Superb session and fantastic acoustics in this absolute gem of a local pub
Exactly what I want from my local. Comfy and recently done up, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The vibe is relaxed and the food is cracking. Give the leek bhajis and chips a go. Outside space as well for the warm weather. Also a good place to bring your dog!

Good Telegraph Hill, New Cross pub about 10 minutes walk from Queens Road Peckham. Only one cask beer on handpump when I last visited but I am assured they usually have two or three real ales. Outdoor seating in a garden to the front.
The pub has recently reopened having been closed since August 2022. It has been acquired by Parched and tastefully refurbished. Food is provided by Gengellys and is made up of pies and chargrilled meat and fish.
All of this has certainly had an impact. Before the pub closed there were usually only a handful of customers. When I visited on a Wednesday evening it was packed!
So the staff were very friendly and the food was really tasty. The burger was good, but was a little let down by the bun.
The interior looks beautiful after the refurb and the selection of drinks is great. The staff were really friendly and clearly care about the pub.
They were playing bossa nova music which I found a little at odds with the atmosphere. Food was good, but I was surprised to pay £12 for a burger that doesn’t come with chips!
This Five Star Pub Should Not Be The Best Kept Secret In Lewisham!
This review sums up some visits made since 5th July 2019. It was on my first visit with a lovely friend Rima Bray that the lovely manager donated what turned out to be the best of eighty raffle prizes I collected in SE London a crowd funder for The Hill Station Community Café in nearby Kitto Rd, the prize was a meal for four, I will never forget your generosity for such an important cause.
Although the management has changed the chef has not and so far both meals, fish and chips last year followed by Sunday Roast Pork on 23rd Feb 2020 were both so delicious they should be illegal. The roast just blasted my taste buds, the roasted beetroot was a master touch and those roast tatties my all time fave in 61 years. £14 and good value considering the exceptional quality and generous helping. There is always an excellent vegan option.
This delightful pub appeals to me on so many levels, even with the fab old fashioned juke box you can actually hear yourself think and talk, this is ideal place to bring your friends for a shared meal or drinks and conversation. Perfect ambience with open fires in the winter, and a fab outdoor front garden terrace for the summer, coupled with lovely staff, customers and a great range of on tap beers at very reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?
There are also three nights of activities including Monday Pub Quiz and Thursday Open Mic which from feedback is a wonderful evening.
Most positive that there is a large noticeboard which shares events being held in the local community, and the offer of a FREE function room must surely have appeal for clubs and social groups?
If you are reading about this fab pub for the first time, do visit, The Telegraph at The Earl of Derby should not remain the best kept secret in Lewisham!
Popped in for a very decent pint of Summer XPA from the Brockley Brewery on my way to Peckham.
What a lovely renovation of an and corner Pub! Great understated decor and an airy feel to the place although I'm certain it'll feel cosy in winter.
Staff were really nice ( I was the only one in there though as they'd just opened so maybe they took pity on me).
I'm looking forward to going back with friends and trying the menu.
Great drinks and food and pleasantly surprised by portion sizes! New decor ali great. Best bit was the focaccia and veggie pie. Please consider doing a veggie burger!!!
Cracking food, chips and leek bhaji are 10/10. Bit spenny, the only vegetarian main is almost £14 and it's just salad, and some of the pints are approaching £7, but it's doable for cheaper (wine is normal price) and also am glad to see new a new proper pub pub open
Front garden is a sun trap 🌞
Was totally impressed with the quality of the food at a very reasonable price. The team are incredibly friendly, really welcoming vibe. Will be back!
Friendly staff, very chilled atmosphere and some delicious food. Lamb brioche and the mushroom pie. Yum
The staff, vibe and everything about this place is legendary! Much nicer now than it was. 10/10 recommend.
The renovation has added to
the atmosphere, nice to see the place so busy. The kitchen is smashing it.
A cracking proper pub with good old fashioned weirdness. Decent choice of beer and a nice outdoor terrace for Summers. We were there for the Thursday evening open mic night. Very well run with lots of quirky and interesting music with some top quality too. Excellent sound system.
One of the best pubs in terms of welcoming their guests, making a connection and knowing the people around you.
The owners are amazing people, helpful and kind
The bar staff are fun and make efforts to know you.
There is amazing live music, quality singer songwriters performance every Thursday.
There are other fun activities like comedy etc
Do visit this pub and you will come back again and again....!!!!!
Love this local pub, always has a decent selection of beers and good value for money food. Dogs welcomed, which is great to see! They have a cracking pub quiz on Mondays at 8:30pm.
The Monday night quiz is always great fun thanks to the hard work of Phil Nice. If you're not a regular you may miss a few of the jokes, but at the end of the day it's only a fu...
