Overall, quite a nice stay. Worth the money paid. The only negatives are: No bacon at breakfast, reading light above bed broke, hardly any flush to the toilet, towels smelled a little musky, lift almost continually out of order, noisy 3rd floor room from road/street, ultra thin pillows, ineffective air-conditioning in the room. The positives are: Price, free parking, not a bad breakfast, nice TV with good selection of channels. All in all, good value for money, the negatives could easily be remedied. I would stop again without hesitation.

Nice decor, fabulous staff, very friendly and helpful. Great rates and lovely rooms. Very impressive choice of breakfast included in the price, well done girls. Nice to see the gated parking as well. Easy enough access to the capital via public transport. Top marks also to Johnny and all the brilliant staff at the Ruskin Arms adjoining the hotel, again always very helpful, making you feel very welcome. Great choice of restaurants nearby, should you decide to eat out, though the cooks at the Ruskin Arms do a mouthwatering array of gastronomic delights. Will definitely be returning as soon as possible after a most enjoyable stay. Thanks again everybody, you more than exceeded my expectations, and will be recommending you to many. :0)

The rooms are great for the price. They contain bathrooms and air conditioning which is great for the UK. The station is rather close by and it's a pub as well which is nice if you need it. The only issue is the surrounding neighborhood which has a history for not being the greatest. If you can get past that then it is a cost effective place to stay with easy access to London.

3 night stay. Large room to accommodate family of 4. Breakfast was fine. Reasonable cost for London. Four stars only because the toilet cistern took approx an hour to refill at certain times of the day.

Affordable stay in East Ham, London. We stayed over 10 days. It has great access to buses, the tube, overground trains, and national rail, which is ideal for tourists. If you are an Indian, you'd feel completely at home as this is a predominantly Indian neighborhood, with plenty of hotels, shops and supermarkets selling Indian products. The room was clean, housekeeping was excellent, staff were very helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was yummy.

The Ruskin Arms hotel was a great place to stay. The prices of the room, though it may change on busy days, was quite affordable. It is located on the Ruskin Avenue and is well located as it is close to alot of stores and a walking distance to the underground station. The Ruskin hotel give free breakfast in the morning which is buffet service. Great breakfast even though it was the same thing every morning but the breakfast as I said was great. There is also free wifi for guests. The staff there is also helpful and friendly. Generally speaking, The Ruskin Hotel was a great place for me and I recommend it.

This is a lovely hotel with modern, clean facilities. At first glance we were confused about what we had stepped into, being as we'd inadvertently walked in to the pub facade of the hotel! (It is really lovely pub, by the way... more on that in a minute) A quick detour round the corner brought us to a modern glass fronted hotel reception that was clean, bright and nicely accommodated. The staff here are incredibly professional and helpful with excellent local knowledge. A ridiculously quick check in later and we were headed up to our room in the lift (insert lift music here... there wasn't any in the actual lift, thankfully! ) We entered our room and were genuinely surprised at how fresh and stylish it was. Well lit, with a large safe (the with jiggling, took a 17inch laptop), a good sized TV, spacious bathroom with large shower cubicle and two single beds... wait, what the... (This is where I admit to the better half that I wasn't paying attention when booking this happy accident). A quick push together later and an episode of "When spouses turn killer" was avoided... phew. The window afforded views across wider London and was nicer than many views in London hotels I've stayed in, over the past. We decided to do a reconnoitre of the facility we would be at the next day and learn the route so we were stress free in the morning and the reception staff were like transport ninjas, with prices, times, alternate routes... So off we went. When we returned we were greeted with a busy little pub in a bustling community, wondering if we'd struggle with sleeping. We needn't have worried as the room was quiet and cool with the Air Con on. Fast forward 7 hours and we're figuring out the shower (which is bloody brilliant) after one of the best nights sleep we've had in a hotel. Its worth noting my better half is a terrible sleeper, but she slept like the dead (still no episode of spouses turning killer... the mumbling showed she was still with us). Showered, dressed and up to date with local news, we were off to breakfast which is staged in the pub downstairs. A wonderful array of food was on offer including sausage, scrambled eggs, beans and a daily assortment of potatoes based options (hah browns, croquet etc). Not to mention a range of cereals, toastable items and fruits, with hams and cheeses. Tea, coffee orange juice and milk were there too... you get the idea, they were fattening us up for a sacrifice to the hotel gods. It really was a lovely breakfast in a well spaced out, quite environment. This same space transforms in to a fun, reasonably priced, quirky pub by night with 2 pool tables and a great bar staff, surrounded by friendly locals who offered to take us out partying (had we not had 4x 18 hr days, we'd have been all over that offer). There was a couple (I assume, though could be wrong, often am!) Overseeing the breakfast arena that were truely lovely people and so happy to help, who worked quietly to keep the place tidy and tables available quickly... they were unsung heros. This high standard continued for our 5 day visit without fail and our room was beautifully turned out each morning. All in, The Ruskin Arms was a very happy accident to have found, and so well priced for the unobtrusive way we were looked after. Would we stay here again? Yes, going so far as to say I'd be inclined to only stay here on visits to London as it was a wonderful place, in an eclectic little community of lovely people. I hope this helps inform your decision.

We stayed at Ruskin for our City-Trip to London. We expected nothing much from the hotel and were positivly surprised at how clean and nice it is. The free Wi-Fi was really fast - we could live-stream without interuptions. The service was perfect, the staff helped us a lot and lent us a hair-dryer, pens and a spoon. As the batteries of our safe in the room ran out, the receptionist immediatly changed them. The rooms were small and clean. The pub is fine as well to play pool in the evening, drink and eat or watch sports. When you stay in the hotel, you even get coupons for free drinks, if you buy a dish in the pub. The breakfast buffet is small, but has everything one needs (cafe/tea/orange juice; sausages, scrambled eggs, backed beans, bread, yoghurt, milk, fruits, cereals,...). Would totally recommend it!

Room was clean and comfortable, although the bed was quite firm and pillow small. The management made room for our car in the car to save us parking on the street which is only allowed for 2 hours, so this saved us major headaches. I was here for RideLondon and was allowed to take my bicycle into the room ro prepare, again saving major hassle. Also breakfast was served at 5am for people doing the sportive. The breakfast was good, apart from no bacon, presumably because if the area it is in and religious beliefs. We had a meal in the pub below the hotel which wasn't that good, think Wetherspoon's standard. Overall I was very pleased.

The room was clean and the staff was friendly, but the neighborhood is bad. There were some people on the corner shouting at us as we were going in, and at night I would not advise women to go outside alone to smoke, etc. The room was nice enough however, just know what you're getting in to beforehand.
