Kung Fu Oriental Buffet

The owners of this restaurant has changed and it’s now not a buffet restaurant anymore. They now specialise more on authentic Chinese noodle soup dishes and other regional Chinese dishes. They have now upstairs seating and still plenty of space downstairs. The lamp noodle soup was actually really good but the beef one was disappointing as it had no taste almost if the chef forgot to season it. Overall positive change.

First, the caveats, my visit was 18:00-19:30 on a quiet Thursday evening in late February. I had walked past the previous evening and decided to look up the reviews. I’m not sure I went to the same restaurant. It’s a well maintained, bright, clean and well equipped space with nice fixtures and fittings, good lighting and the buffet selection is excellent. The staff where polite but not oppressive. Any requests seemed to be greeted well and explanations given if requested. I can see that due to the nature of the bain marie system the food didn’t feel as if it was freshly served from a nuclear furnace, but the covers kept the sauces acquiring the rhino skin which can be the curse of a buffet. There was a good salad and fruit selection and whilst the cook to order stations where not operating (it was a quiet evening) there was a great selection. The deserts wouldn’t win patisserie of the year but sweetened the mouth at the end of your meal. Refill drinks represented good value too. I can honestly say I was pleased I’d not been been put off by some of the less generous reviews. Plus, they must have the prettiest washroom on Earl’s Court Road :)

Very satisfied with our visit! Vast selection of very delicious Asian foods and some non-asian food (chicken nuggets, fish sticks etc for fussy eaters), lots of desserts, and refillable drinks. The quality of the food was excellent as was the service. The staff was super friendly and helpful. It was very kid friendly as well!! Also I cannot stress how clean and tidy the place was, it was impeccable!! All for a very reasonable price!! We will visit again when in London!!
