Amazing atmosphere, can be super packed, but there's always someone finishing a great meal. Downstairs is colder, the higher you go the warmer it is (Summer time review)
The roof top bar is cool too.
I went for Gopal’s Corner and that was amazing. Then tried friend chicken from Buttermilk chicken downstairs. Amazing stuff
Had the noodle soup,
Lamb and roti
Then some buffalo fried chicken wings and lemonade. Amazing meal.
If you're looking for authentic and delicious Malaysian Tamil cuisine and street food, Gopal's Corner by Roti King is the perfect place to go.
Every time I have visited, I have never been disappointed. My personal favourite is the roti canai; it's always warm, flaky, and soft. The menu is filled with other yummy options as well, such as the kari laksa and beef rendang. Even though the queues can be long, the entire experience is definitely worth it.
Authentic Malaysian restaurant in central London, decent pricing and flavour so good it reminds me of home!
Had the fried chicken banana leaf platter, shiitake rendang and rota canai, very yummy and generous portions! Not too busy on the Sunday afternoon when we visited despite being right across from London Victoria Station, but this was during rail strikes.
Halal and vegetarian friendly
This was the BEST beef rendang I've eaten in England, no lie, this was so good. Also the roti canai was unreal! Service was quick, price wasn't bad, vibes were great - we're absolutely coming back.
Quite nice and authentic tasting food. Recommend the laksa as it’s a good portion for its price and tastes great! Can’t say much about service and atmosphere as it’s just a stall in a food court but nothing stood out about the market hall, felt like any other food court in London. Wished there was a bigger portion of the roti and curry though.
We have been here twice now and every time had a great experience. They are so quick to prepare the food and it is amazing. One of our favorites in London. The roti is a MUST! All the flavors work so well together and it’s the perfect serving size. 10/10 recommend.
The Banana leaf is very delivious, 12.95 pounds value for money. Comes with 2 sides of vegetables, 2 crackers, some minced mint, very good portion of mutton (I ordered mutton) with curry sauces and white rice.
We came back here few times, this dishes never failed. It's very satisfying.
Honest review:
Always a delight eating at Gopal's. This is one of the places without an hour-long queue and you get the same quality of food. The pandan leaf platter was nice with fish curry (if you're a fish fan) but the mutton curry with roti is hands down the star of the show. Extremely delightful and delicious.
At the market, you can grab some drinks, have a laugh and enjoy a nice time out with your friends and family.
Fantastic place, and highly recommended.
Short summary
If you're looking for something comforting and filling, this is a great place to go
Food
Wonderfully balanced flavours with appropriate spice levels and different textures that provide a lovely experience
Service
Whilst it can take a little while for the food to come together and be served, you're not left waiting too long and the wait is worth it as the plate as a whole is amazing
Atmosphere
When I visited, it was around 19:30, I got my order at 19:45 - 19:50, I mentioned the timing as this is where business really picked up for this vendor. It was so popular that many people were waiting to order and that speaks to how friendly the team are
Gopals is part of the Roti King restaurants and it doesn't disappoint. Located in Market Hall (we visited their locations in Victoria and Market Hall in central London) this is amongst the most authentic and well prepared Malaysian food we have found in central London. Roti is cooked fresh (a key benefit) and the dishes are well prepared. This is very casual dining - queue, pay, eat but it's not a problem as the food was always consistent and fresh across multiple visits. We had the banana leaf platter, the curry chicken and roti and the side of ayam goring (fried chicken). We agreed that the tea tarik was not as successful but not bad. Even after several visits we look forward to returning next time we visit.
