Been to this restaurant very often 6 years ago before I left uk. Drove all the way to visit this restaurant again now. Satisfied my cravings for Taiwanese food especially the bubble tea with milk. Cakes are very nice and so do the cookies and desserts. Cakes and cookies are very delicate. Price is reasonable.

Old Tree Bakery is a Taiwanese bakery with displays of its buns and cakes in the shop window. This bakery is a little different in the sense that it prides itself on trying to keep their products low in salt, sugar and fat. All of their food is baked fresh every day on site. Trays of small bags of hand made cookies are also on display. It was great to see that the baked good items were all covered on the shelves and that it was not self service. After we were seated, we went to the front of the store to choose our delights. One of the staff picked all of our items and packed them for us as we had wanted some for takeaway. To dine in at Old Tree Bakery, the Chinese mushrooms, bamboo and vegetables in soup was ordered. The big bowl of steaming soup was packed full of the vegetables and garnished with coriander. The soup was very flavoursome with a slightly sweet and sour taste and it was also thicker than I had expected. It was a hearty soup with its gravy like broth. As I was not feeling adventurous to try the milky bubble tea, a decaffeinated Americano was had instead. Coffee and cake are a match made in heaven. The coffee bun was soft and had a light texture to it. The coffee paste that intertwined through the bun was just sweet enough. Old Tree Bakery felt clean and well maintained. The cafe area is of a medium size with some comfy seating by the windows and normal tables by the counter. There are a few tables and chairs outside too. The staff were

Cozy & warm, just like an old friend, Taiwanese Soul Food!. Although the menu is not elaborate, the choices are only a few, but it is simple & just nice. You can definitely taste the chef's soul in the food here. The kind of soul food that one would normally find from mom's cooking!
Their cakes are the best of both worlds, using the fresh cream, cheese, berries and fruits of England with an asian essence to them. Just the right tint of sweetness and very light. I must say they have the best pearls (Topica balls) in their bubble tea. If you haven't tried it yet, it is worth a trip up there.

We were in Golders Green for lunch at Local Friends (Hunan restaurant) following a friend's recommendation. After a very filling but less than satisfying meal, we began roaming Golders Green Road to kill some calories before heading back home. A fatal mistake. Any good intentions to walk off a heavy meal almost always certainly end up with me piling up more. It wasn't long before Wife pointed out Old Tree ( 老樹 ) to me. Located prominently at the intersection between Golders Green Road and Armitage Road, Old Tree reminded of the one of those Taiwanese cafes that popped up back home when the craze over the island's light bites hit. But unlike the cafes back home, Old Tree was not only larger but offered a wider menu as well, which ranged from, bubble tea, buns, pastri

Hong Kong is a food Mecca, no doubt about that but we also had a lot of great food in Taipei as well. The PigPig happened to come across a forum with some Taiwanese saying that My Old Tree served pretty good authentic Taiwanese fare. When my Taiwanese ex-

I do love a good pork chop rice. While it seems to be available at every other Chinese restaurant in New York City (there’s even a restaurant named for it), this Taiwanese classic is quite difficult to find in London (unless you make it at home as I have in the past ). It was on the menu at Old Tree Bakery, though, a Taiwanese bakery-cafe in Golders Green, and I made my way there one Saturday for lunch. I had first discovered the existence of the bakery at one of the annual Taiwanese food festivals and I had been impressed by their biscuits. It’s not very far from the tube station and it’s a bright and airy space with a case of colourful cream cakes and their buns all on display in the window. There’s something almost unworldly about their baked buns, all hyper glossy and looking fake, like plastic. But I wasn’t there for buns, I wanted pork chop rice. It was still empty when I arrived but the cafe filled up quickly. The waitresses, all in identical uniforms, were lined up behind the c

Without a doubt the hidden gem of Golders Greens various Asian restaurants .

A mix of Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese food, this is a great local spot.

Hands down, the best squid I've had!

Great noodle dishes, bento boxes and dumplings along side some dishes that seem a little scary.

Try some of their homemade deserts like the green tea cakes.

Thoroughly recommend it.

It you are looking for a nice, quaint restaurant, this is the place for you. Hidden on a corner of Golders Green High road, you can find Old Tree. With what looked like a family-run business, customer services seems to be of utmost priority. This restaurant is accommodating to both couples and medium size parties of 5-7 people. Reservations are not necessary as there are seats outside on a warm spring/summer day (let me know when you experience one in jolly ole England). The waiters really do all they can to guarantee a smooth experience.

The food is very well priced and has all sorts of Chinese food. I recommend beginning with the chicken and sweet corn soup, followed by chicken fried rice with the sweet and sour chicken. Although this is a very common meal, I believe they do an exceptional job at it. They also work as a bakery, so for desert, you can find properly baked goods that have a customer base of it's own. I recommend the chocolate mousse.

This restaurant is really good and fitting for any meal of the day due to their bakery selection.

Generally, good portions of tasty food for a decent price. However, their bubble tea is not that great, and my mum once ordered a dish that was much too salty. Service can be a bit unprofessional. The Old Tree Special Fried Rice is my favourite! Delicious. Bento boxes are also nice. It's a pity that the bakery part's pretty much gone.

Old tree has always been one of my favourite restaurant in London. The most authentic Taiwanese food you can find here. Three-cup chicken and beef noodles are must-eat. They also do a lot of cakes and they can make one whole cake for you if you request, just need to pay in advance. Golders Green is far away from central but I still come all the time, because it is that good 😍

I've definitely have been spoiled by the price Singapore offered bakery goods, because the bread bun with sausage costing over £3 was a little shock. This Taiwanese cafe offers a great selection of sticky buns, breads and bubble tea, all with just enough sweetness to satisfy. There's plenty of seating, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful – even taking each item you want from the self-serving bakery section – and I wish I could afford to buy as much as my stomach craved. If that doesn't worry you though, there's enough reason to pop in and try out something new.

Taiwanese menu with some nice dishes, I particularly liked the fried fish noodle soup and the beef noodles in various strengths of heat. The food is pretty good for London but not completely authentic and the service is alright. Price was pretty good for the quality of food. I would recommend.

One of the best Taiwanese restaurants in London. Try dishes with their fragrant cabbage. Don't be put off by the fact that half the restaurant is a bakery. They serve great food too. Their pastries are so so though.

Really nice little Taiwanese cafe a little out of the way, but well worth the visit. I'd been craving traditional taiwanese braised beef and stewed eggs for a couple of weeks, and this place definitely satisfied it (at not too high a price!). The homemade taiwanese sausages are also a favourite, as is the Taro Bubble Tea. They also have a bakery in store with the biggest egg tarts I've ever seen, and some amazing looking green tea cream puffs. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the bakery items, but i'm definitely going back. #UrbanGardening
