Food is ok. Prices are going rate. Lost a star as staff were arguing in front of customers.

I paid a visit to Cafe Plus yesterday afternoon Saturday 11th March wherein initially having looked at the choice of set menus; all of which looked delicious, I thought a moment, as the manager/head chef Ozer asked quite politely what I would like; and instead of what was available on the set menus I chose sausages, beans, hash browns and scrambled eggs on toast with a cup of English Breakfast tea! Without a moments' hesitation, Chef Olef promptly returned to the kitchen whilst his colleague gave me a choice of table at which to seat, no sense of rush. I had only settled at my table, took a few sips of tea, and my breakfast was presented..excellent! The big sausages were so tasty with the lightest crisp in every bite; knowing chef though I tried humorously to probe him as to how he cooked the sausages..he remained momentarily silent wearing a smile, stated it was a secret! Ha! also, the scrambled eggs were ever so fluffy and light and perfectly seasoned. As simple as a breakfast appears to be, having been promptly presented to me, was certainly delicious down to the last morsel and never was greasy to taste for all the food had a light crispy texture to bite! I was quite impressed by what I could best describe, as old-school with a modernist decor family cafe; with a busy though simultaneously relaxed atmosphere of bright warm decor. I've known and often over many, many years came to eat at Cafe Plus, so I got to know the owner Olef quite well, and he never ceases to impress upon me a sense in the depth of years of his experience reflected in every word he spoke, and his willingness with geniune warmth to make old and new customers feel welcome. Quite delicious was my breakfast; though never did I feel bloated, just satisfyingly full. The young female waitress worked very well with almost a 6th sense, as she anticipated my needs; being dutiful and always attentive and respectful to myself as a customer, and equally important to her colleague. I truly believe a chef is an artist; delicately and delightfully expressing their culinary art; a way of cooking I sensed handed down by tradition from generation to generation served unto me a re-animation of homely comforts, warmth and love; borne of an era where Family gathered around to eat, so significant indeed of times past, so one can always hope the familial practice of eating breakfast does and will continue to forge a crucial narratological role for Families; now and in the future, so it was in my opinion a truly wonderful feeling to sense whilst eating breakfast cooked by Olef! If ever you are passing through the village of West Hampstead feeling hungry, by all means it is worth your while to go off the beaten track away from West End Lane, as populated as it is by coffee shops, cafes and restaurants, you will not be disappointed to actively seek out the little hidden gem of Cafe Plus! on Mill Lane.

Standard older style cafe. Family operated and very friendly. Used by the locals. Good breakfast choices and varied lunch menu plus "Specials" board. Good prices with a meal plus tea or coffee for under £10. Nothing is too much trouble for the chef and owner, Ozzy.
