3 x Chefs & a Mixologist out for the night. Poppadoms. Starters . Mains. All fantastic.
Service was good the single waiter looked after us very well. The food was of generous portions. The food was also tasty and flavoursome.
It is now a BYO.
It's well worth a visit.

If you like your curry houses frozen in 1980-90's nostalgia then Samrat is for you. There's nothing wrong with it and I enjoy my visits. But it's, well, jaded. Food is good, service is excellent, it's now BYOB. I like it.

Horrible experience…. Don’t go to this restaurant. Hate the fact that I can’t leave 0 stars. We turned up at 6pm for dinner - we ordered straight away as we needed to leave to go elsewhere at 7pm. Roll on 6:50 no food in sight - we had to leave without any food! All the while delivery drivers were coming to pick up food. I would highly recommend not to attend as was disgraceful way to treat their customers!

Haven’t been to Samrat for at least 20 years, visited because of Eat Out to Help Out.
Really friendly atmosphere and families with children were very welcome, food was spot on. King Prawn Bhuna with Nans was excellent. Tandoori dishes perfect, bring your own alcohol was also a bonus.
Definitely will come back

The choice of curries is extensive and goes beyond the standard picks. The starters are large portions so bare that in mind. The onion bhaji is only £2.50 but you get three massive bhajis! The chutneys with the poppadoms are great and everything comes out hot. I'd definitely eat here again.

There can be a bit of a wait on a Saturday (we waited half an hour between arriving and having our meal arrive), but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. The food is entirely worth the wait (which really isn't that long when you think how long it takes to actually cook meals) and the poppadoms and chutneys are a great filler of time. Portion sizes are good for sharing, and we got a shared starter, two mains and two naans for just over £31.
The quality of the take away menu is just as good as the in-house offerings and takes almost the same amount of time.

One of the nicest Bengali Indian restaurants I have dine in ,in a very long time
Very attentive and friendly staff
With 26 in the party very impressed with the quick service
There are some 6 private booths separated by glass pannel screens with sceans of India
Which I particularly liked
I lived in Sri Lanka from 1959-1967 when it was know as Ceylon
With my partner from Calcutta we known our food.
This establishment offers both to the Anglo tastes as well as to the subcontinent pallet
