part of London I will definitely come back
My friend and I loved it! The downstairs seating area was very cozy and nicely decorated in Azerbaijani style cloths. When it was just us and another guest, it perhaps felt a little bit “exposed,” as you had to keep your voice down or you would be easily overheard. But, as people came in and a buzz of voices started, it was a great atmosphere for talking.
The food itself was great! For central London table-service dining, I think it was a good price. Roughly 25 pound or so a head if you share a starter and get a main.
I got the Azerbaijani Plov and thought it was delicious! Only feedback is perhaps the amount of rice as opposed to the lamb, apricot, chestnut, and raisin toppings may have been a little too rice-heavy. Picture attached.
The “aubergine caviar” starter was amazing! Would 100% order that again if I went back. It came with love, soft, almost pillowy bread to eat it with.
Certainly would recommend this place if someone wants to try a cuisine that isn’t too common in this part of the world! I would also go back!
Ive been thirsty and didnt know it...Here, the simple offer of more water for fresh mint tea, or lime aside the traditional lentil soup mean as much as water to my dire thirst for hospitality. I wish I could eat the walnut honey cake every day of my remaining days. Can't wait to return and be led from the desert to paradise.
Tucked away in the busy belly of Kings Cross...this peaceful little restaurant feels like a home. The service, seemingly by a mother and daughter, delivered efficiently and respectfully. The food feels like a unique take on Middle Eastern/Eastern European and is a delight to all the senses. For London, this experience is high value for money. Cannot recommend this any more. I look forward to returning again to explore more of this menu. Its nice to come home after a hard day of work.
Amazing location with a very nice design. Staff are very friendly and the food is amazing!
Good place to go if you want to try something different. Tried the cabbage rolls and they were super delicious!! The walnut honey cake is the best you can find around here!!( no photo taken as it got eating very fast😅!!)
Cheers to the chef!! 🙏🙏
