Earls Sandwiches

A great little sandwich shop with friendly service just off Fenchurch Street. Everything on offer from what I saw looked good, I had the Chicken Escalope Milanese with added prosciutto and mozzarella, the ingredients in the bap were quality and definitely superior than what you would get in the big chain sandwich shops.

Edited: I am changing my review from 1 star to 4. I appreciate that they responded and clarified my doubt about the extra 50p that they had charged. I wasnt aware that it was chargeable. I do like this place. ------------- Earlier review: I love this place and have been going there for the past 4 years but today I noticed that when my card didnt work for whatever reason, they added 50p to my bill and charged me 6.25 for the sandwich instead of 5.75 as listed on the menu. Why would you charge extra for cash payment and if that wasnt the case, what was that 50p for? I just happened to count the change and look at the VAT bill, else wont have known. Disappointing.

This place is excellent - the guys in here make excellent sandwiches and quick. They often have a queue at lunchtime, but it moves pretty fast. Personal favourites are bacon avocado bugette, the "crudo" (ciabatta with all Italian stuff in it) and of course the special wrap (chicken escalope, bacon and molten cheese extravaganza).

Exceptional! People have said London's best sarnies and I have to agree. Generous, good quality, well-filled sarnies and great value too. Really lovely, friendly staff as well. I've tried the vast majority of the local options and they just don't compare. You can get everything from the humble cheese and onion on white sliced, through to toasted wraps with bacon, breaded chicken, cheese, hash browns, spinach and mayo - a real treat, filling and cheap for what it is. I visited a few times before posting this as I wanted to check consistency - excellent every time, unlike others nearby. Cannot recommend Earls highly enough!
