Excellent venue on London's Southbank about 10 minutes walk from Waterloo Station. We attended a contemporary classical music concert by the brilliant Manchester Collective who performed 4 pieces including Steve Reich's great Different Trains.
The venue can seat nearly 1000 people and has very good sight lines and acoustics. Two decent bars in the foyer.
The seats are uncomfortable and the multiple entries to the same set of women's toilets are incredibly confusing (defeats the purpose of queuing when people can just walk in from a different entrance and skip), but the staff are friendly and the venue is always clean
Well this was a little gem of a discovery. Very cool little roof time garden space overlooking the Thames and SouthBank area. Theres a cafe/bar to grab a drink and a snack. The staff were pleasant. There are lots of tables and benches around the gardens and also rails for leaning against should you wish to stand and look over the river.
Only downsides were 1) it’s a cashless bar and 2) there are no toilets (the nearest are inside the Concert Hall building)
Nice modern theatre, with comfortable seats and a large auditorium. Saw SpongeBob here and could see and hear everything well from row AA
Perfect for a summer afterwork drink! But difficult to grab a seat, so at last we all sit on the grass. And there are only 2 toilets so the queue is much longer than the queue to the bar.
Great music venue at the Southbank Centre. Excellent visibility across the seats, so getting a mid range ticket is fine. The foyer is more quiet than RFH but good place to meet and spend time.
Great Theatre, easily accessible from Waterloo station. The auditorium is spacious with very comfy seats. I saw Spongebob the musical here and the themeing of the food, drinks and photo ops outside was on point.
The area around the theatre is also very vibrant for being a brutalist construction. There's a lively skate park underneath the theatre, decorated erratically with decades of graffiti and the skaters don't mind you watching them as there is often a rather sizable crowd. There are also a number of existing bars and resterants in the area perfect for an after show bite or drink. If you are walking from Waterloo station you are sure to pass a couple of these establishments nestled under the train bridges, or maybe disused train bridges, I don't know as I didn't see or hear any trains above the places in question.
Overall a great theatre in a great area, with friendly helpful staff and amazing productions. I implore you to visit.
Really cool rooftop bar with a basic selection of drinks. A lot of places to sit and the grass is real which is nice.
Places to sit in the shade, in the sun and also to look over onto the Thames.
Absolutely brilliant and the staff especially Julie helped my husband and myself and made sure we safe and helped where needed. Excellent show and the cast were actively supporting the young actors.
An Absolutely amazing place . The theatre spacd is really modern. Great views no matter where you sit. Excellent sound. Very comfy seats and good facilities.
