I have never eaten pie and mash before, thought I would give it a go, as I was in London with a old friend and my sister, it was foul, the potato was lumpy , pie was burnt in fact the whole meal was cold even the liquor, and the two women behind the counter were miserable old cows. If you want the best try Cookes or Manzies.

If I could give zero stars I would... Hopefully I have... Frequented Kelly's Roman Road for many years.. Miss it so thought we'd try Kelly's at Bethnal Green. The place looked pretty traditional.. That's where it ended. Had the most disappointing meal. The mash was waxy.. Lumpy and flavourless.. The pie was overcooked.. The contents were greasy and bland... The liquor was luminous green with two flecks of parsley. On to the vinegar.. I am used to non brew condiment with a chilli.. The vinegar they used turned the mash black!!!.. Looked like black ink!!... The only positives were the salt and pepper... To make matters worse my husband and I have been bathroom bound!!!!!... One of the worse meals we have ever had!!!!

Reasonable, was reasonable value although pies seamed very fatty, liquor needs more parsley. Although not the cheeriest of souls I watched as they helped a rather old lady, they made sure she was comfortable, took her food and drink to her and bent over backwards in ensuring she had everything she needed. Some minor tweaks and this place could be a real gem.
